When you go to get a tattoo, do you go to the same person or parlor every time, or do you like to try out new people? I know a lot of artists employ different techniques, and some people may prefer one technique over another.

And if you are an artist, do you have a soft spot in your heart for repeat customers? wink

Myself, I always go to the same parlor, Sacred Temple in Tularosa New Mexico. The artists there are both very talented, and I enjoy getting tattooed by both of them. They both have a very wide spectrum of techniques, and the parlor itself is the most sanitary I've ever seen.

ok so yeah I go to the same place .. granted my first tat wasn't done by my current artist but it was done by someone I knows apprentice the first one was done @ "Bear's Den" in Orillia and the rest I get done at the Tat Shack in Midland Ontario by my friend DieSilent .. her and the owner Tony are probably the only people i would ever allow to touch my skin around here they are wicked artists

We were good friends with an artist, and most of my art came from him. He is Gary Jackson of Terrell TX, he was pretty well known and even tattooed Randy White of the Dallas Cowboys.
Since we no longer live in Texas, we have had to find a new one.
As it turns out, a shop went in a couple of blocks from our home, and again, have made friends with the artist. He is very talented, and I am glad that he is working on me. When I say friend, I don't mean it as a casual acquaintance, I baked this man a pan of home made cornbread over the weekend, lol.

So taking the long rambling way to answer your question, lol, yeah I prefer to stick with just one artist, if possible.

I've had 4 tats done by 3 different people. The first two, were just regular flash tattoo artists. Nothing too special, didn't really get into custom work, a bunch of artists working out of the same studio, etc.

But I've definitely found my artist. He has his own studio, only custom work, and large pieces. He's the only artist I've met who has been featured in tattoo magazines.

I go to the same place with the same person every time, hes done most of my piercings and my tattoo ^_^

He only has one tattoo, a large back piece, but he really does great work and i was very pleased with it and am glad i chose him for all my needs :]

Even though the shop moves around a lot...

I can say most of the same stuff as Granny E, except when she was going to Gary, I was WAY too young to be getting tattoos. xp My first tattoo was from one of those flash places, but the rest of mine are from the cornbread eater. lol rofl

My first two tattoos were done by Shaun at Artistic Armor Tattoo in Florida. But, he moved to Brazile and so I ended up going to Body Accessories, where I met Fish, my current artist. He has done my last three tattoos and both of my daughters too. And their friends. So, we pretty much are staying with him. He is now at Las Vegas Tattoo in Ybor City, Florida. He will most likely do my son's first tattoo and my husband's next. All the artist there are great though and Mike Parsons another artist there, has been featured in one of the tattoo magazines. I just feel more comfortable with an artist I know.

my 1st tattoo was done at forever your's on main street in anoka, mn. however, i had concerns about how clean it was there (people were smoking in the basement and the stairs down were right by where i got my tattoo done and i had to smell smoke for over an hour) and some of the other customers were pretty rude to me at times.

now i go to tatt's by zapp in stillwater, mn. aja does all my custom work (my two cats, my lola, and my pin-up). she swears that i make her day whenever i come in wanting a new custom piece, but she is taking an extended vacation in new zealand for about the next six months. otherwise, i've been tattooed by two of the other guys that work there, one of whom is my boyfriend's tattoo artist.

mmm... I only have one tattoo... but I plan to keep returning to the same artist... he's skilled and a wonderful free hand artist...

I love that I can go to my parlor and talk with my artist and my piercer at the same time... but I go to another tattoo shop to buy my body jewelry because he sells it uber cheap out there.

But as far as ink goes, Ryan at Touch of the South in Murfreesboro Tennessee is my guy... n.n

It took a few tattoos to find my place (cough being the stupid one who got tattooed at the mall). Now its always Permanant Buzz, Denville NJ, both the guys who work there are great artists, I have ink by the both of them.

So far, all three of mine have been done at the same parlor (Needlewurks, in Saratoga Springs NY). I have had a different artist for each one; Glenn, Joe, and Matt. They all have done very well with my tats. For now I think I am going to stick with Glenn... he has done my most recent one that I really should put a pic up of on here. It is my little furry son's eye marking! >^_^< At some point, when I move, I am going to have to find another artist and parlor, but, for now, it's all Needlewurks! Check them out on their myspace!

My first tattoo I got at the place I got my piercings... I wasn't entirely ecstatic with the outcome so I didn't go back. My second tattoo was a simple flash design and I got it from some random place where the guys seemed nice. But I now have a regular place now that I moved down to RI. I go to the same place my boyfriend does. My boyfriend is close friends with all the guys who work there so I get a good deal. There are two artists and I go to both of them, depending on what kind of tattoo it is. One is more detailed and realistic while the other is more cartoon and out there.

Both of my tattoos are by the same shop, but two different artists. Karma and Alex at Stylin' Tattoo in Daytona Beach, Florida. They are both amazing artists and really good friends of mine.

Both have unique styles and I love them for it. Alex has done the one on my foot and my next sidepiece and right foot will be done by her also. Karma did my butterfly along with my mom's and her wings, sun moon and stars, and her tiger lily. She got her sun moon and stars done by him while he was over at Nova 1 (i don't like them) but we found him again when Stylin' opened up.

Karma has a realistic style, which is why I chose him for my butterfly. Alex does a more cartoon-ish kind of art and she specializes in different types of script. They are excellent free-hand artists.

I also love them because they are well-priced, not like a lot of the other shops around here. Most are for tourists so they jack up the prices. Karma and Alex give discounts to regular customers and for every person you refer to them.

Anyway, that's the only place I will ever go and they are the only ones allowed to touch me.

^_^
