Disneyana had followed her family for a day out, of course the adult didn't realize it, she purred and rubbed against the little legs of her little girls. She watched as their parents walked them away for an ice cream. With a smile she turned to find herself a treat, she was filled with nervous energy never having been so far from the residential neighborhood. Still the adventure was quite exciting, and she had memorized the way home as she walked, not that her natural instincts would have failed her if she hadn't.

Skirting away from the busy streets she moved along the quieter sidewalks and smiled up at the people with her bright eyes. She just knew one of them would produce a treat if she was sweet enough.

Emerdon was happy to be out. Owned by a couple, he was forced to wait until they left the house before he could escape: through, of course, the hole in the attic window. Not wanting to worry them, he always waited patiently until they had each gone to work before emerging into the outside world.

Hopping from the top of a fence, he made his way cheerfully along the street, keeping an eye out for any neighborhood Jellicles he knew. It had rained earlier in the morning, so most of the local crowd appeared to be sleeping it off or staying put for the day.

Dancing for a moment on his paws, he jumped between posts in the fence along the sidewalk and breathed deeply. Maybe he would stop by that French cafe his close friend had recommended...

Disneyana had just wandered up to a little cafe and with a mewl and a rub against a gentle humans legs she was soon lapping cream out of a delicate saucer. She licked her lips and decided to sit a while, she wasn't in much of a hurry to be anywhere in particular and now that she had banished her fear of wandering around she was quite eager to explore.

She lifted her head and looked around curiously as her nose twitched, she could have sworn another feline was in the vicinity. Her green and blue eyes scanner about curious and eager to meet another jellicle. It would seem she had lived quite an antisocial life, and intended to remedy that quickly.

Emerdon coolly jumped back up on top of the fence, meaning to scope out the cafe before venturing further. Standing expertly on the thin posts, he turned his head and noticed another cat amongst the tables of Humans.

He recognized the she-cat as a Jellicle immediately, though he did not know her personally. Happily he let out a sing-song note, his bright eyes glancing around to see if any others were nearby. Sigh. The rain's dampened eager Jellicle paws; the sour mood that a raincloud draws!

He yawned, licking one of his paws thoughtfully.

Her eyes darted instantly up as she heard him and with a nuzzle for the human she slipped away and leapt up onto the fence. She balanced herself a moment and then perched casually her tail wavering side to side.

"Greetings, greetings! I'm Disneyana." Her voice was soft an affectionate, calm and reassuring, surely it would soothe even the most distraught of minds. She let her eyes roam over the other cat taking in everything from the tips of his ears to his whiskers, paws, claws, and the very tip of his tail.

"Saaalutations," Emerdon sang cheerfully, twitching the tip of his tail. He nodded in greeting to the she-cat. "Pity about the weather today!" He had not seen this particular queen in the area before, but he was glad for any friendly face. He noted that she must be out with her Humans (after the rub she gave one of them before jumping up to meet him.) He smiled, tilting his head.

"Yes, I might have been content to stay curled up at home, but the family is out and it would be a pity to just lay there." She looked up at the sky tilted her head a bit. "Looks like it'll clear up anyway, I'm sure tomorrow will be cloud free."

She turned her attention back to the male "Do you come out often? I've never been so far from home! It's all quite..." She looked around at the sidewalks, the people walking around, and even dogs being led past. "Stimulating!"

Emerdon smiled. "Yes, I am out nearly every day - Humans and weather permitting, of course." He knew of other Jellicles that preferred to stay indoors, but he found it a bit odd. I suppose almost all Jellicles find some way to make it to the Ball, but...

"This is a relatively good neighborhood," Emerdon said, keeping an eye on Disneyana's Humans down at the cafe. "There are several other Jellicles in the area, but most seem to be sle~eping aw~ay the da~ay," he sang, ending with a slight chirp.

He paused. "It is, after all, near noon, but..."

She laughed as he sang and joined in for a few lines "As laaa-zy as can be, they sl-eee-p aw-aaay the daa-y" She followed his gaze and looked at the human who had given her the cream.

"What are you looking at...Goodness I haven't asked for you name!" She ducked her head a bit ashamed for not having asked sooner.

"Oh!" Emerdon said, surprised that he should forget to introduce himself. He smiled. "My name is Emerdon."

He hopped a little on his paws, looking back over the cafe. He couldn't abide by cream; it gave him an upset stomach no matter how tempting it was. He kept a careful eye on the Humans.

"It's much more lively around here at night," he said as way of conversation.

"Emerdon." She nodded softly with a smile as she committed the name and the jellicle to match into her memory. With some kindness, and some luck she might have some friends out in the wide world soon enough. She focused back on the all black male at his words.

"More humans? Or more of our own kind? I haven't had much chance to meet many others. I would think the humans would leave this place for the comfort of their homes at night. They don't appreciate the moon and stars quite the way most of us do." She shook her head at the antics of people, or worse dogs.

"Oh no, Jellicles dance under the moon, while humans sleep, oft till noon!" He purred in satisfaction. Disneyana's starkly different eyes spoke to him: large and with a glint, like his own. He noted this, feeling sure they were of the same type of stock. It was always a pleasure to meet a fellow out here in the wide world.

Picking his way carefully along the fence, he jumped over Disneyana and landed behind her, still balancing between the fence posts. He smiled over his shoulder. "I was just coming this way today to enjoy some of this cafe's fine dining. I have a friend in the...business, I guess you could say. He often recommends places. I haven't tried this one out. Care to join me?"

He walked easily along the fence, stopping near the edge to look back at Disneyana. The cafe's awning was just a leap away, which was where he meant to go. It was polite to wait and see if she would come first, though.

"Of course, especially if it comes well recommended." She purred and twisted on the fence before leaping to follow him curiosity driving her.

She wondered for a moment how Emerdon planned to get any of the cafe's fine fare perhaps he too was a creature as charming as she when it came to humanity.

Emerdon, happy to oblige, leaped from the fence onto the cafe awning, scampering up to the first floor roof. This caused quite a stir in the Humans below: Emerdon laughed, a cat-laugh, a musical chirping and pleasant meow-ing.

On the shingles of the roof he stepped from one to the other, tapping with his claws. He really was in a good mood today. But how can I not be! The sun is back out of her cloudy cradle~ hullo, sun!

He hopped further upward, trotting around the side of the quaint cafe to the back. He sang as he went: Who cares what they're wearing...on Main Street, or Saville Row! It's what you wear - from ear - to ear! And not from head to to-o-oe...

Disneyana found herself following the other feline with an amused laugh spilling from her lips as she went along. Her ears perked and swiveled to catch his every song.

She leapt to his side and followed him to the back of the cafe her nose giving an experimental sniff of the air. Her eyes gleamed as they scanned everything with care, after all it wouldn't do to end up lost somewhere.

"You have quite the voice Emerdon." She gave an impressed nod.
