Is there anything to do in Detroit?
Or is it just a forgotten ghetto?

LOL, Niagara Falls.

Uhm, there's that big waterfall thingy...

Butterfly conservatory

Lundies Lane to count all the strip clubs and witness all the sleaziness of this city

CASINO, more sleaziness, two to visit...

and the best part of NF, the festival of lights, which is highly overrated.

You can always try to go ice skating at Dufferin Island but you run the risk of drowning.

Damn, I hate this city.

There are a few neat things to do.
Like, If go through some of the old neighborhoods destroyed in '60s riots, You'll see these amazing homes that have since been forgotten. Also, The old train station and several beautiful churches.

I never really get a chance to explore Detroit because we live fairly far away from it. Not to mention that I think it is terribly unsafe. (LOL, Bias)

The North American International Auto Show is fun, Though.

South Florida:
1. Stay away from Miami. No seriously. It's a big, ugly, dirty city with lots of traffic. And if you don't know Spanish, you're going to be a bit lost. South Beach is a bit different and can be very nice during the day for shopping as well as a hot spot for night clubs. That's all I can recommend there.

2. The Everglades. I go there all the time, and I never grow sick of it. Believe it or not, there are some alligators in the canals and swimming pools of Urban areas that encroach on the land (Weston), but the birds are worth going just as much as the alligators. They're gorgeous.

3. Stranahan House in Fort Lauderdale. It's a great lesson in how living in Florida used to be, plus it's rumored to be haunted. biggrin

4. Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. It leads from the downtown to the beach, and has shopping, good restaurants, and occasional street festivals. It's also a beautiful walk.

5. Jaxson's in Dania Beach. Best. Ice Cream. EVER. They serve huge goblets of homemade ice cream in every flavor imaginable that take four people to eat. And they make their own rootbeer.

Well California is very big and diverse, so I'll just talk about the Bay Area (mainly San Francisco).

    - Visit Pier 39 to see our wild sea lions! Seriously, those guys are awesome. As well as the amazing aquarium.

    - Take a look at the Golden Gate bridge, of course.

    - Go to Haight & Ashbury St.

    - Ride on everything! The ferries, the BART train system, the trollies, etc.

    - Visit Golden Gate Park.

-Visit Japantown and the Japanese tea gardens.

It was hard to limit myself. There are a lot of things to do in San Francisco alone! I didn't even include my city, Oakland.

Reading this thread made me think hard about what is there to visit in Montreal eheh razz well this is what i would recommand:

1: Montreal Biodôme, wich is, for those who dont know, an inside museum that recreates the different ecosytems that we can find on earth such as: Tropical forest, laurentian forest, the arctic and antarctic.

2: The Botanical Garden of Montreal, especially the japanese light garden or the butterfly garden with thousand of real butterfly flying everywhere as you admire very nice exotic flowers.

3: The *Old Montreal* (vieux Montreal), alot of street animation and special event during the years.

4: During summer, the Montreal Jazz festival and the Just for Laughs festival are both really great.

5: And before you leave you need to stop by Schwartz’s Deli wich server the best smoked meat sandwich since 1928!
