Appearance: Amadeus has moderately short brown hair, though it’s long enough to hang in his face. His face itself appears to be slightly gaunt, as if he doesn’t give himself enough to eat. His eyes are also a light brown, almost matching the color of his hair. His attire is perhaps more modern than what one might expect at a school tailored towards martial arts and weaponry. It consists of baggy jeans (he has the sense not to wear pants that are too restrictive of movement) held up by a brown leather belt. Though they’re not visible, he wears a pair of simple knee braces to keep those joints where they should be. His footwear is a couple of short brown boots, since he figured anything that went up higher than his lower shins would restrict movement. His shirt changes often, though they’re almost always tan/brown in color. What doesn’t change is his white jacket, which he always wears opened, and comes down to his mid-lower back. He wears a pair of fingerless gloves to improve his grip on his staff.

Amadeus

Height: 6’1

Strengths: He is very eager to learn how to master the art of staff combat. Ever since he fell in love with the weapon, he has been keen on discovering all its secrets and coming up with a martial style of his own. He is very grateful that he has this opportunity to train under Konalter’s best, and is dead-set on making the most of what he has.

He’s also in decent athletic shape, though not for the right reason: in his own words, “Girls don’t dig a fatty.”

Weaknesses: He has somewhat of an ego problem, which isn’t helped by the fact that he’s been lucky with girls thus far in his life. Obviously, his number one objective at House of Bricks is to learn how to wield a staff, but his number two objective is to find a girl that he could become mildly intimate with while he’s engaged in his training.

Another, perhaps more meaningful weakness is his faulty knees. The reason he wears knee braces under his pants is because the joints have had a history of slipping/dislocating from time to time. They start to hurt long before they might dislocate, and so a change in his stance from crisp to sloppy is usually a sign that they’re starting to act up on him.

Weapon: His only weapon is a bō staff that’s roughly 5’10. It’s the only weapon he has any desire to master, though he is fairly certain he’ll need to learn unarmed combat to be truly effective with his staff.

Personality: Very friendly, fairly casual, and (as previously stated) mildly ego-centric. Amadeus is pretty good at making friends, and even better at keeping them. Usually, he’s able to put a positive spin on his self-centered tendencies by making a joke out of it, and if he has a friend that absolutely cannot stand it, he makes an honest effort to be more humble around him/her.

Bio: Amadeus comes from a wealthy family, though it’s not a well-known one. Furthermore, their wealth was gained not through military heroics or nobility, but through commercial means. As a result, the Fontaines do not have any background in combat, nor do they have any strategic family ties, but they are very money-wise, and very fond of their only son. Amadeus has been lightly spoiled most of his life, which helps to explain his ego.

As for how he become enraptured with staff combat, Amadeus ( age 18 ) was screwing around with one of his friends in a construction yard late at night. It didn’t occur to them that the dregs of society prowl the city at this time, and so Amadeus found himself at knifepoint by a mugger asking for his wallet. A piece of PVC piping was lying nearby, so Amadeus’s friend, who had some experience with martial arts, grabbed it and unleashed a flurry of strikes on the mugger. His skill wasn’t very good, but the swiftness of the counterattack scared the mugger enough for him to high-tail it out of the lot. Amadeus very quickly decided that he should learn self-defense himself, and that he would learn how to use a staff, because it’s execution was, in his mind, the most simplistic and elegant of any weapon he knew.

Extra: He wears a small bracelet on his right wrist, a memento from one of his relationships. Its termination was solely the fault of Amadeus, or more specifically, his ego. The bracelet acts as a constant reminder that Amadeus needs to keep his ego in check.
