This one I'm actually deciding to cover due to the fact I was questioned about it earlier.
Thanatos is actually of Greek theology. He is known basically as the God of Death, but has close relations to the realm of sleep because his twin brother is Hypnos, God of Sleep.
One of the most popular tales involving Thanatos is the one that involves King Sisyphus.
In the tale, King Sisyphus is preparing to die, and thus Thanatos comes for him. Upon his coming, Sisyphus deceives Thanatos into his own shackles. With Thanatos shackled, he is unable to commit to his duties as the god of death, and no one dies.
How this is resolved has a tendency to vary (as always), but one of the more outstanding beliefs is that Ares frees him. Battles were being waged with no casualties, and this absolutely infuriated Ares to no end, and he then freed Thanatos.
This would be the first time that it has come to be that Thanatos has been deceived (cheating death).
That ladies and gentlemen, is my minute installment for the time being. Stay tuned for the next episode!!! scream

Yes actually, he is one of the more noticeable persons within Tartarus.
He was forever committed to pushing a boulder up a hill, just so every time he reached the top, it would roll back down.
The other mainly noted character in Tartarus was Tantalus (tantalize wink ). Tantalus was doomed to be forever thirsty and forever hungry while standing in a river with an apple tree looming over him. Every time he reached for an apple, the tree branches would pull back from him. Every time he kneeled with cupped hands to grasp water, it would recede from his reach.
Excellent work on that one. ninja
