This time I mean FBI special agent A. Pendergast. He is the brainchild of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.
Imagine a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Hannibal Lecter. Now put him in a world like the late 20th century United States but where monsters are real, magic works and at least two people have secretly lived to be centuries old.
I heartily recommend "Relic" but not its sequel, "Cabinent of Curiosities" (my favorite), and "Still Life With Crows"
