I love being a girl. Love it. My only problem? Not being able to preach. I want to be able to lead a church, recieve messages from God to touch the hearts of both the saved and unsaved, and just plain do as much as I can in the ministry by preaching. If any of you with advice or the same problem, please post here.

1 Timothy 3 Overseers and Deacons 1Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer,[a] he desires a noble task. 2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap. 8Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
11In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.
12A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. 13Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
Titus 1 6An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. 8Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. 9He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
I think it's pretty clear we're talking about a male-dominated role. When the Bible is explicitly clear on something, we need to make sure and remember that we can't "Have it your way" with the Bible. Not being able to preach because we are female is another part of Eve's curse that we must live with. This doesn't mean, however, that we can't do anything for our brothers and sisters in Christ. If you tell me more about how you'd like to help out in the church, maybe we can pinpoint a few ministries that you'd be interested in. 3nodding

If any of you with advice or the same problem, please post here. I see no reason you can't. If people are being weird and telling you that you can't preach because you are a girl, then they are no different than the devil. This is a touchy subject with me. Genderism is just like racism. At my church women can speak with no problem. Some of the leaders are women,in fact,my church is full of women! They far outnumber the men. Even though we have an awesome Pastor who is a man,he's not the only one to talk on the platform.

This doesn't mean women can't speak or teach in the Christian community, but they are not to be pastors or decons.

I was about to quote that passage myself for paf, but I read further, and saw that you took care of it. Lol I know I cannot be a pastor or preacher. I was just bellyaching because I was down.

I get down about that sometimes too. You just see so many opportunities to lead and think "Man, I wish I were allowed to do that so I could help out." It does burden the minds of women (especially when women are the majority of church-goers statistically) when there are empty positions in the church that NEED to be filled but can only be filled by men. The solution? Go win some men to the Lord and get them in your church, ha ha!

I totally think that its not right to have some guys be the only thing to fill certain areas cuz i know that in my church its more the women that get asked to do things rather than the guys... although i am not so sure why. I am one of the helpers at my church and i am being confirmed in november. two of the leaders of the sixth through eighth grade youth group are guys and they are looking to me as help because my generation is the future of the church so i am really getting involved because i like it. Well i guess thats all i have to say for now. Have a good and safe day and may the peace of the Lord God and Jesus Christ be with you all. smile
