I have lots of very dear verses to my heart, but one in particular is Hebrews 11:1 KJV
1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
or in the NIV
1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
I think that younger people would understand the second version better, but the first one seems to have more substance for me.
Faith is this thing that sits inside the realm of logic, yet seems not to be in it because of the exclusion of simple faith from the use of intelectuals like Socretes and Plato, which I think was one of their biggest mistakes if omitted on purpose, and one of their biggest goof-ups if never discovered. Faith drives the world, and this is an awesome definition.

Psalm 46:1-2
I don't know the entire second part, but it begins with "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, will not we fear."
