It was growing cool. The leaves were already in the state of changing from the lush green's to the browns, yellows, and reds that came with autumn. Azn did not mind autumn, it was a lovely season but she could not deny that soon after autumn was in their midst then the first snowfall would come as well. Winter was all right, though there was something about it that was dreadful. True, it was colder than all other seasons, the snow soaked her a little depending on how long she was out walking through it or if it was falling at the moment, light or heavy. But no, it had nothing to do with the snow or the coolness of the weather or the fact that the sun seemed less bright, there was something else entirely. In her past?

Azn shook her head, hair strands rustling about the sides of her face and in the wind. It was doubtful that her somewhat dislike of winter was due to an event from her past, if she had experienced something horrid in her younger years then wouldn't she recall such an event? But no Azn did not have any recollections of such an event. Therefore, she easily could conclude that her somewhat dislike of winter was because of some other unforseen reason. If what she felt was actual dislike, that is. Her lion's tail swished back and forth, as she continued her walk. Walking was a glorious way to collect one's thoughts as well as analyzing them or creating new ideas. It was why she was often seen walking, just walking with no real set destination.

From that, Azn sometimes would find herself in a place that was completely unfamiliar. It was hard in the beginning, when she was a young adult, but after many times of this 'finding herself in a new area' Azn could say she was used to it. It was still challenging to get herself unlost, no she never got lost she was merely unsure of where she was and how to get back to some remblance of familiarity, but it grew easier with time. In a way the places she went to seemed to blend together, even if there were so many differences among the places, it was strange how they were getting to all be familiar to her and yet not familiar at all. If that made any sense, it made no sense to her still and she had been doing this for years. Walking through the tall grass Azn took in her surroundings, it seemed as if during the spring and summer seasons this place would be booming with activity. Currently, it was quiet.

It had been several days since he had been out on his own. Almost a week, in fact. Almost an entire week of old faces resurfacing because of a mare's appearance in his life. Every old acquaintance of his just had to know everything about anything that had happened between them and it was all thanks to a certain loudmouth thief. Most of their questions had remained unanswered and this morning he had woken to find that they had left.

He sighed, a small smile creeping on to his face, thinking on it and paused taking a real moment for himself. His eyes drifted over to the trees, their leaves bearing the colors of a fire now that the air was chilling. This was perhaps his favorite season of them all for despite all his searching for an answer he was unable to tell why the leaves switched colors. It still held some mystery and for him that was a wonderful thing.

Taking a deep breath of the crisp autumn air he pressed on. He was heading no where in particular, simple looking for something to do for the day. He considered investigating the trees further but could not imagine making any progress so he continued to walk. Walking was slower which was exactly what he wanted right now so he stayed in one of his larger sizes and stayed firmly on the ground.

He wondered about this choice as the grass around him began to grow taller swallowing his foal sized self almost completely. The only things that could be seen were the top of his head and the tips of his wings.

Well that was a peculiar sight. Azn paused, her head craning to see what was over there. She couldn't very well tell what it was, that was no good. She was curious since whatever it was, was something she had never seen before. Azn could understand that it was small, as only the top of its head was seen along with.....well that was what she had meant by not knowing what it was. It seemed like the tips of something, but what?

Azn headed in that direction. True, it wasn't the way she was originally going but observing this it shouldn't take too long. Most likely it was some unique forest critter, out on a stroll. A rather large forest critter. She continued to walk towards it, quietly. Should it be dangerous, it'd be best if she went unheard.

He took a step and blinked. His gaze drifted down to where his hoof was to see if perhaps he had stepped on something. He had, a leaf, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. He lifted his head high in an effort to peer out above the tall grass but his efforts were in vein.

He frowned and stood still listening. When he had set his foot down it had sounded more like he had stepped down twice. His ears flicked again as he continued to her the sounds of movement in the grass. Sounds that were growing closer. He turned to stare at the wall of grass before him, on the other side there was some creature, but what?

With mild curiosity he rooted himself in place. There were many creatures in these parts and he wanted to know more about all of them. If this was one of them he certainly did not want to miss an opportunity by relocating himself.

Azn crept closer, her pale gray eyes locked on the critter. The grass rustled and Azn paused. But it was likely that even if she tried to remain as silent as possible the grass would still move with her. Azn waited, the critter must not of cared much of the rustling she had done because it remained in the same place. She continued closer and closer until she was at a point where she could crane her neck as high as it would allow, enabling her to peek down where that critter was.

