What is worse/better?
Famine or Disease
Health food or medical conditions
Loud people of quiet people
being smart but afraid, or strong and stupid
Owning Vista or owning a Mac and not being able to afford anything for it
Going to the polls, or going to Iran
eating chocolate or eating red meat
Stupid social rules (wearing white after labor day-bah!) or having no rules (hurrah, ghetto city life)

Disease. We can at least try to cure it and most famine is natural or accidental. We don't try to cure diseases as much as we could. It does raise other issues such as animal testing etc.
Conditions can be prevented, but not cured a lot of the time. Health food has become more of a fad than anything else, i mean. How did we survive without it? *gasp*
Loud, depending on the context. What springs to mind is loud people on the bus or other forms of transport. Quiet people can be coaxed out of their shells, but loud people can just be irritating.
A balance of course, but a perfect medium is impossible to achieve. If everyone was one of these no society would work. So we need people on both sides of the spectrum.
Personally im a Macfag. I grew up with them though, so im bias. You don't need much to go with it really, but heck its your own choice.

Who cares? Both are delicious!
No rules = chaos, but annoying rules are terrible as well.

Famine or Disease -Although famile arguably brings on disease in some cases, disease also causes people not to be able to eat. Disease is worse.
Health food or medical conditions -Medical Conditions!! Healthy food makes you feel a LOT better when you eat it, and medical conditions...? Right up there with disease.
Loud people or quiet people -Both. Either way you end up burdened beyond enjoying yourself. I wouldn't mind having on of each around, and then sitting on the sidelines to watch them interact. O_o
being smart but afraid, or strong and stupid -Smart and afraid is worse, because those people leave no mark on the world. The stupid people sink or swim (and learn). When they swim, we call them inventors. ^^
Owning Vista or owning a Mac and not being able to afford anything for it -Owning a mac, as much as i hate to admit it. There's just too much wrong with that OS, too. I'd rather be able to throw my PC out the window and buy another one for twenty bucks.
