Below is a list of common/featured places within Telgar Weyr. Feel free to use them as the setting for your scenes!
__________Weyr Bowl
_______________oval-shaped bowl with towering cliff walls; various trees have sprung
_______________up from the rocky soil; weyr openings pit the inner walls of the bowl
__________Living Cavern
_______________spacious cavern, big enough to fit several dragons; tables with benches
_______________are placed throughout for weyrfolk to sit; serving tables are
_______________constantly replenished with food, drinks, and utensils throughout the day;
_______________hearths line the back wall, and a set of doors lead into the kitchens
__________Kitchens
_______________working area for the cooks, behind the living caverns
__________Resident Dormitory
_______________great connection of caverns with a commons area; tunnels lead off to
_______________smaller caverns filled with cots for residents; commons area has many
_______________chairs, games, and simple commodities like blankets, pillows, and toys
__________Baths
_______________large cavern with five pools; usually this room is filled with steam from
_______________the heat; there are small cubicles to put possessions, benches to sit on, and curtained
_______________areas for the modest; off of this cavern are the latrines
__________Nursery
_______________two large caverns side by side; one holds cots and cribs, while the other
_______________is a play and eating area; it is painted in primary colors, though many
_______________multi-colored handprints scatter the walls; this is always a noisy area
__________Ground-Level Lounge
_______________fashioned from an old ground-level weyr, the lounge has been
_______________widened and expanded, and filled with plenty of chairs, couches, and tables;
_______________the color palette is autumnal colors right now – reds, oranges, golds, and browns;
_______________there’s a table off to one wall, set with snacks and drinks
__________Underground Bar
_______________one of the farthest caverns from the surface in the network of the Weyr
_______________is the bar; it is dark and dank inside, though the bar is impeccably maintained
_______________by the bartenders; booths line the walls and other wooden tables are placed
_______________throughout with chairs; one can find poker games, darts, and various
_______________kinds of dark, shady dealings in here; the bartenders are Maude and
_______________Sunny, two seasoned sailors that retired to Telgar
__________Stores
_______________system of caverns that holds are the Weyr’s goods; food, clothes, etc, etc;
_______________one can find anything they need here
__________Infirmary
_______________split into two areas, one infirmary is for humans and one is for
_______________dragonkind; shelves line the walls, filled with jars of medicines, herbs, and
_______________ointments; cots fill the human infirmary, curtained off for privacy; there’s
_______________always an aide or healer to be had here
__________Gardens
_______________the gardens are a beautiful place to relax; tiers of flowers bloom around in
_______________a colorful assortment; there’s fruit-bearing trees and flowering trees too; a
_______________man-made river winds from one side of the garden to the other, eventually
_______________trickling off into the lake
__________Lake
_______________crystal-clear waters are inviting; dragons bathe here, while on the other side, herdbeasts
_______________in the pens can drink their share of the sweet water; plants grow around the edge
_______________of the water and boulders on the smooth shore offer spots to sunbathe
__________Feeding Pens
_______________kept to one side of the bowl, the feeding pens are lush with grass to keep
_______________the beasts full; a fence runs the length of it, ending on one side at the lake;
_______________dragons are given free range in the pens
__________Galleries
_______________though no one but the clutch sires, dames, and the leadership are allowed
_______________on the sands, the galleries are open season to everyone; they are tiered
_______________stands with stones benches; boxes are roped off during hatchings for important figures
__________Stables
_______________set against the Weyr bowl wall, the tables feature many stalls for runners and
_______________a hayloft above with an accompanying latter; hay bales litter the
_______________area, along with pitchfork and mucking pails
__________Pasture
_______________green pasture is available for the runners; stablehands generally walk them here
__________Weyrling Barracks
_______________the barracks are ground-level and a series of caverns filled with cots, plus
_______________corresponding couches; tubs of meat, oil, and a large pool of water sit in the
_______________center of each; just outside the doors is a barren field available for practice
__________Records Room
_______________it smells old and musty in here, probably from the records and books collected
_______________in here over the years; there’s a basic section for all residents to use, and a
_______________restricted section that only leadership, scribes, and harpers have access to
__________Work Rooms
_______________a collection of caverns strictly for the use of crafters and ex-crafters; tables,
_______________tools, and chairs, can be found in each
__________Guest Weyr
_______________the guest weyr is for use by any and all greenriders during flights; since they
_______________can’t fly up to their weyrs, they should find their way to this ground-level weyr
__________Quarantine
_______________a series of roped-off apartments that house the sick people of Telgar;
_______________several people may be grouped to a room, and the only healthy people allowed
_______________to visit are Healers. Sick dragons are to stay on ground-level weyrs.
