A pitch black dragon moved out for the shadows of his cave, there he stood on the ledge in the morning's sun light. He tilted his scaly head towards the sky and gave a small sigh. His wings shifted a bit on his back and he moved his attention towards the forest in the valley below. He would go visit with his wolf friends later. But first he would have to go hunting for some breakfast. His stomach gave a small grumble in protest to its hunger.

He gave one small glance back at the sky before retreating back into his cave. There he would stay until the sun was a bit higher in the sky. Then he should be able to find a deer or two with in the woods below, that should keep him until later that night where he would go hunting once more.

As the sun inched its way above the horizon, Treven was already outside starting on his daily chores. At only 16, he was souly in charge of not only the family land, but his family as well. He knew all too well of the troubles and sadness the disappearing of the dragons had caused. For centuries the Moltar family had owned dragons which were passed down to the next generation like a heirloom. As the last few generations passed, the family had lost one dragon at a time, with no warning and no sign of where they could have gone. The last dragon which the Moltar family claimed had disappeared close to Treven's 10th birthday. Shortly after his birthday, he also lost his father to the rising of a group of dragon seekers who had come through town recruiting. There was no telling where his father was, dead or alive, but he rose every morning before the sun to carry out the task of being in charge. His mother, two sisters and baby brother depended on him to do labor on their land and keep the livestock and crops healthy so that they could sell it to the town market.

Treven wiped his tanned forearm across his forehead, beads of sweat weighing down the hair on his arm. He looked to the horizon, and for one second questioned where his father was and what he might be doing, but shook his head and reminded himself that in order to keep up his responsibilities and dependency on himself, that he needed to believe that there was no way that his father would return and that everything was up to him.

Zak shook his head almost to as if trying to shake a feeling off of him, that feeling he was trying to shake was his hunger. He would eat later, he promised himself that. Moving his bulk to his feet he shifted to his human form, a rare aspect among dragons, but this ability allowed him to walk among the humans unnoticed. Now a days most were not to be trusted, but there were few he did, and in the nearest village he knew he could trust them enough. Many had once befriended dragons there working in companionship peacefully. Zak had a feeling he knew why the dragon's were disappearing, that feeling was deep in his gut and he didn't want to believe that, that man was still alive.

He shook his head once again before he dropped down from his ledge his feet landing firmly on the forest ground. He shifted once more this time into a wolf and then darted through the forest, running quickly through the trees. Lately the forest was growing smaller, as the humans who lived on the edge of it were cutting down the trees. Sooner or later he would have to move from his mountain cave that nestled near the edge of the forest. He hated moving and he liked the area he was in. Maybe he could go talk to the village folk and see if they would stop cutting down the trees.

The wolf ran the wind rushing against the fur on his face. It didn't take him long until he reached near the edge of the forest. When he did he shifted back to his human form, his cloths made him look like a traveler from the lands beyond the mountains.

Sasha helped Treven tie up the last bag of potatoes from the crop. She was only 4 when their father left so Treven didn't expect her to remember what life was like around the property when father was in charge. All she knew was that she couldn't wait until Gordon, their 17-month old brother was old enough to help with the yard labor. Sasha liked to stay inside with their mother to help sew and cook, something she'd been taught as soon as she could walk.

Treven assured the family he would be back by mid-day tomorrow and took his leave with a full load of fruits, vegetables, 2 pulling horses and 2 cows which he would try to sell while in town. Once a month the town would bustle with people like him with goods to be sold and more supplies to be bought. There were many travelers from out of town who would show up with new and fascinating trinkets which would be labeled as 'rare' or 'original', and the women would gather around vendors who laid out shiny jewelry and elaborate clothing. When Treven's father would take him to town with him for marketing, he would be reminded never to bring his mother or sisters as his father watched the giggling group of women with somewhat of a disgusted face. There was a time when the XXX family was able to lavish themselves in such things, but as the generations of dragons has left, so had their luck and with that, their money. Father had taught him that material possessions were of no worth and unnecessary. He would often tell of his great uncle who squandered most of the family fortune on gambling, so sure that just because the dragons had gone it didn't mean that his luck had as well. How wrong he was.

Treven could faintly hear the bustling of the town a mile ahead.

He continued to walk the rest of the way through the forest and into town. As he moved towards the outskirts of town he could hear the faint buzz of noise from the many people and venders in the town. He needed information and a good meal, he still was unsure on his assumption but if the towns people or others in town saw any of the incidents where the dragons had disappeared maybe he could link it back to that man.

