The Stalking Fairy

PostPosted: Fri Sep 12, 2008 4:39 pm

Okay it's a day late because I was stalled, but it took me two hours to type this up. And this story has my OCs in them.
Cemore and Kristy are twins, blond hair, golden eyes. Peony's younger siblings. Cemore is like, 21 while Kristy is 19. Melissa (if you're were in the same ToA RPs, you would know BUT) is the Summoner, and yeah I wont discuss in further detail; auburn hair, violet eyes, 21 (Imagine a bit of Yuna in the sending away part from FFX, zokay?). BUT, it's like, a year after ND 2018, meaning Luke is 18-19ish after Van fell off that thing and didn't show up. Yeah. It poured my heart into this, honestly. Piano music and a sad 9/11 text message really made me think about it. Hope you enjoy!

"One year... huh?" The blond haired male broke the deafening silence, his golden eyes, once gleaming, is now distant and hollow. He himself could not believe that such a tragedy happened in this world. Something so unbelievable, something that many wished is just a dream, but isn't. The cold chill of reality made his insides tingle with a sense of anxiety and fear. His keen ears picked up walking from Tear's direction.

The brunette approached from behind and walked about a step in front of him with her cerulean blue eyes, stiff and still. "...Yes." The thought that... this was his doing is shaking her in the inside on this very moment.

"Time went by so fast... I can't believe today is the day..." The dark haired girl lowered her head down and stared hard at her feet.

"Where's Luke and Mieu?" A rare weak voice was heard from behind, it was Kristy with her eyes large and at unease. Honestly, this is her first time acting like this.

Guy let the soft breeze flow by before speaking, "He... I don't think he'll come. Mieu is probably with him though."

That should be a fact, since the reason why everyone is grieving like this originates from Luke's actions. It was not on purpose and they all understood that. Yet, this man, Luke's babysitter, knew well that the red-haired boy's conscience is too shattered to even show up. It links up to the ones who lost their family members on this day, one year ago. It is either to forgive, or not to forgive.

The auburn haired woman shifted her gaze at a different direction meekly.

"He should." Her voice was very soft, but firm.

The main reason why this happened was because of that devil of a man, Van... All is good that he is dead, but she had to tone her hatred towards him a bit, even in her head because their enemy was Tear's brother. Melissa somewhat knew Luke, she definitely has a bond with him and was confident that he is that kind of person that should show up. He should... he has to.

"Yes, he should be here to regard our condolences." Jade, the man with the silent maroon-red eyes and the silver spectacles, took a small step to be acknowledged of his presence, even if he had done so already by standing there. "Though I see that it is entirely up to him."

"The Capital isn't so far away." Spoke a cracked voice of the Kimlascan Princess. "He might come."

Her pale complexion showed much frailness, but her emerald eyes were burning in sympathy. Her conscience is racking her very soul right now. It kills her on the inside that this catastrophe happened when she was there, and she could not stop it! A shame for a title such as a princess; it sullies her aching heart.

Cemore kicked a lonely pebble and watched it fly down the giant crater, the remains of Akzeriuth. It didn't fall into the abyss, though, it made a small, but significant sound when it clanged against the transparent fonic barrier that seals the crater. His golden eyes stared down, it was like looking at a mirror. It was done so on purpose for two reasons: one to seal it from letting anyone fall, and two... to let one reminisce of the pains and reflect on one's self. Just staring at his distant reflection from this levitation made his heart feel small and tightened. He has no grudge, of course, not on Luke, but on himself. As a heir of a royal family, he couldn't stop it. He let out a loud sigh, then stared down where the pebble used to be. This is a time where a person needs to think a lot.

Kristy watched the dust dispersing in the air after her twin brother kicked the pebble. It made her feel so melancholic, so lonesome... almost for the first time. All those little specks seemed similar to those who died in this incident; they were there for a second, then gone... just like that. It made her want to sob, madly but her personality wouldn't allow it. Plus, the one who... sort of caused this was their friend and she knew he didn't mean it at all... Though still, this is so overwhelming. She then heard sniffles near her. Her golden eyes glanced sideways to see the dark haired girl, Anise, covering her eyes. The Kimlascan Princess, Natalia, joined along in the silent weep of distress. Soon, she felt her own tears brimming her eyes too and didn't care who is here watching... She had to contribute her sympathy and grieving.

The sounds of crying filled her ears silently, her violet eyes were still staring straight at the massive crater where it once was covered with land. Melissa watched in muteness when she saw people walking down the man-made steps to the glistening mirror-like fonic barrier. People were crying and were staring at the thousands of names carved into it. All the ones that lost their lives, the ones that didn't know that this would happen the day before... they died clueless; oblivious of their death. Her heart throbbed, flipped to a downcast; it made her feel so weak on the inside. Tears, her enemy, she wont let it prevail, even at a mournful event as this. The only thing she did to contribute to alleviate some problems were to send the souls of the dead up to the heavens. Of course, back then, her powers weren't so strong and probably sent about half or less away. Still, it didn't seem enough. Even after that action, they continue to cry and wail. It hurts her and encouraged her confidence to help... More. Her hands clasped together delicately as she stood there with the others.

