This is where you post your songs which you have translated into Elvish.

In all actuality, this is really an archive of what I've done. It'll be small at first (cause I'll have to find all the song's I've translated in the past) but it should grow.

Keep in mind that my translations are not 100% accurate. I have issues with Sindarin sentence structure and conjugations. However, it is the best attempt I can do.

Usually you will see my translations in three parts...

Part 1: Is the original song text.
Part 2: Is the Sindarin translation text.
Part 3: Is the English translation of the Sindarin text (since it must be modified given the limited vocabulary).

Sometimes you may see a forth part to come before Part 1, a Part 0, if you will. This is usually the original text of the song (in it's original language) and you will only see it if the song was in something other than English to begin with. Then, Part 1 will become the English translation of the song and so on and so forth.

Below is a reference guide for the songs in this thread.
The first number is the page number the post is on. The second number is the post number on that page that the song is in.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

All translations (if posted by me) were done by me. I do not own copyrights to any of the translated songs. They are by their respective authors (who will be named within the post). All translations come from a combined source of "Dragon Flame" Sindarin Translator, Ruth S. Noel's "The Languages of Tolkien's Middle-earth", David Salo's "Gateway to Sindarin", and "The Lord of the Rings" books and films.

Let us pause in life's pleasures and count its many tears
While we all sup sorrow with the poor
There's a song that will linger forever in our ears
Oh, hard times come again no more

'Tis a song, a sigh of the weary
Hard times, hard times come again no more
Many days you have lingered around my cabin door
Oh, hard times come again no more

While we seek mirth and beauty
And music light and gay
There are frail ones fainting at the door
Though their voices are silent
Their pleading looks will say
Oh, hard times come again no more

'Tis a song, a sigh of the weary
Hard times... hard times come again no more
Many days you have lingered around my cabin door
Oh, hard times come again no more

'Tis a sigh that is wafted across the troubled wave
'Tis a wail that is heard upon the shore
'Tis a dirge that is murmured around the lowly grave
Oh, hard times come again no more

'Tis a song, a sigh of the weary
Hard times, hard times come again no more
Many days you have lingered around my cabin door
Oh, hard times come again no more
Oh, hard times come again no more

Make two pause in the good of life and count the abundant tear
When two all eat laments with the poor
There (is) a lay (that) will stay forever in our ears
Ai, hard times come again no longer

It (is) a lay a breath of the forsaken
Hard times, hard times come again no longer
Many days you have stayed around my house door
Ai, hard times come again no more

When two look at joy and beautiful
And tunes light and gay
There (are) sickly ones faintness at the door
The sad looks will say
Ai, hard times come again no more

It (is) a lay a breath of the forsaken
Hard times, hard times come again no longer
Many days you have stayed around my house door
Ai, hard times come again no more

It (is) a lay (that is) floated across the troubled water
It (is) a cry (that is) listened upon the shore
It (is) a lament (that is) whispered around the low lying grave
Ai, hard times come again no more

It (is) a lay a breath of the forsaken
Hard times, hard times come again no longer
Many days you have stayed around my house door
Ai, hard times come again no more
Ai, hard times come again no more
