Bands you've found that are similar to Muse?

I know we've already got a post running about what bands everyone likes, but I was just wondering what you guys felt were some bands stylistically similar to Muse? I've heard Radiohead is, but the songs I've listened to haven't really felt like them...
So, yeah, just looking for some cool new bands, as well.

I dunno...Ive been looking too, but I can't really find any bands that can simply compare to Muse. Does that sound lame?

I don't know, I just think no one can really achieve their sound.

I tend to consider the term "Similar to Muse", to mean, unfathomable to compare...

Certain bands have similarities. Others have none and are their own sound.

Try as we might, no band in existance to date sounds similar to Muse. And that's the factor that we "can" compare. Their inability to be compared is a quality that they could share.

With that said...I'm yet to find an example. But that could be because most of the music I listen to is either fully instrumental or foreign - and it's hard to compare them, given that instrumental tracks are only good if there's no "oh yeah, that's a x person track", and foreign music is hard to compare when you don't really have a wide selection to choose from in your stunted British interweb and HMV.

If you hadn't said it, I would've.

It depends, no band sounds like them altogether. But there are some that are similar in certain ways.

Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) was a big influence on Matt's playing, so there are a few similarities in the guitars there.

Vocally (And the mixing/production on Showbiz), Radiohead.

The piano/keys work borrows heavily from Rachmaninov, sometimes Matt just out-and-out steals from him.

I'm sure there are many others, but I'm not very broad in what I listen to.

"Megalomania" sounds somewhat like Radiohead's "Lucky". That's about as far as similarities between the two bands go. These days, their music is totally different.
I dare anyone to listen to "In Rainbows" and then "Black Holes and Revelations", and find any similarities between the two.

I haven't found any band that similar to Muse.
Like you say, many people says Radiohead sounds like Muse, but I don't think that at all. Matt's and Thom's voices micght be a bit alike but I don't think the music is alike at all. I like both though.

I think a big part of why people always say radiohead is because I'm pretty sure their one of Bellamy's biggest influence, and of course the vocal thing. They have similar emotional stylings and lyrics too.

The reason why muse doesn't sound like anyone else is because no good band sounds like any other band (unless they have rip off follower bands).

Back to the main point of the post, there are some Pixies songs that sound very similar to muse; i.e. 'Kinghts of Cydonia' and 'Cecilla Ann'.

Pink Floyd has some museish songs as well, or I guess it would be muse has some pink floydish songs.
