It's Napoleon meets Dragons! A series about a rare dragon by the name of Temeraire (he was named after a ship, as his rider was a part of the Navy) and his battles in an alternative history version of the Napoleonic Wars; great for history and fantasy fans alike! Naomi Novik's writing style really dazzles me and I am personally offended at the lack of popularity this series is getting compared to Eragon (not that I hate this series, but comparatively...), Twilight, Harry Potter, etc. It's probably because the main character isn't particularly young (he's not old... but he's got a few more years on him than Eragon or Harry). Oh! The director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson, has gained the rights to make the movie adaptation for His Majesty's Dragon (the first book) and he'll probably start up with that after Lovely Bones.
Anyway, this is easily my favorite book series out there, and it ranks pretty high up on my recommended reads list. So - anybody else a fan?
