Allihandra stared down the plains. Sun glistening into her eyes, she squinted to be able to get the full view of what was going on. The heat mirages were just a symbol of the heat that could be the plains harsh weather. Her eyes however were not there to stare at imaginary movement. She was out for real movement. Dinner would be nice, but other lions wouldn't hurt either. Their pride struggled, containing so many young ones. They hadn't even had a litter yet, with how young they were.

She had joined the pride and taken over temporarily for Sparra. She didn't blame the lioness, but having to take care of so many young ones, it was just too difficult to deal with that and providing food and safety. Since the cubs didn't know her, it was obvious what her role would be. Sparra would take over eventually again perhaps. Or maybe someone else would. Allihandra didn't care either way, her main focus was on survival.

So this is where she was in her life. padding through the plains looking for food. She'd save the watering hole for last. For now, she padded on the dusty ground quietly, hoping to come upon something.

((this is recruitment for the Ekala pride. Sparra's owner hasn't come to me like asked in the thread, so temporarily Allihandra will be in charge. Any other pride members please feel free to join in. This thread counts toward halloween contest RP))

Patch ran across the plains. The thick air flew through her fur. She closed her eyes and laughed as she ran. It was a beautiful day. Patch's fur was still thin and cub-like so the heat didn't bug her as much as it might an adult. She was so carefree and cheerful today and she just wanted to spread her joy to everyone she met.
Ever since she could remember Patch was pretty much alown. She met a few lions along the way and made friends but as for family, she didn't even know the meaning of the word yet. For a little lion she felt quite down to earth. Dispite Patch's ingnorance to think that she was safe on her own, she still felt the need to meet a pride and stay with them. Across the plains Patch could see another lion. Without hesitation she ran up to her to see what she was up too. The grass around Patch was tall, making it hard to see the other lion eye to eye from up close.

Allihandra smelled and heard the cub even before it's head poked out of the grass. Shaking her head in disgust, she stared down at the cub for a moment, taking in what she was seeing. Her markings were good for camouflage, but she certainly didn't take advantage of it. Then again, the dry colours of the flatlands weren't the best for greens to begin with, but there were places she'd do fine at. That watering hole being one of them.

" What are you so pleased about? " She asked down at the cub. She didn't want to scare her away, she had no business being out here alone, but she needed to know the severity of living. "Any predator within three miles already knows exactly where you are."

Allihandra sat back on her haunches and shook a fly off her head. As with most cats, she attempted to act as if the world didn't matter at that moment.

Patch smiled with her little cub teeth. "I'm just happy it's such a beautiful day today," she sang joyfully. As the lioness brushed away the fly Patch watched the fly buzz about their heads. She was still a attention deficit little cub, unaware that she was perhaps being rude. Patch sprung back and forth, attempting to pounce on the fly. The little pest (The fly not the cub.) flew off out of sight and Patch once again drew her attention toward the lion who stood befor her. She giggled a bit, unable to wipe the excitement off of her face. "I'm really that vizzzable?" she tried her best to pronounce.
In the back of Patch's mind she was no longer concerned with her inablity to blend in like a true hunting lion. She was more curious about the lioness she was talking to. Questions like: "Is she a loner", "Are there other lions here too?", and "Could she be part of a pride?" raced thru Patch's mind. Her new need to feel like part of a family was growing. She didn't understand why she didn't want to be alown anymore but since she was a cub she didn't give it a second thought. She new she was going to follow her gut on in this situation and try to find out more about prides.

Pondering for a moment, Allihandra decided to ignore the cubs question. After all, she had already answered it. She wish she remembered what it was like being an innocent cubbin, but it just didn't feel like her anymore. She couldn't imagine frolicking for fun. Her idea of a good time was the thrill of the chase, wind running through her hair, and prey within a paws reach for the taking.

" What's your name little one. Surely you arn't out here completely alone. Must have family somewhere. " She knew it might be a touchy subject, but then, she never was one to candy coat anything. Which was perhaps why the other young ones of the pride were so unable to really get along with her.

"I'm Patch," Patch announced confidently. She placed her paw above her eyes to block out the enormous summer sun that lay right above the lioness's head. "Family?" Patch thought hard to her furthest memories. All she could think of where silly things like running away from rain and chasing butterflies. "To tell the truth I've always been alone." Now Patch new that a sentence like that could be taken the wrong way. Though she never had a family as far as she could remember, she didn't know what she was missing, so she never really was sad about her situation. So, Patch wasn't sad but in her heart she still did have a longing to see what it was like and to have someone to support her and support them back.

There was a voice in Patch's mind blocking her heart's longing for a family. She was worried that if she did find a family that maybe they wouldn't like her. She was a bit wild and hard to get used to at first. Patch quickly shook all the thoughts about families out of her head and went onto another subject. "So, what's your name and watcha up too?" she asked.

