It was recently brought to my attention that there are some people who don't really know that much about cars. So, I though a forum where they could pose their questions about lingo, or exactly what a 2JZ engine is right here. It will stay at the top so that it can be easily found. I do hope this helps those that aren't sure whats being said, and also to help promote the world of car fanatics!!

Okay I will be teaching you all a few things that I know and I expect critique for my knowledge as I am learning
first off
when you talk with cars there are three different ways of addressing them
Example:
The 1985 Toyota Corolla..
That name in of itself is easy to know, everyone knows the car.
But when I say:
AE86... what does that mean?
or how about Hachi Roku??
Well it all means the same car see the AE86 was the engine but in that era Corolla, and Hachi Roku is japanese for 8-6.
So there are three types of ling o out there 1. the actual car name
2. Something distinctive about that car such as the engine (Ae86) or maybe the model type (S13 which is the equivalent to the 1992 Nissan 240SX) and 3. the street name, like Eight-Six (87 corolla) or Silvia (which is the S13, or 240Sx)
okay part one is done more later as I see the need

Cavvi is the only nickname I've ever heard used.
Edit: Well, other than derogatory ones anyway.

Rykato Cavvi is the only nickname I've ever heard used. Edit: Well, other than derogatory ones anyway. There aren't many ot there who praise those cars. They are decent for driving around in. Although I will give it kudos for this...my sister has one. About six months ago, someone T-boned her. Messed it up bad. Against all odds, the thing still drives.
