A quick note before I begin: This role play became very popular in another guild I'm in (it was active for over two years and made it past 500 pages. >w< ), so I figured I'd try it out here. I'm hoping it'll be as fun. <3There are many stories about the forest you are about to enter. They say there are strange creatures there that drink the blood of their victims. Unusual howling comes from the darkness of the forest when the moon is full. Travelers disappear and most who enter are never found or seen again... You must be asking yourself why you want to go into a forest like this. There are many reasons. Stories also tell of great riches that fill the forest. Caves made of pure gold or filled with diamonds. Treasures hidden by those who have long since died. If you believe you are strong enough to enter such a place, then the forest is open to you, but beware, for darkness lurks every where... Hello and welcome to my Role Play. Here are the rules: 1. Fighting, romance and drama are encouraged, but remember, PG-13. 2. Post a profile. I would prefer it if the profile was of an original character with an original picture and not something from a book or movie or anything. 3. You're not required to post more than one or two paragraphs per post (I can't, so I don't expect anyone else to unless they want to xP ). Just try to limit one-liners. 4. No ** for actions and use third person. 5. Please, for whatever sanity I have left, capitalize your I's!!! 6. Try not to stretch the page. If your picture does, turn it into a link please. 7. You can start as soon as you post a profile, but if I ask you to fix something on it, please do it. 8. Nothing futuristic or modern. It's based in a time with out guns, cars and all that. 9. Just because it's another forest role play, doesn't mean you can't be somewhat serious (I hate when some one makes their character drop from a tree and say "Hi, lets be friends!" D; ). I'll add more rules if I think I need to. There's not really a plot to follow. Basically just do your own thing and see where it takes you. ~Profile~ Name/Nickname: Age: Gender: Race: Weapons/powers: (don't go overboard.) Appearance/description: (a picture is okay too) Personality: History: Other: (optional)
You may add to your profile, these are just some of the things I'd like to know. You can make as many characters as you want, just as long as you can handle however many you decide to use. The Forest: The forest is thick with plants and trees. The older trees are overgrown, tall and wide, but the newer trees are good for climbing. There are caves everywhere, although most are well hidden and hard to find. There are no paths or roads and it is easy to get lost. The forest goes on for miles in every direction, but if one manages to free them self from the labyrinth of trees, they would find the boarder of the forest lined with villages, mostly inhabited by humans or anything that could pass for human. Most of the rumors of gold and riches in the forest were started by it's own inhabitants to draw people in, but that's not the only reason people end up there. The place is home to demons, vampires, wolves, werewolves, bandits, slavers, and other people and creatures who are lost, or out-casted by the rest of the world. Not all the forest's inhabitants are bad though. Rumors also tell an Elven city, hidden somewhere deep in the forest, possibly built underground. My profile/s: Name: Ally Lyander Age: 18 Gender: Female Race: Fire Elemental Weapons/powers: The ability to create and manipulate fire and heat. She has trouble manipulating fire she didn't conjure, and her power is tied to her emotions. She also carries three daggers with her. Appearance: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g285/Alybrylla/Ally-1.jpg Ally is small and somewhat thin (although after watching her eat, people often wonder how it's possible). Her eyes are a rusty color, but will sometimes look red when she's using her magic. She usually only has one dress with her since she'd rather spend her money on food than clothes. She also has a heavy black cloak for when it's cold, but it does little good since it's old and torn in various places. She carries a brown leather backpack with her that contains a blanket, whatever food she has with her, and two of the daggers that aren't in her pocket with the third. Personality: Ally is somewhat shy, being afraid of people for several different reasons. She's usually timid and quiet and doesn't talk about herself. It takes her a while to fully trust someone, but she tries to see the good in everyone, despite everything she's been through. She tends to get into trouble with out meaning to because she's very curious and has trouble minding her own business at times. She likes to eat, something she doesn't always get the chance to do when she's traveling. When she's gone too long with out eating she's easy to make angry. History: Ally grew up in a small village away from the forest. She was normal as a child, but was regarded as odd by the other children because she was so shy. She was the child of a well known bank robber and an innkeeper but she never met her father and her mother died when Ally was only a baby. She was raised by a friend of her mother's, along with the woman's own four children. It wasn't until she was ten that she found out she was a Elemental, and so did the rest of the village when she burned down a shop in the market. She was chased from the village and made to fend for herself as she looked for a new home. After a while of traveling, she learned news about her father and decided she would try to find him. The only thing she knew about him was his name, and that he was the reason she was an Elemental. She spent six years following him, only able to find him by the trail of wanted posters he left behind him. She almost caught up to him once, but lost his trail and he seemingly disappeared. So she stayed in the village for a year, always hoping she would find him there. One day she was returning to the inn from the market when she saw that the inn was on fire. Thinking she could help, she tried to to stop the fire, but it only grew stronger and went out of her control. she ended up destroying the village and killed several people. The villagers who saw her attempt to help, misunderstood what she was trying to do, and blamed the whole tragedy on her. After fleeing from the village and hiding out in another neighboring village, she found out she was wanted for murder and destroying the village. There was a large reward for her arrest, enough gold to attract the attention of a few bounty hunters.