Alli nodded her head as Patch introduced themselves. " I'm Allihandra, and what i'm up to is hunting, but mostly searching for more pride members. Our pride is very young." Getting up, Allihandra began to circle Patch. Good form, not too weak looking, there was at least potential there.

" You can join me if you'd like. We're more likely to encounter other lions than we are food at this point." Alli smirked a little, but not enough for anyone to see.

Majani slowly walked over the strechted plains. It was a hot day and his manes only made it hotter for him. He counted the days in his mind. It was now almost three weeks ago since he left his pride. He grew up there but upon reaching adulthood he was kicked out by the pride leader. So there he was now, wandering on his own around the huge plains.

Majani sighed and lay down underneath a small tree, it was cooler in the shadows. His tummy rumbled. He hadn't had a good meal in days. Sometimes he caught a small animal but most of the time he just lived of kills made by other predators. Hunting on your own was hard and tiring. He hoped he would find a pride to join soon.

The watering grounds were nearby and there were always thirsty animals. He could go there and look for an easy kill. It seemed like a decent plan to him. Majani stood up and strechted his paws. He then gave a small yawn and trotted towards the watering hole.
When he was halfway he spotted a lioness standing in the long grasses. It seemed she was interacting with something or someone but he couldn't see.

Patch's eyes widened with overjoyed curiosity. "Really I could?" she said leaping up onto her feet. "I'd be ever so grateful. Infact, I would do whatever could to prove my worth. I may just be a little silly cub now but I can be very helpful and when I grow I'll be a big help," she said, trying to prove to Allihandra that her kindness will not be forgotten.
Behind them the plains still sounded empty of anything more then a few bugs and small birds. But Patch's ears weren't keen enough yet to hear the lion nearby. If she had turned to look she would have seen him but unfortunately she was too caught up in the moment. She was accepted, and all her life seemed to come together before her eyes. In Patch's mind she was now thinking about the future. The little cub suddenly snapped out of it, being overwhelmed by too many thoughts strained her brain. She turned behind her to see if she could help Allihandra find food. Instead she saw the lion, Majani. "Look over there!" she proclaimed, realizing that Allihandra probably already saw him.

Having dealt with constant young ones, Allihandra only half smiled at the excitement and exuberance that the youngling expressed. She'd seen it all too many times before after all.

Knowing that there had been sound in the direction that Patch jumped, and smelling, she knew it was another lion. Turning to look, she waited, as it appeared the lion was moving toward them.

Out of curiosity Majani walked towards the lioness. He had made himself as big and strong-looking as he could in case the lioness was planning on attacking him. He'd had that experience before and he wasn't keen on letting it happen again.
Coming closer he smelled another lion, a small one. If this lioness had cubs of her own he was to be careful.

He stopped at a slight distance before the lioness. From there he could see the other lion. It was indeed a small green cub. The lioness had whole other colors than the cub so it couldn't be hers. Majani lowered his guard and focused on the lioness. "Seeing a lone lioness on the plains is quite unusual... what is your business here if I may ask?"

Sizing up the Lion as it approached, Allihandra settled down a bit. He looked about as starved as the rest of her pride. If he did want to fight, he'd have not just walked up and asked questions. At least, that had been her experience thus far. Only once did one of her fights start with conversation, and that wound still stung, even with no physical scar.

" Doing the same as you i'd suspect. I was out searching for food for my Pride, as well as possible members. I came upon this little one here running around without a care in the world...has probably scared away anything in the area for a little ways around us. " She shook her head a bit, ears flapping. That darned fly was not leaving!

" Likewise, what's a loan lion doing out here. Havn't you responsibilities somewhere?" She tried to ask it as gently as possible. Many lions could be touchy, and she didn't want to set off any fuses in this one. After all, an adult male would do wonders for the pride.

Patch did her best to show the two lions respect by keeping quiet wile they spoke to one another. Though she did eavesdrop, as anyone would do when so close to those speaking. She heard Allihandra say that it might have been her who scared off any food. Patch's ears lowered to the ground. As she lowered her head she remembered the burrow she was hiding in with Kahawa only moments before meeting Allihandra. "I'll be right back. I forgot why I was here. I was supposed to be checking to see if it was safe outside," she said in a slight panic. She ran off across the plains to tell her friend Kahawa that it's safe outside and she found other lions.

(I did my best to bring our other RP into this one so Kahawa could be in the pride if you want hannie)

Majani put on a irritated face. The lioness just asked him the question he didn't want to hear. But he couldn't accuse her for it. "Well at the moment I haven't many responsibilities, except for getting my stomach filled. But if that little cub has scared the food away I guess that will still take some time." He said.

He then gave a small sigh and tried to think up an answer for the lioness' question. "To put it simply, I've been kicked out of my pride a few weeks ago. Reaching adulthood as a male isn't really fun I presume. But next to that.... you said you were searching for pride members?" Looking curiosly at the lioness.
