((For those of you suddenly confused, please go read the the announcement/poll. Thanks! smile ))

Garreth sat in the main office with the silent Garthma. They had done a headcount. All the students were back safely and in bed, though two or three of them had sustained bad enough injuries to be spending the remainder of their morning in the infirmary. Garreth had allowed the students time to sleep, as they had only been back to the school for three hours tops. It was now around nine a.m.. The sun was up, and Garreth himself hadn't slept yet. And still he could not. He had received many letters during the week, and was now expecting a few students to come join the school this day.

Varnis stirred in his bed as he started to wake. Looking out the window he yawned. Sitting up he looked about the room. "That week went by fast..." He said to himself more than anyone else. Standing up he walked over to the shower and entered it. "Finally..." He sighed as he turned on the water and entered. Raiden watched Varnis as he moved about in the room, then flew over to Varnis' bed and lied down on it. Remembering out Raiden Varnis stepped out of the shower as water dripped off of his skin he grabbed Raiden. "Oh no you don't! It time you got cleaned as well!" He said to Raiden as Raiden struggled to get away as he re-entered the shower.

The deep auburn color of her horse flitted through the road from Guren. Smiling to herself she finally let her guard down a bit. Once she arrived at the school her bags and packs on the tired horse she stroked the mares neck. " that's a good girl...Rose you've been so good to me..." Juliana spoke her tongue clicking softly and the horse stood still for her to take the packs and set them in the door without her worrying of the fidgeting horse. Once she found the stable she took care of her horse knowing Rose was temperamental to most besides herself and a rare other.

After the chore Julianna walked through the doors yet again and made her way towards Garreth's office. Looking around she saw Garthma aware of how strange she looked with her long green leather riding gloved up to her elbow and the hood of her cloak still covering her face. Pushing back the worn thing she let her hair spill out and grinned a fanged grin at Garthma. " Good Morning ma'am, may i please see Garreth ? He should be expecting me..."

"'Don't worry about transportation,' I said. 'I can get to the school just fine on my own,' I said. Good lord, I had no idea Guren was such a huge city!" Truth be told, Amadeus actually wasn't struggling with his journey to House of Bricks. Compared to some of the conditioning he used to voluntarily put himself through, this was merely a short jaunt from his house to the school. The only part that might have been difficult was carrying the medium-weight pack he was hefting, complete with his staff tied down to it. He was simply mad at himself for declining the offer his parents had made about getting him a horse or something for travel. There were two reasons he had declined: 1) He didn't know how to ride a horse. 2) Even if he did, he firmly believed that horseback riding (especially when it's just a casual ride through a town) was a very unmanly activity. So he opted to walk.

Within a few minutes, he had arrived at the front of the school. The complaining stopped, and a smile spread across the young man's face. This was where his true life journey would begin, he was sure of it. He readjusted his pack and entered the establishment. He had recieved a letter from the school instructing him to report to the main office so that one of the school's chief instructors could give him further information and help him settle in. He'd been told that the office was through the main foyer and a little to the left... there! He made his way through the set of doors and was faced with the distasteful sight of... something. It looked intelligent, he just didn't know what it was. It looked like it worked here, though.

"Umm... hi. I'm a new student, and I was told to report to the main office to get myself oriented with the school's schedule, rules, and whatnot. Is one of the headmasters or headmistress available for me to speak with?"

Garthma stared at both new comers for a moment. She lifted her hand to point at Garreth's door, but it had been open, and he was already standing there, taking in the sight of both of them. "Well, Julia... a sight for sore eyes, aren't you?" he said to the woman, then moved his gaze to the young man. "Why don't you both come in and have a seat." he said, retreating back into his office. He moved over to the window and opened it before placing himself back in his chair.

Amadeus jumped a little when he realized that the headmaster was already there, watching him. "Yes... sir." He responded to Garreth's request. Getting into the habit of saying "sir" would take some practice, though Amadeus was pretty sure it was good etiquette to do so at a martial school such as House of Bricks. He followed Garreth into his office and carefully set down his pack so that the staff wouldn't be in anyone's way. He then took a seat, trying to both get comfortable and look attentive and respectful at the same time. He quickly gave up on the attempt at comfort (the chair was fine, anyway) and sat upright, awaiting further instructions from the headmaster before him.

Seeing both chairs in full sun she walked over to the wall in shade and leaned on it her usual knowing smiled on her face. " The same could be said for you old friend..." Watching Amadeus she just tilted her head a bit giving him a searching look. It wasnt cruel or Nice. It was just the look she gave when a art dealer tried to tell her a poorly done copy was the original, one of wonder and curiosity.

Garreth gave a slight chuckle, though no sign of any kind of amusement graced his face. "Your name, young man? I'm expecting a few today so I'm not entirely sure of who you are at the moment." he said, flipping through paperwork. Julia's papers had already been set off the side of the desk. noticed the young man's weapon before he was even given a chance to answer. "Wait, wait, don't tell me... staff user... you must be Amadeus of the Fontaine family, correct?" he said, pulling out the application that had been sent in.

