I was wondering if we could make a list of the properties of different herbs - which ones are healing, calming, protective, etc. I'll add ones from a book I have (when I find it, that is sweatdrop ) Anyone?

Sounds good to me. Do we want to do like an herb of the week style where we pick an herb and list all it's properties or do we want to pick a property and list the herbs that work for it?

I've got a book full of herb info, so if we decide between those two, I can help with adding to that info. ^_^ ~Tsual heart

Ok so we should start an herb of the week thread, maybe a stone of the week thread and a Purpose of the week thread?
Herbs and stones I have a decent amount of experience with as well as a ton of reference materials on. So I can definately help with those as well as things that corrospond to various purposes.
What other ----- of the Weeks were you thinking Viscerim?

...Should we get a sub-forum for all these weekly things?...What day should they be updated?...Should we get a poll up somewhere (possibly the main forum) to see what should be the next (insert thing here) of the week?...
*IDEA* I think we need a special Sticky, Viscerim. Once we get all of these weekly things up, I can make it. Just a quick reference guide to weekly stuff. But, yeah. Viscerim. PM me about this so we can get it all sorted out. 3nodding

I'm not particularly well-versed in pharmacology, so I tend to let pharmacists turn herbs into pills for my convenience wink
But I know lavendar helps you relax... of course, that's not so much "herbs" as aromatherapy.
I know a particular type of willow bark is an analgesic. I want to say white, but the other kind is bad for you so don't take my word for it wink
And St John's Wort is good for easing mild depression and anxiety - but shouldn't be taken with the pill as it'll stop it working. I'm not sure why, but the same applies to grapefruit... and I know grapefruit has to do with your enzymes and so on. So it could be the same sort of thing.

What other ----- of the Weeks were you thinking Viscerim? I'll have to get back to you on that. If you wanted to take the herbs idea, or even the stone and purpose idea, you can go ahead and fly with it. Find pictures, anything you want. It sounds good to me. It seems that you are our authority on herbs smile Just out of curiosity, do you use specific herbs as seasoning for food with the intent of unlocking their use?

Hmm, interesting concepts...who knew that something so small could spark something to big? biggrin
I like that Herb/Stone/etc. Of The Week idea. Who would post it? Or would everyone just contribute their own knowledge on that particular herb/stone/etc.? That would be real interesting. I kinda figured we could do a list of herbs because this is a subforum for herbs, stones, etc. Should we start a "Herb of The Week" thread here?

hmmmm...
I see MercyWild already has a good way of organizing it in the forum. I would like to see her in charge of the herb of the week, seeing her wealth of knowledge and experience.
Feel free to agree/disagree.
Once we get this squared away, we can check out other of-the-week's.

Viscerim Just out of curiosity, do you use specific herbs as seasoning for food with the intent of unlocking their use? On occasion I do. fresh lemon balm in tuna macaroni salad was very calming on hectic days this summer. I can certainly do the weekly herb and stone posts. (I will write a starter post for each week then people can add to them if they wish) I will leave the purpose of the week thing to some one else though.

You know, I just want to say that I love the way you set it up Mercy. The Ornate post style, the proper name and adding a picture, etc. It's really nice and informative. Thank you for your great work!
