For the most part I don't really mind having Asperger's; the social problems are annoying, yes, but they're not horrid, and nothing else about is really good or bad.
However, I have severe sensory integration dysfunction, and it's horrible. I absolutely hate going into sensory overload every single time some jerk whistles, or when several people are talking at once. Sensory overload is really, really horrible; I've been in severe pain and have had panic attacks, but this is worse than either. I hate that my family exploits it; whistling when I don't do what they want me to and other evil evil things. Would they flash lights at an epileptic as punishment? The situations are equivalent.
Does anyone else here have sensory issues?

Yes indeed, though mine are far less severe and more of on-and-off issues. There are days when I can't stand the feel of paper or even the thought of a rough surface or I won't stop shivering. Popsicle sticks are a nightmare to me. Even if I take the ice cream off of the stick, I still can't eat it because I know it was on the stick before.
Light and sound at night are my biggest problems but only at night when I'm trying to sleep. If I get even the tiniest bit of outside light in my room, even if I actually can't see it when I'm laying down but know it's there, I get really upset and won't sleep until every light it out, except for my alarm clock. With sound, I have supersonic ears at night, and if I can hear it, I won't stand it. My parents are driven crazy by my obsession with having to turn everything in the house off and shoo everyone into their own rooms or places that I won't be bothered by them before sleeping. I hear things that normal people can't hear, and have no tolerance for high-pitched noises. They'll drive me insane after a few seconds.

I am horribly sensitive to noise volume, particularly bass notes, and backbeats. Golden rule is: if Silver's in the vicinity, turn that racket down.

I have to distract myself so I don't freak out. Thats why I took up knitting. No one thinks its weird to knit nowadays and I still have a repetitive task to focus on instead of lets say, some ones smoke, or a loud/large group of people, or a lawnmower.

Eccentric Iconoclast I hate that my family exploits it; whistling when I don't do what they want me to and other evil evil things. Would they flash lights at an epileptic as punishment? The situations are equivalent. That is truly awful and disgusting! evil I have sensory overloads, too, usually from noise. To be specific, if there are too many sounds going on at once, I have a panic attack. If someone is with me at the current moment, though, it becomes much more bearable.

Debonair Silver Dragonair I am horribly sensitive to noise volume, particularly bass notes, and backbeats. Golden rule is: if Silver's in the vicinity, turn that racket down. I am very much the same. I also have trouble in areas where there is a lot of noise coming from all around me. I used to work in retail and it was absolutely horrible for me up at the cash registers during busy times. Most of the time I couldn't tell if the beeps were coming from my own scanner scanning items or the one a few rows over (or the one beside that, and so on). Very difficult to speak to customers with all that going on, as well.

I don't have problems with noises but light and textures bug me alot. It's not as bad as Innosomnia has it but the only light I can stand in my room at night it the tiny clock on my vcr and I have to sleep in the room farthest from everyone else because I can always hear them.
There's this weird thing with fabrics i've had since I was little, whenever I go shopping I have to feel a peice of clothing before I even think about trying it on. A lot of 'soft' fabrics feel coarse to me and I can't stand it.