Name: Kell Age: 52 Gender: male Race: lupine were-hunter (wolf shapechanger) Weapons/powers: weapons: mostly hand-to-hand, does have two long knives (like the assassin in Hellboy) powers: longer-lived then most other species, his race reaches into the eight or nine-hundreds. because of this they reach puberty at a later age as well. His approximate human age is 25. he is a lupine were-hunter (as compared to lion, panther, tiger, leopard, bear, hawk, and other were-hunters) which means he can switch between his human form and his wolf form. He has slight telepathic and telekinetic abilities but he rarely uses his 'pathic abilities, and usually only uses his kinetic abilities to flash his stuff from his den to himself. Appearance:: Kell is approximately six feet tall when he is in human form. His hair is long and shaggy and covers the entire range of brown as well as some blond and black. he has a white streak running from his right temple. the coloring of his hair continues also into his somewhat prolific chest hair. His skin tone is darker and he is well muscled from the life of a young wolf. When he's dressed at all, he usually wears only a pair of breeches and a vest. he carries a pack that has all the essentials he needs when he is human. When in wolf form, Kell's colloring is similar to that of his hair when in human form. his fur covers the spectrum of brown over most of his body, though his chest is black and he has a streak of white running down his spine. all members of his pack have the distinctive white stripe when in wolf form, though only a few have it in human form. his eyes, in either form, are a deep burnished gold, almost hypnotic. Personality: His race is much faster and stronger then the humans. growing up lupine he is very awkward around others and can sometimes catch his foot in his rather large mouth. generally the tough silent type Kell does have a hidden sense of humor that shows occasionally. History: Kell grew up on the edge of the forest, just deep enough to comfort his wolf half, and on the outskirts enough to tempt his human half. He grew up with the rest of his pack but when he reached full adulthood his father, the alfa, was replaced by a distant uncle and he and his two brothers were kicked out of the pack. seperated in the confusion following the attack, Kell searches for his brothers in the hopes of finding a new pack. a wolf without family is no wolf at all. although... he does have a human half... other: when he travels in wolf form he stores his human items in his den using his slight telekinetic abilities to flash the items between his den and himself. he might be able to flash himself or another person but he's never tried to before and it would be exceedingly dangerous and probably only appear in a truly desperate time.

Kell sniffed the air as old scents tickled his nose coming from his right. Hunkering down on his haunches he peered through the branches and brambles to find the source of the interesting scents. Nothing came immediately into view so he slowly inched forward until he could see a disturbance in the treeline. he scented the air again, trying to determine if anything living was in the area of disturbance but the combination of scents made it impossible to tell. the closer and closer he got to the distubance, the more familiar it seemed. Old memories rose to the surface of his mind. memories shrouded in the pain of his disgrace. he shook his shaggy coat to clear his mind of the pain. A road. That's what the disturbance was called. it was a road through the forest headed for the capital city. he stalked low in the grass until he could find a place where he could watch the road without being easily seen. On the top of a large boulder he found a sun-warmed place to lay out his tired bones as he watched the road. Spring was just beginning and Kell couldn't wait. He'd had a lean winter in the forest this year. His body had been melted down until he was nothing but muscle and bone. his coat, which should have been shiny, still retained a bit of its dusty feel. having surrendered most of his human half during the winter, Kell couldn't really imagine what being clean felt like, nor why he would want to be clean. resting his head on his paws he stared out over the road and let his mind wander to better places in his life.

*dances* Someone finally joined. By the way, I changed the first post a bit, just 'cause I got bored. xD Anyways...
Ally moved slowly as she walked through the trees, barely paying attention to her surroundings. She picked her path at random, no longer caring where she went. Her only thought was to keep moving, clinging to the hope that she might find a way out of the forest. She was tired, and it was obvious, but fear kept her from sleeping unless she could find a safe place to hide, or until the fatigue forced her to rest for a while. Her body ached and screamed for her to stop, but she ignored it, which she knew was a mistake, but she didn't care. She continued on for what felt like hours, until her body couldn't take it anymore. She let out a soft squeak as she fell to her knees. With a sigh she looked around her, wondering if it was safe to rest where she was for a bit, even though she knew should couldn't really move at the moment.