She moved her head forward and looked down. She blinked. It had similar features to her, it had to be a kind of Soquili. Though what was that structure attached to this critter's back? Wings? Not like any wings she'd of thought a Soquili could have. She continued to stare.

The footsteps stopped and there was silence, save for the rustling of very close grass. He stood, waiting for whatever approached to come through to find him. Nothing came. His eyebrows furrowed unsure of what was going on. It was at that moment that he got the distinct feeling that he was being watched. His tail twitched and he checked at both his sides for the watcher before lifting his head to look skywards.

He tensed slightly finding himself staring up at another horse. A horse with an odd spike sticking out of her forehead. He blinked a few times before regaining his composure. It seemed that this was, in fact, one of those creatures he knew nothing about. This meeting looked very promising right now.

He sighed dropping back into his usual manner. "Must you stare?" He asked letting his head lower a bit so his neck was not in such an uncomfortable position. "I'm not going to attack you or anything."

He was a foal, was he not? The size of him wasn't that big and yet he seemed older than a foal would. Was that possible? For him to be a full grown male? A stallion? Azn had always assumed that stallions should be at least near the height of mares though mostly they were larger than mares were but could this male possibly be unique in that he was small? Or was he just a rather oldish colt? She could not imagine that he was but still, it could be possible. She wanted to know more, learn more.

She backed up a little at the male's words. Though he didn't seem the type to attack nor did he have the height, you could never tell. Never judge one only by one's appearance afterall, you could end up being quite surprised. "I apologize for my rudeness." She paused. Her eyes shifted back to him, it was still so strange to her. She then turned her head to look at the grass, best not to be rude again for staring too long.

"Are you a foal or a full grown horse?" It just came out. But she had to know. For certainty.

He nodded his head slightly, a way to show he accepted her apology. Truthfully she had not done anything all that rude as of yet so there was no reason why he wouldn't pardon her. When she spoke again he considered holding something against her. His eyes narrowed in annoyance and drifted off to the side. Had no one in this place seen a flutter before? The reactions he received seemed to support the theory.

"I am fully grown." He said in a sigh, sounding less then amused. It was better to correct and educate others quickly on the matter in cases like this. There was no benefit in keeping them in the dark after all.

His wings rose and fell slowly a few times to draw attention to them. He thought a moment on how to best approach the subject. Given how she had been quick to question he imagined a direct approach would be best. "I am a flutter. We can change sizes when it pleases us provided we have sufficient energy." He focused his gaze on her waiting for her to process the information. He had more to say and tried to make his expression convey this, however, he did not have the most expressive face in the world. Most everything seemed to be the same emotion on it.

It seemed as though he accepted her apology. Relieved that she had not angered him, she let out a sigh.

From his response, Azn tilted her head to the side. Was it true? She was reluctant to believe in his answer but this stallion didn't seem like he had been dishonest to her yet and so, it was likely to be true. Her pale eyes looked down at her legs and then over the rest of her body. She may just be very tall. She hadn't seen the entire world yet and therefore, it was likely that there were short Soquili out there that were fully grown.

Out of the corner of her right eye, she noticed movement. Twisting her head back towards the stallion, she eyed his wings with interest. In her surprise of his size, she had forgotten about his strange wings. Looking now at them, they reminded her of something, in a way. Butterfly wings?

"Flutter?" She whispered. Azn had never encountered this kind of Soquili till now. There were many other different kinds out there then, besides regulars, winds, and unicorns. This world was so vast, there was much to see still. That pleased Azn, though, as it would give her something more to do. To explore and learn more about the world and even possibly about other Soquili kinds as well would be enjoyable. She liked to travel.

"That would mean," She paused, "you can grow as tall as I?" Then he was able to be larger. What a unique talent. As a unicorn, Azn had the talent of healing by the use of her horn but being able to fly as well as change body height, well, these flutters were special.

"Is there anything else that is special about your kind?" She could not tell whether or not there was but it was best to inquire now when she had the chance too. Who knew when she would next meet a flutter Soquili?

He noticed her studying him and spread his wings a bit more to give her a better look. "Yes, I am a flutter." He was growing very used to other creatures' curiosity towards him. It was best just to let them look and ask questions as they felt necessary. Eventually they would stop and he could investigate them.

He shook his head at her next question. It was true he could grow to close to the size of a normal horse but he wouldn't grow as tall as her. He was rather short compared to the other races no matter what size he chose to take. "I would be an inch or two shorter then you actually." It was somewhat embarrassing to admit but it was for the best. Size was nothing to be ashamed of even if it got him laughed at from time to time.

