The convention I'm going to is in January.
BEGINNING of January.

I've started to eat better, and I've lost some weight, until my mom ate all my food, and doesn't let me go outside a lot...

Does anyone have tips? Or is there a certain vitamin I can buy?

maybe try some diet pills? they sorta help but in the end you still need to exercise. laying off the soda and sticking to water also helps a lot. do it for a few weeks and you should notice the difference.

The water thing is a big help.
Also, if you're hungry between meals, drink a large glass of water. Or munch on something healthy like carrot sticks or celery. Pickles have no calories in them.
Count your calories. Stick to 1200 a day and try not to go over.
You just really have to play attention to portion size and nutritional facts.
High protein, low fat, low cal.
Even if you can't get outside, do some sit ups in front of the TV or jumping jacks or run in place. You can even lift cans of soup or sauce as weights.

Let's meet up again...

It also helps to do exercises that focus on toning specific areas, rather than just muscle building exercises. Just googling 'toning exercises' will bring up some good stuff. Squats and lunges, yeey~

And celery is really good stuff, since it burns more calories in digesting it that the celery contains. I'd eat way more of it m'self but I'm not very fond of the flavour...

Refuse to eat any white flour at all. This is what saved me. White flour acts like glue in your body and stays in you making you unhealthy. Also I suggest yoga. You can find free yoga classes on you tube or barrow a DVD from the library, it's the perfect inside exercise routine, because there is no repeated crunches and no chance of knocking over a lamp or anything.. I use namasta yoga daily. But even with all this I still have a belly and weigh 150lbs at the height of five foot six.

If you get a hunger craving, usually it'll go away in about 15 minutes *according to some studies* or swirl some mouthwash around in your mouth. not only will that make most things taste funny, but it promotes healthy gums! best way to start is to stop snacking and eat a nutricous breakfast and lunch and have a smaller dinner. I've done that *and I cut out sugar from my diet, but Splenda may have more negative than positives I dunno yet lol* and from Janyaryto recently, I've gone from 145 lbs to 120ish (I'm 5 ft 4 btw). but also, I think it helps that my father is diabetic. ^^; and a good fun way to exercise *if you have the room lol* is to go on nonstop 2 hour DDR binges on heavy mode. just make sure you have a few bottles of water >.> rofl

go out riding your bike for an hour.
it works really well, dont stop peddaling btw, just keep on goin.
and by doing this given 3-4 weeks you'll really see a huge difference.
you should do it also when you feel hungry, it stops the craving usually for me.
fruits n vegetables help a lot too, keep healthy, stay off fast food n stuff.
and given time, you could eat about anything cause your metabolism runs faster and you keep losin the weight from bike riding.

Everything you need to lose weight effectively and safely is on this site.

www.thedailyplate.com

Track your food intake, make sure you eat the right amount of calories (too little is bad for you too), and make an effort to fit some sort of exercise into your daily routine. Even if it's just something weird like walking up and down the stairs a lot.

Well the obvious stuff: Watch your portions, only eat if your hungry, drink shittons of water (I'm not kidding, I'm on an all water diet at the moment.), eat veggies, fruits, etc., exercise regularly, cut down on the sugary stuff and extra snacks, and if you feel hungry drink some water first, you might just be dehydrated.

What I'm doing:
Drinking ONLY water (I'm not allowing myself to drink anything else, hence the "water diet")
Watching my poirtions
Watching what I'm eating
Only eating when I'm hungry (I'm such a boredom eater. I'm breaking that habit though)
Exercising regularly.

Regardless of when your convention is, I would say NEVER to try extreme dieting. You'll lose pounds fast, but you'll come off much worse for it.

Considering how your convention is in January, and you have like, 4/5 months before, you have an ideal amount of time to lose weight naturally, regardless of your starting weight.

The best weight-loss stuff i've seen in a while is WeightWatchers. My mother does it.
She just eats incredibly healthily, controls her portions, if she snacks, she grabs a piece of fruit, etc. She also excersizes a large amount.
What you must do though, is make sure you're not desperately hungry. If you cut down on what you eat so much your cravings are exceptionally high, just eat more of the good stuff. The bigger your cravings, the more likely you are to binge.
Water, obviously, essential. Its like magic juice, but.. less juicy. >.>

Basically, losing weight shouldn't feel like an ominous monster, it should be an easy, relaxing experience where your body is working to the best of it's ability, and you feel great.

just as long as you eat at the right time, ok?

Ah, I have a similar problem..... Where my parents control what's in the fridge and limit my ability to escape the house... (Also, where I live, getting too much sun can be not only tanning, but potentially fatal.)

That's a big reason I appreciate my Juujutsu class so much. Take up a sport (maybe at school?) or a martial arts class and get your parents to agree to make it part of your routine.

I was pretty round as a 10 year old, but after a year and a half of Tae Kwan Do lessons 5 days a week, I was a friggin' toothpick! eek

After I dropped out of that and had no means for an energy outlet, I actually resorted to pacing around the house in order to keep the weight off. (Which I survived on for 3 years.) I've heard that studies have shown that chronic fidgeters tend to have a lower obesity rate than people who sit still.

Refuse to eat any white flour at all. This is what saved me. White flour acts like glue in your body and stays in you making you unhealthy.

That is inaccurate... Enriched carbohydrates have been processed so much (by machines) that they immediately degrade to their simplest nutritional form as soon as they hit your digestive system......into SUGAR.

There's a book my mom read many years ago that's all about this principle, called "Sugar Busters". It's kind of like a precursor to the Atkins diet, but not as extreme. The solution, they say, is to avoid enriched grains and eat only whole grain foods. (And DON'T BELIEVE THE LABEL! Bread loaves labeled "whole grain" on the front will often have "enriched flour" or "white flour" listed as the very first ingredient on the back......it may have whole grain IN it, but for our purposes that isn't good enough.)

(Note: I never actually read that book; my mom just told me about it.)

My personal philosophy: Break all the rules. (This may work for some, traditional method may work better for others...)

Counting calories, logging what you eat, how much you eat, timing your exercise sessions, all seemed like too much work to me, ESPECIALLY SINCE I FOUND IT SO PAINSTAKINGLY BORING! gonk Therefore, I ignore my # weight completely (I don't even know it---could be anywhere within a range of 30lbs!), and just tell if I'm fat or not by looking in the mirror. If I'm "fit" or not by being able to do the things I want to do with ease, or not at all. (Like hiking and Juujutsu.) And actually working to satisfy cravings-----not based so much on flavor, but I find that my cravings often mean specific nutrients, like protein and fiber.....I HATE the taste of fruit, but once in a while my body just screams for it. neutral

There's another thing I heard about too, where you can accelerate your metabolism by getting into the habit of taking deeper breaths when you breathe. More oxygen in your system = more ability to burn what you eat. That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

Most importantly, do something that's also fun. (I'm trying to get on a diet of Japanese food! mrgreen )