Julia noted where her papers and the boys were as she walked over avoiding the sunlight to see his staff. " hope you don't mind " She said removing the leather gloves she wore to protect her arms from the sun and ran her hands over the wood. "...well carved..no idiotic frillyness....good quality wood..." She said balancing the staff on the back of her hand and smiled. " good equal balance...great bō staff...much better than the things i've been brought telling me their top quality..." She sat it back down and put the long green gloves back to her elbows and smiled at the details of the gloved before looking back at Amadeus.

Amadeus nodded in reponse to Garreth's inquiry about his identity. "Correct sir. Amadeus Fontaine, that's me." He noticed that the headmaster was being perfectly serious right now, and so he was very careful to keep a similar attitude. No sense in rubbing one of the administrators the wrong way, especially when he'd only been on the school's premises for a matter of minutes. Besides, being serious was something Amadeus was something he needed to practice, especially now that he was going be spending several years at this school of martial arts.

When Julia walked over and examined his staff, Amadeus's first impulse was to grab for the staff possessively. Thankfully, he kept the urge down and instead watched warily as she felt the staff and remarked about its quality. While they were positive comments, Amadeus sensed an air of condescension, as if she had expected him to have a flamboyant-looking staff. "It's made of white oak," he said in response to her comment about the material, "and I did a fair amount of research and investigation into staff-making before I bought one. As you said, there are plenty of weapons tradesmen who will try to scam you, and if I wanted to make very sure that the staff I used for the next couple of years was a good one."

Julia looked at him and stood edgily behind his chair to avoid the sunlight again and nodded picking it back up. " as well you should of....i work mostly as a art and antiques dealer in Serbin..so i had to learn good quality ANYTHING...but..honestly...its a bit frilly with the insanely high quality...its almost too good..better as a ornament than a weapon.." flips it and judges her grip before setting it back down. "...The best staffs i've ever seen were nice, thick, maple staffs...They had the sturdiness to be able to dear with Garreth's tonfas " She said a grin to the boy showing her fangs. " you should try some of the thicker staff's...their a bit harder to get a balance when you start but very reliable "

Simon unfolded his legs and fell backwards, rolling off the bed and into a standing position. He had slept a good two hours, much longer than he usually did, and felt refreshed: he had been sitting on the bed thinking for nearly three hours. Shrugging, he secreted a good nine inches of steel into a pair of holders on his lower back and walked out of the room, opening and closing the door silently. Moving down the hallway, he made his way out into the garden and stepped onto the grass, staring into the sky as the sun held its place there.

-

Sitting up in his bed, Vel stood up and put on a bathrobe, finished what he needed to do, and got dressed for the day. Walking out into the hallways he moved to the cafeteria area - he was hungry and it was already nine in the morning. Holding out his hand he watched the shimmer that appeared in the air above it, incredibly thin. It had been hard to notice for a long time, but he could partly see it now. I still don't understand what it is. It's been tested, I do not have the aura of a mage. Shrugging, he slid into the main room; parting the doors quietly, and began to take food and eat.

Garreth stood, grabbing Julia's papers. He reached his arm across the desk, holding the papers over Amadeus's head toward the woman. "Not to be rude, old friend, but it would be great if you could look over this and sign it. And please, don't try to provoke my new student." he said before sitting back down. He slid Amadeus's papers over to him, along with a pen. "I found no flaws in your paperwork. Just verify for me that everything is correct and then sign at the bottom where I've marked, if you would. After that I'll show you two around a bit and get you settled in your rooms."

Namen heard Rain's even breathing, knowing the girl was still asleep. As quietly as she could, Namen got off her bed and slipped out of her night clothes, into a pair of trousers and a sleeveless top that laced down the front, stopping mere inches above her belly button. Sliding on her boots, she quickly ran a brush through her lack of hair and slipped quietly into the hall and toward the cafeteria.

Julia smiled at him and nodded. " oh of course Garreth...i never TRY to provoke anyone..." She said sheepishly and moving towards the wall again she signed it with a pen she carried herself the ink purple. Moving around the sunlight she set the papers by him and continued to lean on the wall. Deciding it was for the better she just watched the two get along to an extent and waited to see the boys response.

Amadeus was glad when Garreth distracted Julia with the paperwork and gently came to his defense. It had stung a bit when the woman implied that he had been foolish in his choice of weapon. Too high-quality to be a good weapon? How does that make any sense? No matter, it was best that he shrug it off and move on with what he was supposed to do. He took the pen from Garreth, briefly checked over the information presented to him, and signed his name at the bottom. He put the pen down and slid the paperwork back to the headmaster. "So... time for a walk, sir?"

Amadeus smiled lightly as he got up and picked up his pack (once again taking great care to make sure the staff didn't hit anything or anyone) and waited for Garreth to lead both him and Julia what House of Bricks looked like. Although, judging by how the the headmaster and the woman treated each other, Amadaus was almost inclined to think that Julia was already familiar with the school, and that the paperwork and tour were merely formalities. Well, what did it matter? He was here, he was going to train here, and he was happy about it. Nothing anyone said could change that, and especially not today.
