well i know for most people here on gaia,
We all speak
English.

But can you speak YOUR language?
Let's say you're chinese, can you speak Chinese?
Let's say you're japanese, can you speak Japanese?
Ect... for every other culture.

If so,
What language is it ?
How did you learn it ? Did you take school for it ?
Do you speak it often at home or with friends or something?

... And If not,
Do you feel ashamed not knowing your language ?
Do you want to learn it ? Or are you in the middle of learning it ?
Can you still understand the people speaking to you in that language, even if you can't respond back the same way ?

OMG!
Me too!
I can't speak Tagalog at all. I know little.
Not enough to save my life.

I get annoyed sometimes because I cant understand what relatives say to me.
Sometimes they speak to me in English but slowly change back into Tagalog.
Which is annoying. =(

I'm a Filipina...and I do speak Tagalog--not as fluently as my parents though. They usually pull a lot of words on me so fast that I end up going, "What?"

I think I learned it because I was raised in the Philippines for eight or nine years (I was born here, but then we moved back). Everyone spoke Tagalog to me. I wish I could fix my accent a bit more though. x3 The only thing I'm probably bad at is writing/typing in Tagalog because I never did it. D:

I'm also part Chinese...I really wish I could speak it. ._.

@Tatsumi: That's so cool that you can understand Ilocano. ^^ My brother in law speaks that dialect and I can't understand anything of it. xD;

I'm Cambodian and I can speak it, but not very well. x__x
Yes, I'm ashamed. ahaha. ><
(It's kind of funny/sad 'cause when I was about 3 years old I could speak it fluently but now ... I can't. xD weird huh ?)
But when people talk to me in Cambodian I understand it.
I reply in English too. xD

I learned most of it from my family and by watching Cambodian movies. xD
currently learning french ! <3

I can speak Chinese, French, and English. I guess my Chinese is considered kind of good for an ABC. People usually can't tell the difference when I go back to Taiwan. Except when they start talking about politics. Then I'm like, "Whatttt?" xD
I can understand Hokkien, and speak a little. But not really enough to go into long conversations.

I'm not that great at it. I always slurr in English words in my sentences `cuz I don't have a huge vocab in the language.
But I guess I'm pretty good at it. I can understand it when people talk to me or when I listen to it. ;]]
I wants to learn how to write in Chinese though and sing in Canto. -feels ashamed-
@-@
Errm. I learn Canto from my family and from watching lots of Chinese films and dramas. ;]]
I'm attempting to learn Japanese, but I sound weird. Hehehe...

Have been built
In between us
Too many dreams
Have been shattered
Around us

I'm Toisanese [Chinese/Cantonese]. I can speak Cantonese, but not that well and so is Mandarin. >.<
But I'm still learning though.

I am currently learning Japanese through Anime. And Korean through drama. =)

I speak a little bit of Laos, but I understand more than I can speak. My grandma is the only one that I need to speak Laos more often and maybe my dad.
Yes, I feel ashamed that I know little but I'm learning! (:
