Alright, if you check the recent posts in the Clan Hall thread, you'll note that Westly is holding a celebration for Seisatsu's victory in the Clan Tournament. It's an all-day affair, starting with a parade in the morning, an award ceremony in the afternoon, followed by a feast, and culminating in the Delinquent Deathblow's grand re-opening as a multi-purpose entertainment center. That particular evening, it will serve as a concert hall slash dinner theater, as various songs and short plays recount the history of the Seisatsu clan, and celebrates its grand rebirth.

Now, you're probably wondering, 'Althor, what are you telling us this for? If you're doing all the planning, what do you need an open planning thread for?'

Well, there's three things:

1. A post on the front page lets people know the party's coming in advance.

2. The award ceremony will involve playing the theme songs or 'plate music' for each participant in the tournament, for each of the four clans, and for Azure and Nekage. I can make recommendations, but I think each author should have the final say in what their own character's theme song is.

3. The influx of people from the surrounding area to enjoy the festivities would serve to stimulate the local economy. Suggestions are welcome in general, but in particular, if your character owns a business of some sort in town, this would be a great time to plug it, set up a stand, etc.

First of all, I think it's poor sportsmanship to throw a party celebrating the severe assbeating you handed out in the tournament. Not gonna make a lot of friends that way.

redface That's not very nice...

And it's a celebration for everyone not just the Seisatsu... though as the winning clan it would be in their(our?) honor. sweatdrop Who doesn't love a good party!?

Ah, then that's different. Though I still think Althor's ego is rising to a level his skills cannot back up. If it is not deflated soon, it will crush our village. Something must be done! *runs off to get his biggest needle*

Also, most parties in gaioh wind down into a drunken stupor after about 3 pages of posts. Legal drinking age in gaioh = 10.

You make a good point. Perhaps the age for legal consumption for alcohol should be raised? xd

Or perhaps we could suggest other activities to distract from said beverages. Hide and seek? lol or ninja capture the flag? Or maybe a poetry reading! lol

I've always just taken it as assumed that the legal drinking/smoking age in Gaioh didn't apply to ninjas. It's kind of silly that at age 14, you can be sent to sneak into a royal gala and assassinate a nobleman, but still be forbidden from helping yourself to a champagne flute from a passing servant with a tray.

@Masa: I think Mel Brooks put it thusly: "Tragedy is when you cut your finger. Comedy is when you fall through an open manhole cover and die."

The entire point of the party Westly's throwing is, essentially, to go so incredibly over-the-top with his gloating that you can't possibly help but laugh.

I mean, follow my logic: Westly talking smack and otherwise being a sore winner would piss a lot of people off, because he's being an arrogant git. On the other hand, Westly literally throwing a day-long, city-wide festival in honor of just how amazingly awesome he is crosses the line twice and instead becomes completely hilarious.

"Refuge in Audacity" is the term I've heard used for this.

To add a third level to his smug-ocity, he is throwing the party in what can be consitered Forza's house, without him even knowing...
((Dont get me wrong, I'm all for this idea... Im just picturing Forza in a towel walking downstairs to be surrounded by most of the ninja village...))

While I still like the idea of this, I think I need to reevaluate the feasibility of throwing this party. College is starting to ramp up and crush my free time, and more to the point, the odds of getting everyone involved in the clan tournament to so much as show up seems less likely by the moment.

Though it pains me to even consider backing out of something I started, I don't think this is going to work out without severe delays in, well, anything that anyone else had hoped to plan.

Anyone wish to say something one way or another before I make a definite decision about this?
