ive been first chair for a long time, ive praciced day in and day out
some songs have given me dificulties but usually i get them after practicing a lot
but for some unknown reason this one song continues to torture my reputation as a flute player:
Seventy six trombones
that song has caused troulble for ALL the flutes in my section, and the only flute ever to play it, was the last first chair, but shes graduated....
and no matter how much time i practice, this song is soooooooo, tough
its just so tough, its a 6/8 song and really fast,.
i feel sad crying ive played songs at a higher level than this, WHY IS THIS ONE TAUNTING ME?!?!?!

Go by it really really slow at first and make notes on the music like(keep in time!) and get it under your fingers so it just rolls...

I know what you mean. 6/8 time is a pain, but as a bassoonist, the only problems I have are not squeaking on the really low notes(which is hard when you're playing in marcato.)
Sorry, I can't help you. sad

have you tried practicing it slow and then speed it up gradually as you are able to play it at faster tempos until you get it up to tempo? sorry but thats the only thing I can really tell you. if you are having trouble with rythm, then write it out on your music. have your bd help you. thats what they are there for. Don't feel shame in writing on your music. professionals write on their music all the time. in fact, it looks pretty messy when they are done!