"...We should get down ourselves, shouldn't we?" She spoke, her voice calm, still, and unruffled. Her eyes were distanced from the others with great certainty and ever-flickering confidence. Hiding her feelings is her trump card, a passive skill that never lets her down.

Guy noticed the unusual expression on the woman's face, then forced a small smile of unease. The crying from the two girls behind, it made him jumpy and insecure. "Yeah, we should."

It was a year ago... One year. Amazing, it seemed so long ago. The fatal move his best friend made inflicted hurt to so many in one move, but it recoiled greatly to his own conscience. He knew Luke well enough that he's sulking and reflecting himself right this moment somewhere. He felt a bit regretful that he let Luke stay back... Guy thought that Luke needed space, especially on a day like this, but letting him think too much on his own is bad too. Though, it slightly assured him the other way that Mieu is there with Luke, hopefully the little critter can get things straight if Luke pulls a 'stupid' like when he called himself 'worthless' and other junk. Watching from this hill certainly creates tension when they stare down at this breathless vista. Breathless can be defined in many ways: breathless when one loses one's breath out of crying, breathless out of sanity, or breathless at this beauty of a true humans nature; sadness.

"Are you guys alright? Do you want to leave?" He asked the girls.

"N-No... Of course not!" Anise blurted with a tear trickling down her puffed cheeks. "We were barely here... give us a break!"

"Yes... please. I wish to stay longer." Natalia spoke between trembling lips.

"So don't be a boob." Kristy turned around so her back faced everyone else, embarrassed that she had her tears out of her ducts as well.

Guy was a bit startled with that reaction, but then he relaxed once he understood. "Okay."

"Don't push yourselves, though." Jade remarked nonchalantly, his eyes narrowed to strain his vision down at the ones walking around the giant crater.

Sympathetic, yes that is how he is feeling. A wrong move by a companion, a move he did not predict. It was saddening to him in a different way, a morale dropper. He wished to take the blame, but knew well that the others would not allow it. As for Luke, Jade himself came to agree that it was not entirely his fault. Either that, or he is just blurring the harsh truth. Childish, simply that. One must face it front, though felt pity once he thought about it again. All those down there probably hate Luke unintentionally. They did not even meet the person, and yet, they hate him already. 'That's how a human mind works', Jade mused to himself silently. A good thing was that no one else besides the seven here, Mieu, Ion, Asch, and probably all of the God-Generals who aren't dead already. A dilemma for Luke, the one thing he must battle throughout his entire life is this... To be honest, Jade somewhat feared that Luke, who is like a child now, would actually overcome this and become more... what? Mature and insightful than him? Well of course not, but in a way the Necromancer himself could not explain.

"I'll be heading down first then." After that, he excused himself by walking down the poor concrete steps to a lower levitation.

"H-How?" That was all Anise managed to say between her raining sobs. She deliberately walked away from Guy when he approached. "I'm... I'm... I'm okay!" She paused, then shook her head furiously. "I'm looking for Ion!" Without another word, she darted away in the opposite direction, out of sight.

"Anise!!" Melissa called out, then exhaled once she confirmed to herself that the girl wont come back until later.

Cemore sucked in the cool air, then let it out between the cracks that separate his teeth, tooth by tooth. "Careful old man. Here I'll come with ya and help out." The blond glanced at Kristy, nodded, then went along to follow the Colonel. In the year that pasted, some cities reached out their hands to aid and contribute gald to create a small memorial plaza here. There are steps and roads that circle around the giant crater, some buildings, statues of the honored, a single church, and others. It was made so people can navigate around to send their condolence.

"Oh, I appreciate the help." Jade replied, obviously in a sarcastic matter.

"No worries, gramps." Cemore winked, with a hoarse laugh. Oh the mood-lifting lines aren't working...

Melissa shook her head, then glanced over at Tear, who had been silent the whole time, The brunette was just standing there at the furthest where the land under her feet is thin and weak. Honestly, if the railings weren't there, there might have been a chance that she would tumble down like a log. The still figure of her seemed so peaceful, so silent, as if her mind is at ease. Though the Summoner knew far too well that Tear also felt responsible for this terrible event. Van, Luke, these people... Yes, she understood her feelings. "Natalia, do you need to sit?"