Right on cue she asked the next ordinary question. Once it was known that he had any powers they wanted to know everything. If only things were that simple. He himself did not know all the powers that a flutter possessed as he was not truly a flutter. At least he was not a purebred one. The evidence was in his tail. "I can not answer your question. As a crossbreed I do not know the answer. A true flutter would hold the answer you seek I'm sure."

His feline like tail twisted about behind him signaling that he was somewhat annoyed. It was not because he was not a pure flutter but rather that he still did not know the answer to the question that he was often asked. In all of his travels he had not yet encountered a pure flutter. Actually he had really only met a few bird winged creatures and ordinary horses. He looked up to the mare he was speaking with his eyes settling on her horn. And now he had encountered a new type, that had no name. He would ask what she was after she had satisfied her curiosity.

The spread of his wings enabled Azn to look more closely at them. She did. They were fascinating, truly. So different from wind wings which reminded Azn of birds. His wings were indeed like that of a butterfly, now that she thought further on it.

So he couldn't grow to her size. Well that was fine, she was a rather tall mare anyway. Encounters with other mares left Azn always taller than them. It was odd, to be so tall but she accepted her height. There were perks to being tall like being able to see higher things. Though her height was also dissatisfying when she realized she was too tall to fit under certain areas, forcing her to take a longer path. It balanced out.

Curiosity was hard to ignore. Usually Azn was able to resist any curious tendencies, it was unlike her to be so curious. But, learning was something she enjoyed and to learn about a new kind, everything about a new kind, well she supposed allowing her curiosity out and about was all right. For the moment.

Would he show her his ability to grow larger if she asked? Azn debated inwardly at that thought. She wanted to see, not just hear, but she didn't want to be rude. Or greedy with the thirst for knowledge. Good things did come to those who waited.

"Oh." She paused, stunned. Azn had not noticed the tail, the tail so like her very own. At the thought of it, her tail swished about, she looked it over appealingly. "I've never encountered a crossbreed before. Your tail, is like my own. I'm assuming," Azn stopping, considering. She was pure, as far as she could remember. "that you're part unicorn."

"Mmm?" A single brow quirked ever so slightly at her statement. He hadn't taken notice of her tail before now. He had simply assumed that is was a regular hair made tail. Now that attention was called to it, however, his eyes wander through the grass to spot her tail. So it was true, her tail was like his own.

For quite sometime he had known of course that he was a crossbreed. A mix of two species a flutter providing his wings and a unicorn donating his lion tail. "I am a mix." He murmured in confirmation looking the mare over. A thought was forming in his mind having never encountered one like her before. "You are purebred I assume."

If this was the case then he assumed he was more flutter then unicorn. The horn on her head was very obvious and it was something that he clearly lacked. The tail was the only trait like hers that he had. It was not a problem for him. He did not even know exactly what it was a unicorn was supposed to be able to do. Without that knowledge there was nothing to be missed.

Still, his curiosity was winning him over. If his assumptions were correct then it would be his turn to pose a question. One concerning her abilities.

She flicked her tail, moving it forward so he could see it better. There were subtle differences between their tails, her tail ends were longer, she grew them out for a long time. They didn't grow fast. Though neither did her mane, some strands were longer than others but mostly it was nicely kept. Short. She liked it best that way. His hair was short too, but shorter than hers.

For as long as she can remember, she always thought of herself as pure. She may not be as pure as some but from what she remembered of her father, he looked like her. She had been too young when her mother passed on. But her mother had been known as a healer and unicorns healed through their horns, Azn knew this. She wished she had asked more questions when she was younger but she never wanted to bother anyone unless absolutely necessary. Though it was likely her mother was an unicorn as well.

She rarely used her horn for healing, only when she needed to do small cuts or scrapes. Her powers were not so strong but then she only ever used her horn on herself and likely it didn't work as well, perhaps because she was weaker in other parts of her body, preventing a better heal.

"I suppose I am. I have many traits similar to other unicorns. Horn, tail and cloven hooves." She bowed her head, her eyes raising upwards to indicate her horn. Though how could he no notice it? It wasn't small. She swished her tail along the ground and rose one cloven hoof upwards. Azn eyed his hooves, it looked like he might have them but she wasn't precisely sure. If she could take a closer look she would know for sure but she didn't. He could let her know if he had similar hooves or not.

Azn thought he appeared more flutter then unicorn. He had the abilities of a flutter, becoming larger or smaller as well as flying. He had no horn and so Azn came to the conclusion that he was unable to heal. Unless a horn was actually unneeded for crossbreeds?

"You are unable to heal, right?" Only way to find out was to ask.
