http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3144165Quote: News: Siren's Big Screen Debut Sony's survival horror series goes Hollywood. by David Karlin, 09/28/2005 Siren, a survival horror game and one of Sony's more interesting original releases this generation, is receiving the live action film treatment next year in Japan. Scheduled to debut February 11th to match the release of Siren 2, the movie is still in production. The film which is being directed by Sada Yoshihiko, know for "Keizoku" and "TRICK," and is currently in high gear to make the February deadline. Of course, since a film is nothing without its star, the lead actress for Siren will be Ichikawa Yui. The film sticks close to the game's setting on the island of Yamijima off the coast of Japan, the inhabitants disappeared after mysterious siren rang out 29 years ago. In present day, a young girl and her family have moved to the island and as the siren begins to ring again, the she's thrown into a frightful world as she becomes entangled in the strange phenomenon. The film will actually use the vision stealing system featured in the games, allowing players to see the world through someone else's eyes. The movie should also contain story links to both games for fans. Considering the Siren games already used real actors and actresses' faces in FMV form and the plot of the game already borrowed heavily from modern Japanese horror films, this next step as a real film seems to make sense. Maybe Sony can release the film as a bonus alongside Siren 2 whenever they get around to a US release.

I find this pretty strange, considering the game wasn't very popular. I mean, I loved it, but eh.

I want to try to find Keizoku and TRICK to see if he's any good. By the way, the game was much more popular in Japan. There was even a "PlayStation 2 the Best" version released, which is Japan's equivalent of our "Greatest Hits" versions.

Oh my god!!! O_O .... This is ... I love Siren! I'm really happy! Considering the big live acting aspect of Siren, this movie has a chance, although I think it might go over better as a tv series, im still really happy. biggrin
(My favorite game is Siren)

Neko Athena sad how the video game industry is taking so much money away from hollywood that the movie folk have to bastardize games in a vain attempt at revenge... *pitches tent for Doom, SH, and FF* sounds like America. 3nodding I think a siren game would do very well.....i mean, you could still get scared shitless, but not have to worry about the gameplay; the plot wasn't too bad, so it has teh makings for a good film. and thank god they are giving it Japanese actors and actresses....(lets hope they leave out the british voices....) *crawls inside tent*

Well.....y'know, who knows what could come of this. I mean, most video game-to-movie adaptions are usually American projects so seeing Japan taking a whack at it might be rather interesting, especially considering how the game was already pretty much a Japanese horror film......

Unless you're talking about it being released here, which I doubt ... It might be released by a company like ADV or something though ...

We're joking about the British voices cuz in the U.S. release of the game, everyone had British accents for reasons unknown.

After Advent Children, I feel no problem with leaving Siren in the hands of the Japanese. 3nodding
