The holiday times are coming up, and Ramadan has passed...
Im celebrating Dia de los Muertos with my sister, and shall call/send photos to my central American family, turkey day because i live in America, and Christmas because im a Christian :]
This year, Christmas will be the best yet since my fiancee is visiting from England, hooray ^^
* What are you celebrating?
* What does your family do for these days?
* Is there anything special about this year?

Well, we usually celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas as well, but we have different traditions for Christmas. We open presents on Christmas Eve. Usually my dad reads from Luke first and years ago, he would take out a recorder the play the Shepherd's Song and walk around the house and we'd all follow. I'm not sure why we did that. I think it comes from a Swiss tradition or something.
My second oldest brother visits for Christmas and I'll be glad to see him. I only see him at Christmas time because he lives on the other side of the country.
I hope everyone had a happy Eid.

The Not So Doomed Account
|
Posted: Sat Oct 04, 2008 11:00 pm
I'll be celebrating Jul, Påsk; Midsommar; and Allhelgona. xD
In order, in English: Christmas, Easter; Mid-summer, and All Saints' Night (also known as Halloween).
That, and a few birthdays. The rest of our holidays (with the exception of our Swedish National Holiday) are too unnoticable. xD I just chill on those days.

Yeah my fiancee is jealous that America has so many holidays, and all he has are some lame bank holidays where nothing ever happens XD Hrrrm...I'm trying to pronounce your holidays, but sadly i have no foundation for the language..Swedish aren't you?

Here on P.R. we celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas but we also celebrate the Three Kings day ( January 6 ) and " Las octavitas " which are the 8 days after Jan. 6
I love it. It's really fun and I can feel my chest filling with love and pride for my island and culture.

And I have no idea if it's my mind or what but the sky always looks really ...weird the first of Nov. Like it turns strong shades of orange and pink. Looks awesome though.

I've never seen something like that. We actually celebrate the day after All Saint's day. Finados, the day of the dead. Not a party like the mexicans. You just go to the cemetery and take flowers to the deceased family member's graves. I never did that, but it happened to be the only day of the year that there was a specific bus that stopped at the cemetaries.

I specifically don't celebrate that day cause I think that there is no specific day to honor the dead. Besides I would get out all sad so I rather be happy and not mope around O.O

The Not So Doomed Account

Technically, it's the day after Halloween - yes. But we've kind of merged the two holidays together - since they're similarly themed and coincide so close together.
I don't like Halloween's commercialism - so I opt to celebrate All Saint's Night instead. ^^;
