This is just what I've personally heard from my friends: one didn't like the ending because of the build up for a fight and there wasn't any; then there's that whole "Bella didn't end up with Jacob yada yada yada..." (I'm not a huge Jacob fan so I don't really care. At least he's happy at the end.). I think it's just that some people like to criticize. It's impossible to make everyone happy with one thing. sweatdrop

most of my friends have read the books. the ones who haven't do, indeed, think we're nuts. and a few of my friends didn't like Breaking Dawn, one hated it. frankly, i don't get it. i thought it was really good. could have been better, but i enjoyed it a lot. and i really liked the end. though i could've kept reading to see what happened after, Steph didn't really leave us hanging on anything, like the authors of a few books i've read. so yes, i understand how some people might not LOVE Breaking Dawn, but to HATE it?

I don't hate it, but I disliked it.

In my opinion, everything ends up too perfect. Bella doesn't even go through that "crazy newborn" phase. Alright, so I could live with the explanations for that. But then, she gets her power to protect people to protect everyone. There was a struggle, but to suddenly be able to use it when you needed it most?

Also...with Nessie...I didn't like that whole part of the story. The baby seemed like a plot twist more than an actually character. When she was aging rapidly and they gave her 15 years to live...I was happy that they'd be some sacrifice to the happiness. But no, she lives forever too. As mean as that is to say, there wasn't even a fight in the end. Lots of tension, yes, but no real struggle for survival.

With that said, if I were living that life, I'd love the ending. Everyone ends up happy. But as a reader...I would've liked to at least seen more fight, more struggle to protect that which everyone loved.

But that's my opinion. I can see how people like the book, because in some ways I like it too. But to say I hate it? Nah, that's too extreme for me. ^_^;

Its not an important issue really. iTs either you like it or you dont. end of story. Saying it sucked might be going a little far... but saying you dont like it or it wasnt wat you expxcted is fine. it seems actually that the pple who put soo much expectation into it are the ones who didnt like it. after all, its just a book and nothing more so its not her fault you we're expecting this big finish and you didnt get it. She makes it how SHE likes and wants it and thats how she wrote it.

yes, but when people put there stuff out for the public, they expect people's opinions on it, so there is no problem with explaining one's decision, whether they liked the book or not. it is natural to want more - or less - from any given thing in life, and it's perfectly fine and normal to express an opinion on it.

To be human... It's just in our nature to question these things. We want to know why someone hates what we love. So this is a moot point, really.

But in answer to some of the questions. I loved it. I thought that it was a very good way to end the series. Any other ending would have left it open to add more books to the series and Stephenie didn't want Twilight to end up like the next Harry Potter.
My friends have all read it and understand the obsession with fictional characters. Twilight or otherwise. One of them even argues that Jacob is better and another says Edward. I claim Switzerland. Honestly, I'm not sure that they know if I'm obsessed or not. I actually don't go around spewing it. *laughs* Someone, a friend actually, yelled at me a few months ago for simply talking about it with another friend. Neither of us mentioned that we put up with her obsessions with Harry Potter and certain animes.

Personally, Breaking Dawn is my second favourite, because its like finally Bella and Edwards troubles are out of the way.
It was weird having a character change in the middle, but it gave people a different perspective on things, which was great.
I loved the whole Renesmee bit, it kinda bought Bella and Edward even closer together, if thats even possible!
And i was a bit dissapointed that there wasnt a fight, but at least I didnt have to worry anymore about one of the characters dying biggrin

Its like Marmite I suppose,
You either love it or you hate it

I loved it but of course it pissed me off that it was the end of the greatest series I've ever read. stressed

I didn't hate it, but it definitely was not my favorite book in the series. I actually liked the happy ending, I think it was appropriate. biggrin And in a world where not many people get such happy endings, it's nice to read a series and see everyone's dream in life come true - to get to one's own happily-ever-after.

And I was also sad when the last page said "The End"...

I can see why people would hate it, since some parts of the book are a little out there. Like the whole deal with Bella drinking blood, that kind of made me a little sick.

And my friends who've read Twilight either agree with my obsession or are a little speculative of why it's my life. Hahahaha.

Personally, I didn't hate it, but it wasn't my favorite. I liked the ending alright, but it just seems like too much happens all at once. I mean, we go through three books, all of which seem to be leading up to something and you kind of have to wonder which is going to come first. By the end of the third book, you think they are going to get married, and then see what happens from there. But no, they get married, Bella ends up pregnant, and then she becomes a vampire within like, a month or two. Everything just happened way too fast. The first three books were paced, but then too much happens in the fourth book. Its too "busy" I guess you could say.

It was good, and I still love the series, but I wish she had drawn it out a bit more.
