In Guerilla Warfare, Che states the belief that an unconventional combat force should be eventually converted into a conventional force at arms. While this would eventually happen after a revolution there would be a series of problems if one were to do it before such time had elapsed.

1. Armies in any nation state are trained in conventional warfare to an expert level which leads to two basic problems in addition. (a) The old regime trains its' soldiers to obey a system of direct appointment with as little information as possible to the individual soldier whom operates as a cog in a much more vast machine. This is the opposite of unconventional warfare success and training. (b) Unconventional forces would be at a severe disadvantage in material e.g. Jets, Bombers, Nuclear Missiles and in short, People.

2. The examples provided of peoples' struggles have shown that a superior conventional force is very much more often the victor against an inferior conventional force e.g. Easter Uprising of 1916 or the recent war in Iraq. which in the case of both nations a sustained unconventional force has proven far more successful.
