The year is 1650.
Times have grown dark in Western Europe. The king has lost his power to protect and as a result has lost the loyalty of his subjects; who now flee to strongholds built by local lords, pledging loyalty to them in return for protection. These strongholds have grown into several "towns", each with it's own independent economical system supported by the labours of peasants. While sufficient to survive, this has hindered the cultural development of the people.
Eastern Europe has fared slightly differently. The Byzantine Empire has long fallen to the Ottomans, who have declared the previous grounds of the Holy Roman Empire theirs. However, the Ottoman Empire has not been spared from strife. With the death of the sultan, his harem of wives struggle for control, trying their best to establish their sons as the next and rightful heir.
Japan follows a system similar to Europe, where the Emporer has lost his power, and shoguns aquire the loyalty of the people. The Tokugawa Shogunate rules the land with an iron fist, preventing the total unity of its people, but provides a strained peace. How long that peace will be kept will be determined by how long the Shoguns will be content with the lands they currently hold...
This is the time of legend. When knights in shining armor battle fierce dragons. When peasants rise up to be kings. When samurai defend their code of honor. When fair maidens profess love to their chosen heroes.
When one finds their destiny.
Now, RP-er, come forth! A world of strife and hope, a world of struggle and peace, a world of endless fantasy and harsh reality, lies before you! Take the first step, and dive headfirst into this endless world of wonders and enchantment!
