What is everyone's view on chakra work?

I have relocated an old book of mine and I am planning to brush up on it, and I was wondering if anyone was knowledgable in this area.

What I know is from Naruto. Nothing reliable there. I remember hearing a little here and there, and there is some mention of it in my Crystal Bible, which I should read once I have time. I know that they are power spots in your body, adn that some people use crystals for different effects over different chakra areas. But otherwise, I know nothing.

I'm sooo, excuse my wording, retarded with this stuff. I have no 6th sense bone in my body! I guess that's why it all facinates me.

and i know i'm going to sound crazy from time to time here. the experiences i've seen are too crazy for real life...

a guy a know concentrated his and put it on my hand, my hand burned... and it stayed that way for weeks. and when ever he got mad it would burn. plus it was sensetive to touch, but recently he took it back and while he did it was icy cold. and now my hand is fine, and i haven't had a problem with it since then... :/

I don't know enough about Eastern ideas to do much with chakra work. I know where my energy centres are and how to open them, and I use some more than others, but I don;'t use them for magic. Save the ones in my hands, I suppose. But yeah, if I wanted to get into working with the properly I'd have to go into all that yoga stuff and that involves rather more discipline and work than I'd be prepared to focus on it.

I hear you there; I still haven't found enough time to even open the book again. There is just not enough time in one day.

That is interesting hearing about them being placed in your hand. I didn't even know they could move; I thought they were move like openings. I look forward to getting into it.

Um, they don't move... they're not openings really, they're energy centres. There are seven down the centre of your body, which are the popular ones wink But there are energy centres elsewhere as well. They might not be referred to as "chakras", though.

I see. I kind of thought of them as openings for your energy, but being centers, more like a gravity than a passageway, makes a lot of sense too.

The idea of hand chakras is pretty new to me, and unlike the other chakras, I don't know of it having a characteristic and color correspondence with which it ressonates. Anyone know?

They're white for me. Compared to the others "opening" might be a better name for them... then again, that might just be the way I'm perceiving them. Again, I'm not sure if they would be "chakra" as such.

Then again, a couple of my chakra colours are a bit different to normal colours.

I've been trudging through this book, and I really don't like the author. I especially don't like his pace through the book, nor do I like his religious perspective integration into a lot of it. But... I pulled apart a lot of the stuff as best I could, and I cross referenced some of his information, the stuff that I could see was without religious integration. Anywho, you gotta be careful who's writing what now-a-days.

As far as the colors, it's interesting that yours appear white. I wonder why that is. Maybe they really are without color, and the only reason color is associated with it is because colors have certain effects on a person. I also wonder if it has to do with the vibrational frequencies color has, which might help to increase or decrease a person's vibrational frequency.

Some fun information, I figured out why it's stereotypical for monks to say "Ohm" while they are meditating. Different vowels ressonate in certain parts of your body, which help stimulate certain chakras (in theory of course). Starting from the bottom, the vowels go: "U, O, A, E, I, Hm." So in saying Ohm, they are resonnating with both their Crown Chakra, connecting them to great spirituality, as well as the buddhist belief of oneness, and they are activating their Solar Plexus area, which allows them to share emotion with the world, and to experience emotions around them. It makes sense I suppose, as many buddhists want to obtain a oneness.