"I'm..." The blond hiccuped, then began wheezing when she choked on her tears. Her eyes were now swollen and red from the crying. It wasn't enough, no it wasn't! She... felt responsible for no reason. "I'm..." Too frail, too delicate. She had no voice to deny right now so she let Melissa help her to sit on a bench nearby. She diverted her eyes to Kristy, her 'rival', who is standing the furthest away with her head tilting upwards as if she was looking at the sky. Fighting back tears, it was obvious. Though, she felt slightly discouraged and defeated to see Kristy winning at her battle while her, the princess, lost miserably. The princess was also envious of Melissa and her powers of fighting back tears completely. All she saw on her face was that usual glow and that colorful smile on her face. This was also obvious to her, the Summoner is also fighting back emotions as the seconds tick by. This was somewhat... disappointing that she, the third oldest of the girls, was the one bawling the most without a fight.

"It's okay... " The auburn haired woman cooed softly to, hopefully, sooth the girl's wavering feelings. Honestly, she couldn't think of anything else than that. This is a moment where everything speaks for itself, where actions can be made, where thoughts of what should not have been done cannot be undone. Such grief, it pains her, still.

Guy stifled a shudder when he approached Kristy, a foot away from her. "You can cry too, you know."

The blond turned around as if she was offended. "I'm not going to cry! Dumbass!" That scorn only triggered her to whimper; a sign of more tears. "L-Look what you've done..." She covered her face, afraid that he would see her cry. "Boob..."

"Kristy...!" Melissa spoke with disdain in her voice. Her eyes were filled with solicitude when they met Kristy's golden orbs.

"It's okay..." Guy chuckled dryly while running a hand through his blond hair. Yeah, it's done now, he can't lift up the mood no matter what. Though he didn't want to mope around either... even if he really feels the sympathy for the deceased. No, it feels as if he gave it all away already and now he is feeling strong all of the sudden. 'Prosperity after the storm, huh?' He thought with a musing half-smile. "Should we all go down there with Cemore and Jade, then?" he suggested out loud, "Tear?"

"It's okay, you go." Tear stood motionless, her face was fixed and her eyes remained staring below. A strong wind blew again, this time, her chocolate brown strands of hair ticked her cheeks and brushed her eyelashes. She blinked a few times to disarm the tears that were about to form because of the hair getting in contact with her eyes, then she pulled her hair behind her ear. It was like a melancholic song that is ringing in her ears. The soft and low voice whose notes makes her brain shrivel with perplexity. An interesting song, though... It made her reminisce about a lot of things.

Melissa nodded once when she sensed that Tear needed some alone time. "Natalia, do you want to go too?" She assumed that the princess wanted to go with that blank stare at the ground and a movement with her head. "Kristy?"

"Fine!" She blurted out loud rudely. It was out of pitch, but hey, she's nearing to bawl. A few seconds later, she lowered her head, then spun around to face Melissa. "Sorry..." Her voice was tinged with shame and downcast.

"Let's go then." Guy spoke with the same casual tone as before. He felt a little bad that he was being so casual with this, his speaking, actually. When once is sad, they tend to, by human nature, show it verbally and orally. It's very hard to hold it back, and he noted that Melissa possesses the skill just as well. He didn't know about her, but he already thought it through many many times in that short amount of time. The ones that died, that boy they failed to save... Yeah, he's mature enough to not blame it on anyone, even himself. He did admit his own faults, then decided to shift it away. Feeling deeply in woe and sad is something he can store away in his mental cabinet easily, for example, his own past. "Do you need a hand?" he asked the Princess, a few feet away from her actually.

"No... I can stand." And with that, she stood and walked down the steps first silently. Dashing after her was Kristy, who also followed her down in utter muteness.

Melissa stood up and drew a little closer to Guy, not too close because of his renown phobia. Both of them were doing well with maintaining their feelings, but this feeling around Tear. The air felt so tense and ominous with the melodist just standing there like that. It was as if she was statued as a holy figure. "Tear, we're leaving." She called out just so the girl can acknowledge it. There was no reply, but a small movement of the head that indicated that she had heard. She recoiled her head stiffly to the side while staring at Tear before glancing away. "Alright then... We'll catch up back at the Commemorative Garden."

Guy gave Melissa a look that meant for her to ease down a notch. She took it in with a small shy nod before walking down the steps ahead. The blond haired male naturally followed her and kept a keen eye out just to be ready if she trips of anything related to that. Quite humorous and hazardous at the same time, she tends to trip or fall sometimes. Of course, the gentleman and the quick to dive in, he would usually save her from the hard ground.

"Do you think Tear will be fine?" She asked aloud.

Guy nodded skeptically. "Yeah... I'm sure she'll be. She's pretty strong, you know."

"Yeah I know," She then paused, "so... Luke, he's really not coming at all?" She was disappointed. The week before, she was urging him softly to come.

