Gather Young People One and All, it is Story Time!
"It was a small town, in a small country, on a small continent, in a small world. No, this is not the story of the Who's, but a story of the Why?s." A storybook was opened as the tale of the unlucky people in the small town of Flourgis was told. "It was a festive season in the small town as the young townsfolk were gathered in the square around a large fire. It was a happy time for them all. For you see, these people lived in a cursed world. 100 years ago a meteor landed in the town square where the fire stands today. This meteor was infected by a mythical force, a force that infected the townspeople within the next day. The townspeople started to change slowly the next day. The elderly died first. They went peacefully in the first night. Though the next week the adults above 25 passed away in their own sleep. The teenagers were next. Or so they thought. The teenagers saw the pattern before it hit. The younger you were, the more time it took to kill you. The trick was, you had to die in your sleep when the time came. The teenagers gathered together in town square around the meteor. The effects were already in the air so it had no harm to be near it. The teens and early twenties slept for days at a time until their time came. It was week three of the meteor's arrival and the teens predicted it was time to take action. They set up logs and other flammable items around the meteor. They set fire around it and danced like they never had before. They stayed active for an entire week not falling asleep and keeping busy with each other. Some did not make it the entire week, they passed away as soon as they drifted off. However a good amount stayed through the week. One of them who fell asleep was sought to be dead, until they heard him snore. This person was the first to survive the catastrophe. He was awoken immediately and returned to the party as the others dozed off and lived. Two months later the living adults knew it was time for the young ones. They did the same for the young ones, but as they expected, the longer you had to survive, the longer you had to stay awake. They knew this, the children had to stay awake for 3 weeks to live. They arrived at the party and attempted to stay awake. It was unfortunate for none survived. Only people between the ages of 15-23 survived. However through the next year of survival they noticed a change. There was NO change to them. Their bodies did not age one bit, but the females became barren. No child was born again, but the city people never aged. It was considered a curse to most, but it was raised as a blessing to themselves that they had the intelligence to survive. Now, every year they set aside an entire week where the people repeated their ritual of life around the meteor. But the meteor was decayed and eroded. They built a fire pit where it once was." But in this story, we find no conflict. This is where we get through twenty years from the beginning. "It was the 20th year from the meteor fall and the towns people arrived in the center. They danced for 4 days tirelessly around the fire. The fifth day, howls and other sounds were heard from some of the more tired people. At night, all of the animals in the surrounding areas appeared in town. All of their eyes were wild and they attacked. No deaths had occurred, but they realized what had happened. The animals were affected as well. They were not killed off, but turned into creatures to kill. Like the humans, the animals never aged, but they did still have the ability to multiply and stopped aging at the peak of their lives. The humans had to fight back, but nature got to them first. Their bodies had adapted along with the animals. They had gained special powers, the kinds that they dreamed of from their favorite comics or fantasies. But they only used the powers for good use, for they wanted to live in peace and keep their race alive. For they were a limited number that could only go one direction. Down." The storybook closed as Shado, the first child, at the age of 17 years growth, to sleep, had looked up from his own words he had wrote. "That." He said to the others around the fire. "Is our story we have shared together throughout these many years"
