Want a free Sentinel? Of course you do.

This beautiful female is tougher than she looks, and she's up for grabs to the player who writes the best and most interesting RP response to the prompt below. The only parts you can't change are her type and gender and that she is a Watcher.

This task, while not as glamourous as some of the others, is no less important in Sentinel society. The Scouts and Rangers are the guardians of the perimeter of Noctua, but the Watchers are the true custodians of the heart of the forest. A fair share of Elites have served a stint as a Watcher in their day, and the Near Sub-Wardens are expected to have spent at least a season in that role. In most cases, Watchers are among the most combat-ready of the Sentinels, even if those skills are rarely called upon.

Freebie rules:
- If you win this Sentinel she's completely free of charge.
- Basic customization is available at flatsale pricing (up to 25K)
- If you own more than two Sentinels you can't enter, sorry. We want to give newbies a chance.
- While we are not an RP-required shop, this is a RP based freebie and we would love it if you stayed to play!
- We'll have some more giveaways and a flatsale later for folks who want sig-pretties. <3 User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Prompt:
While some fall into the task out of indecision, this particular Sentinel takes her chosen task of Watcher very, very seriously. She is combat-ready and trained, tasked to watch her region of the forest to protect others from harm.

It may be easy for the long nights of watching to blend together, to become a seamless boring blur... but this night is not like any other night.

Something stirs below. The noise is intermittent, at the fringes of her awareness at first. But it's drawing nearer, and she can see movement in the underbrush. Something large stirs below.

What will she do?

You may play the part of the unknown creature below in this scenario if you need to, but the main part of the RP should be about the female.

It was night again, the dark of the forest signaling it was time for the Sentinels to wake and begin their duties. For a Watcher, this night would probably be like every other: boring and near identical to the one before it. This area was too well guarded, some would say, such that even if something happened nobody heard about it. Only the Watchers who were terrible gossipers let slip what had gone on in their territories but that sort of news came rarely. For the most part, the life of a Watcher was quite mundane. Other Sentinels may have stayed in their roosts despite the arrival of night, clinging to a few extra toe taps of sleep. Mooneyes, however, was not one of those Sentinels.

Armed and ready for combat, she sat perched in her favourite tree, already on the look out. She was up the moment the sun’s rays disappeared over the horizon, eager to be prepared for the long night that was to come. You could never be too careful, after all. Some adult Sentinels might believe that this forest was safe for them, but Mooneyes knew better. Every rustle, every chitter or peep could mean that something dangerous was on the prowl. As a hatchling she had heard stories of strange creatures named Red with long thick beaks and huge ear-tufts. They had eyes like a Sentinel, only much more cunning, and with such violent colouration, no one could doubt that they were dangerous. Mooneyes had decided then and there that she would be a Watcher, ready to defend her forest from even a misbehaving Mus. She had yet to do anything of great importance, but that did not matter so much. It was important that she was ready, that was all.

Tonight started out as every night did, the forest quiet and relatively peaceful. Without so much as rustling a feather, Mooneyes turned her head, golden eyes scanning the Ground. So far so good. Nothing moved other than by the occasional wind. As she turned her had slowly back the other way, a rustle caused her to stop abruptly. For a moment, she doubted she had heard anything, but then it came again, closer. By the fourth rustle she had managed to pinpoint it, eyes narrowed in what she hoped was a fearsome expression. This invading creature would not sneak by unnoticed.

“Halt! Who goes there?” Mooneyes tried to sound imposing from her high perch. There was nothing brave about attacking an unknown foe on the Ground, not to mention she was not built for dive-bombing. Being a silent flyer was only good for hunting, not for attacking. The creature, however, did not still. It continued along, rustling and moving the plant life around. Then, it paused, and stuck its head above the cover of the plants. It was like nothing Mooneyes had seen before. Not like a Red, for this was most definitely darker. Brown and black with stripes and a large collection of black around its eyes, but Mooneyes was sure it is related to a Red. It has the same long ear tufts and a tail like the body of a Mus.

The Sentinel is quiet for a moment as she observes this creature, before deciding that she shall call it Black Face. It seemed a fitting name. “Black Face! Halt! You are trespassing!” Mooneyes figured that now she knew its name it would respond. This time, the Black Face did look up, and stared curiously at her with strange black eyes. As though it too was interested in her, it started towards her tree. Mooneyes stiffened and glowered at it. “Black Face you are trespassing! Do not come any clos—“ The Sentinel was forced to end her words with a humiliating screech, having caught sight of the Black Face coming straight at her up the tree. It was all she could do to flap her wings and take off, the movement so awkward and uncoordinated from surprise that she barely made it to the next tree.

Feathers ruffled, Mooneyes turned to glower at the Black Face, who was staring at her with an expression akin to disappointment. The Sentinel, however, was definitely not disappointed that her opponent had got so close to her. When it made to come up her tree, she decided that the creature had taken things too far. “Shoo! Shoo!” Mooneyes lowered her head and spread her wings wide, feathers ruffled in a threat posture. This Black Face was not getting the better of her. She clicked angrily, and then made an aggressive lunge towards the Black Face. That seemed to clue it in, and it turned and made its way back down the tree. With a final, rather sorrowful look back in her direction, the Black Face set off back the way she had came. Mooneyes breathed a sigh of relief.

Now that the danger was gone, the Sentinel began rearranging her feathers again as she waited for her heartbeat to return to normal. What a strange creature she had encountered. Mooneyes made a note to report this back to the Teachers whenever she had a free moment. Let them know about the new threat of the Black Face. Until then, Mooneyes would stay on duty. Perhaps she should get her face painted with a mask like her foe. A reminder of the mighty battle between a Sentinel and a raccoon.

[ I can't get the Owner's List to work for me, so if for some reason her name is taken I will gladly change it. <3 ]