Kell whuffled in his sleep as he lay in the sun. his dreams were full of memories of playing with his brothers. He laughed and rough housed with them. glad to have them back. He jumped up and hugged them and just as his happiness was greatest, a great howl rose up inside his dream and the scene changed from happiness to great fear. flashes of his time when he was first alone in the forest followed by indistinct feelings of despair and pain.
Kell started awake and lay on the rock, trying to regain his bearings. he sat up and looked around at the road and trees again as his heartbeat started to slow. rising to his feet he shook himself. Realizing just how musty and dirty his coat was he shook again, harder this time. Stomping each foot. As his mind started to clear thoughts and cares from his human half started to merge with his wolf half. it would take awhile, it always did, but with spring came the return of inner balance to Kell as his human and wolf halves reached harmony again after the brutal winter months.
Kell snapped at the air and decided that food and a bath seemed like a good idea. not necessarily in that order. just whichever one happened to come first. He raised his head and scented for water. Not to far off he remembered a large stream that he had fished in a few seasons ago. Stretching he whuffed at the road which had decided to remain uninteresting, and hopped down off his boulder and headed for the stream, senses alert for anything that might like to become his dinner.

As she rested, Ally decided it wouldn't hurt to start a small fire. She grabbed only the branches and twigs within reach since she still couldn't move very far, but she didn't need much anyways. It took her a few minutes more than it normally would to get the fire going. She couldn't even make a spark with out concentrating hard on it. After it was finally burning she pulled her tattered blanket from her bag and curled up under it. Sleep came quickly, but it was far from peaceful. A familiar nightmare began to play almost instantly, and she was unable to change it or stop it. She cried in her dream and out loud as she slept, too tired to simply wake up and make it end.

((goodness gracious! i don't usually post such long posts. usually just a few liners >.<))
Kell stalked a scrawny rabbit that was braving to leave it's burrow. an old male it probably didn't have any young so his human half wouldn't feel bad about killing it. slowly and carefully placing his large paws Kell got within dinner distance and pounced! he chased the rabbit for several feet before it obligingly jumped into his jaws. Ah what a satisfying crunch. Ew! bad thought bad thought! He argued with himself. he had just settled down to the leaf-strewn floor when the smell of burning wood reached his sensitive nose. every muscle in his body froze as he considered his options. the smell is to small to be a full-blown forest fire, but any fire can become a forest fire. it could be a human in the woods. His hackles rose. or it could be something else. a small growl escaped his lips as he debated what to do about his dinner. eat it now, check out the fire later. he decided as his stomach ached. He tore into his rabbit, savoring each delicious warm bite.
when he was done with the rabbit he raised his nose to the wind and scented for the fire again. heading in its direction, Kell kept his senses open to any signs of a forest fire. as the scent of the fire grew stronger, he started to pick up sounds. he lowered himself into a stalking crawl until he hid himself behind a large bramble bush near the source of the fire. Peering around the bush he was startled by what he saw. A young girl curled up in a tattered blanket beside a dying fire. he looked closer. she didn't look very good. skinny and rather unhealthy looking, she seemed to be in the middle of a very bad dream. Kell's wolf side argued for him to leave the girl alone. it was the nature of the forest that only the strong survive. His human half couldn't accept that. she's a young girl in need of help it argued if she were pack you wouldn't even hesitate to help her his wolf half growled in response but she's not pack. His human half made it's last argument she could be. with that last thought, his halves once again reached harmony and Kell went in search of something he could kill and bring back to the girl. she probaly hadn't eaten in a long while.
not to far away he found a feral pig with her spring birthing of piglets on the edge of a clearing. he watched until one grew to brave and wandered away from his mother's protection. it was an easy snatch and grab kill. He quickly headed back for the girl. when he reached the edge of her camp he quietly stalked forward, intending to drop the piglet by the fire and leave without ever being noticed. that was his intention anyway.

As Ally's dream grew worse she rolled over in her sleep and smacked her hand on a rock she hadn't known was there. It didn't hurt as much as it startled her, and she sat up quickly, breathing heavily. The memory of the dream faded as she looked around and remembered where she was, not knowing if she should be disappointed or happy about being in the forest. She sighed sadly as she continued to scan the area but stopped when she noticed the wolf. She gasped and reached for her pocket to pull out a dagger, but didn't move otherwise.

Kell froze as the girl woke up. not wanting to scare her he very slowly and carefully dropped the piglet by the fire and backed away. once he was out of range he quickly turned and ran off into the trees. poor cub...

Ally watched the wolf leave, confused about what just happened. She stared down at the dead piglet, still trying to figure out what it was. After a couple of minutes she finally remembered her dagger and slipped it back into her pocket, wondering where the wolf went.
