Recommended Fanfiction

This topic was inspired by the fact that quite a few of my own insights into the personalities and actions of certain characters in Final Fantasy VII have been spurred on by various pieces of fanfiction that I have stumbled across.

I'm not going to require anyone to read them, and I also won't tell you that some of them aren't disturbing or ridiculously fluffy, et cetera. I'm a person with a wide variety of interests, and I enjoy assimilating others' points of view into my own in order to better be able to explain certain things. You all know from my rants in the Idea thread that I like getting into the "Why?" behind what many of our characters do. And hey, maybe I'm the only one.

Regardless, I felt it would be nice to post the Fics that I personally found entertaining and insightful in some shape or form here. If you have your own, then by all means! Post them up here too.

Here are a couple I remembered off the top of my head. I will probably update this post as I find/remember more.

Summary: Tseng, and the mission that was doomed to failure from the very start.
Why You Chose this Fic - I agree with the author when they say it gives a reason behind why Aerith was able to evade Shin-Ra for so long. But beyond that, I feel that it helps to develop a relationship that might have been there between the two of them, but was never quite mentioned in the games, with the exception of Before Crisis.

Why You Chose this Fic - Well, it certainly explains the scene in Advent Children between the two, doesn't it?

Characters: Zack Fair, Aerith Gainsborough
Pairings: Zack/Aerith
Summary: Zack knows how he likes his women.
Why You Chose this Fic - To me, this is a perfect description of the way Zack thinks, and his relationship with Aerith.

Rating: M - Contains Content Suitable for Mature Teens and Older
Characters: Loz, Yazoo, Kadaj
Pairings: Loz/Yazoo, Loz/Yazoo/Kadaj
Summary: Loz, Yazoo, and Kadaj, growing up, as clones. History, sex, and violence. Pre-Advent Children AU, since they're technically shinentai rather than clones. Beware the Yaoi.
Why You Chose this Fic - This is probably one of the best ideas as to what had happened in the past during the raising of the three silver haired men. It hits me as surprisingly in character, considering it also could be seen as stretching quite a few things. But, beyond that, the relationship it depicts, in particular between Loz and Yazoo, and how they see Kadaj, all fits into my own deductions about how they were raised and feel towards each other.