The first stop was the butchery. He bartered with the butcher for the cows he had brought and the end result was less than he had hoped for, but it was necessary for him to take any deal. He suspected that the butcher knew this. He left the butcher and opened his wagon to begin to sell his crops to prospectors walking by.

Zakiax slipped his hand with in the left pocket of his pants. Feeling his money pouch he gave a small smile. "Good it's still in this form," he muttered to himself as he began to walk through the many venders, he listened to the many conversations that happened around him, weeding out the unimportant information which most of it was. He soon found himself near a lad and his cart, Zak's blood red eyes fell upon the horses. He slipped behind the cart near the horses. His hand reached out and touched the brown one on the nose and it snorted at him, then giving a small whinny. "Hmm, I see," He muttered. He may be a dragon but he didn't hurt animals, the only type of meat he would eat was fish, and maybe once and a while a deer only if it asked him to put it out of its misery.

Business was slow which proved that Treven was right in regards to believing he should have left a bit earlier. He hoped tomorrow morning would bring more business. He stepped around the open cart to check on the whinied horse and noticed a boy caressing his horse. Treven approached this person.

"I'm sorry but my horses are not for sale."

"I know, you wouldn't be able to get home with out them," Zakiax replied stroking the horse on the nose, who snorted at him. "They are both very intelligent. They both worry for you and your family."

An 18 year old woman with long ember hair, set high in pigtails, light toned skin with of course that dazzling... Annoyed smile? "Mobin fine... I'll find us some food." the green eyes shifted towards her companion with golden scales, ash colored eyes with a large toothy grin. It's wings shifted lightly on it's back as its long snake like tongue licked it's chops, "Thank you my dear, you won't regret it." the eurpoen dragon chuckled, watching as the small 5'5 girl walked off towards the town, holding a sack of gold. "Damn dragon... How is it he always seems to win?" she sighed, the left scared arm tossed the bag into the air, catching it again in her right gloved hand.

Those two could resemble a brother and sister for how much agruing seems to happen between them. Yet, the team was even stronger when it came to battle; well when they weren't fighting over a freshly cut lamb I suppose.

The girl continued to advance forth, seeming to skip every now and then to pass the time. It wasn't the dragons fault he couldn't walk into town himself but food was scarce recently and the money was coming short. Even though the mission came first, they would need to find some sort of job soon. What mission it was? Well, to protect the dragons of course but how funny long ago that wasn't the case? The woman was a commen theif and Mobin was a fierce monster who in his old time devoured humans and stole gold. When the two finally met, well lets say it ended in that odd scar that wraped about the left arm and friendship. Not to mention the necklace she wore, shaped like a golden sun was also a nice addition. If it wasn't for that pretty thing, it was doubted the two would have met.

As the girl continued towards the town which soon would come into view, the dragon back in the forest was wondering what the small thing may get, "I hope Amber buys a cow... Oh... Or maybe a sheep.." the tail swayed as the monster seem to drool from the very thought, wishing that he could fly there himself to obtain such a meal. As he passed the time however, it wasn't all just day dreaming; the large dragon spotting an apple tree above his head, knowing his small friend would rather have something juicy then organs in that innocent diet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Far away within another kingdom of the lands, a man of tall stature walked through a town. This town was a town of burning houses and building with the stench of burning flesh. The man had dark red hair with burning red eyes, there was a smile on his face, his face had many droplets of blood on his, blood from the people who had inhabited this town. The man's right hand rested crossed his body on the hilt of his long sword. He loved this smell, this feeling after utterly destroying something, though before he destroyed this town he found some useful information. "Time to move on," He mused to himself as he began to walk away from the burning town.
The nostrils flared, the wings rose towards a defensive position. Smoke, blood... Human blood did it wiff past the Eurepons dragons nose, the golden scales seeming to rise up like a frighten cat. It wasn't in the direction of where Amber walked to thankfully, "I'm growing soft..." he smiled, the talens gripping a landfull of dirt as he took off into the sky. He would be back before his human sister would notice...
The wings flapped against the winds tide, the tail slithering along behind him. Mobin continued to advance forth as Amber finally found the town.
Amber began to whistle, the human sences unaware that her dragon companion had departed to explore. All the thoughts currently now were to find some food. A plump cow caught the womans eye, no one was standing beside it, "My friend would like you." she smiled towards the beast, patting its wet nose with the gloved hand.