"Highly doubt it." He spread his hand on his cheek, then mused. "Dunno though... sometimes he changes his mind. Pretty bipolar if you ask me but... he has his ways. Don't worry." He said with an assuring grin.

"Figured much." She said dryly with a wry smile upon her peerless rose-pink lips.

Back there, Tear was continuing her reflection upon the things she had failed to do. Painful, it was so painful. It was etching across her heart, searing it apart, chapping her lips, freezing her lids, and drying her eyes with the breeze. Her own heartbeat was beating slowly, the blood was coursing through her veins are a very unusually steady rate. She hesitated when she blinked after a long while. Then it began to hurt, so she closed her eyes shut. To her utmost failure, a tear roamed down from her eyes, slicing her cheek crookedly with its transparent path. So unreal... Just so unreal. This made her realize about her whole life... About Van, about Luke... about everything! Unbearable, her very soul can just shatter right now! She gasped for air when she realized that she wasn't breathing the whole entire time for fifteen long seconds. The melodist hacked to regain the lost oxygen and overcome the recoil that hit her. The noise that came to piece her senses and the stillness was the sound of soft footsteps rubbing against pickled dry grass and sand. With startle, she turned around immediately just so her blue orbs would widen in astound as they meet with calm evergreen eyes.

"Luke?" She ushered softly, then felt the chill of that path when the wind blew and made it slightly frigid. The girl turned her head, then placed her hand on her cheek where the tear trail was, then slid it down to wipe it away.

The red-haired boy nodded solemnly with his eyes in a slight downcast; apparently, he didn't notice the tear trail from this distance. Truthfully, he wasn't crying before he made up his mind to get here. He almost did, but didn't because he really thought about it. Plus, he met Asch along the way. Luckily for the original, Luke wasn't in the mood to start up a petty fight. The anniversary of the destruction of Akzeriuth, in other words, this was a day of mourning because of his doings. He hated Van for tempting and manipulating him like that, but then... he could not genuinely loathe the man for some reason. "Yeah...?" he asked, his voice still, but weak.

"So you really came."

"I... had to." Those words came out as if he hated them. He couldn't lie to Tear, "Mieu kinda told me..."

Tear held back a sharp comment, then turned around back at the vista. Luke immediately felt the cold shoulder from her, then shrugged in shame. He knew that she probably hated him too.

"I don't hate you." The girl's voice said suddenly.

Luke was appalled when Tear said that, it was as if she read his mind. "..." He sighed softly, then stared up at the sunny skies that gleam down upon them. It was like... the heavens were mocking them to be so happy on a mournful day... Though, on the other hand, if it were to rain, it might just bring the mood up to a point that might lead to trouble. "Thanks... Tear."

Tear exhaled loudly with her hands clasped tightly around the railings. "And..." She spun around to face him again. His pitiful face looked up at her as if he was a lost and hungry puppy from the streets. That disappointed her even more. "Don't go doing any of that."

He raised a brow, "What?"

"Don't try and repeat that thought like back at the Tower of Rem." She snapped harshly. She watched as Luke flinch, then relax a few seconds after.

"I... I wont..."

She herself relaxed and cooled down. That sudden burst of anger literally come out of no where. She turned around again with her back facing against him. Luke seized the moment to shrug away from the previous scolds and approach next to her to join in her gazing. "I... I'm the reason why those people are crying." He uttered softly.

"Can you do anything about it?"

Luke gulped slightly because of the coldness of her tone and the height. Turbulence is much stronger at higher levels, unfortunately for him. "I can't... I want to... beg for their forgiveness."

"Things don't work that way."

Again, another knife statement. He cowered down to stare at his hands that are wrapped around the icy cold steel railings. "Then at least tell me how...!" His fingers tightened, then relaxed once he realized something. Maybe he really shouldn't be talking anymore. He is now expecting her to yell and bark at him. Luke readied by inching away from her.

"...Just let time deal with it." She spoke coolly. "Keep living... and eventually, they'll learn to forgive. Keep living, that's all I have to say." Tear kept her attention straight forward, the view of the ocean is a little blurry, but can still be seen. Just anything to keep her eyes away from those green orbs or else she'll burst.

Luke softened his eyes, understanding what she said. 'So she really is concerned?' He smiled to himself. Unless he interpreted those words wrong in his head... but still, it means a good thing right? "Thanks... Tear."

'I'm glad... that she's the one watching over me.' The sense of secureness, safety, and everything related to that. It feels good... It feels good to be alive. Damn the problems, the hardship of life. Thinking today really made him open his eyes and realize some things. Eventually, he'll make it up for all of these people, for all of those names inscribed in the fonic barrier. Once he gains the right courage, strength, and time, he'll be the one there and look at his reflection. He wont deny that he did this, no. A replica, he is, but in the mirror, he still has his own reflection.
