Well, I just got over being sick for the second time in two weeks, and the third time in five months. Gah. I know they are all related as well, but one of the doctors at my clinic (I have a family doctor, sort of, but you kinda just get whoever's around at the time) refused to listen to me. Like I don't know what's going on in my own body.

This was a bit worse than a cold.

***Medical history follows, ignore if you don't care or don't like***

At the end of May this year, right after Anime North (read: no sleep, no food, lots of running around, and high stress) I got really really sick.
Symptoms:
- very high fever. Did hit 104F/40C at one point.
- Vomiting
- Uncontrollable shaking (which went away immediately after throwing up)
- Fatigue
- Night sweats

Went to the ER, waited for 6 hours. Doctor told me that it was a UTI that got into my kidneys, basically. My understanding: I pretty much killed my immune system at con and then the infection decided to take a walk.

So, the meds fixed that right up. But two weeks ago I was sick again.
Symptoms:
- High fever. In the 103F/39.4C neighbourhood
- Vomiting
- Fatigue
- Night sweats

None of the shaking from before, but pretty much everything else. As far as I can tell, this did not follow any kind of stress either. I got over it on my own.

Just now, sick again. This time following the conference my husband was at that I attended that was high stress for me.
Symptoms:
- High fever. 103F/39.4C again
- Fatigue
- Night sweats

No vomiting or shaking, but because of the previous illness, I agreed that it was doctor time.

Now at this point I should mention that for years I've had what seems to be a constant but extremely mild UTI. I always test positive, even with no symptoms, or my symptoms are so mild that they barely even register.

Doctor wants a urine sample to test, and of course it comes back positive, so I get standard UTI meds, when I'm pretty sure there is something much bigger going on here.

***End medical history***

Definitely something much bigger going on. Ask them to do every test in the book on you, if you have to, just to try to narrow things down.

Or try to talk right to your family physician-type guy and maybe you can pick up something from your medical history?

I was at my family physician though. Before now I haven't had one in... 8 years I guess. The way the office works is that everyone is technically assigned a doctor, but you get whoever happens to be around. I haven't even met the guy I'm assigned to.

My thoughts at this point are if I'm showing any symptoms after I finish the meds, I'm going back in for more tests.

You could always try to talk to the one from 8 years ago? Haha. I dunno, I've been seeing the same doc for 21 years, I very rarely go to anyone else.

I think he's in the army now. My old family doctor has switched several times since I've been there.

Yeah, I couldn't really use the same one after moving four hours away.

*shakes fist at doctor shortage*

Well, the Supply Pool in my school board is taking applications again, so I applied again and am now waiting for the phone call that will probably never come for an interview.

In other news, my Oktoberfest gathering was a success and fun. We need to get more people out next year, but that shouldn't be a problem. I was smart this year and forced people to pay for the tickets they wanted even if they ended up not coming. Totally not getting stuck with the bill for that again.
