I don't like a men close shots. lol With facial hair. smile And not only facial.
#1 Have nothing I want to see. X)
#2 Also have nothing interesting for me. But it looks very good as reportage. Technically it's all good. Composition, light, focus, hightlighted main subject etc. Except the plastic instead of normal skin surfaces. Was it noise reducing?

Nope, no noise reduction. I only made them B/W...

I find both compositions a little weak, but they have potential. Shooting the first one differently but still close to hold interest would have probably worked better, but having the flat surface of his face its just a little boring.
The second one lacks interest, most likely from the position as well but I cant quite put my finger on it.

I like the idea behind the first one and I appreciate your use of sparse light but it's too dark, too heavy on the contrast and too tight a crop to really pull it off. Try shooting farther away from your model more and don't bump the contrast so harshly.
The second one is just kind of boring. There's nothing for the eye to really settle on, no story to the image, just a lot of messy elements.

I like the negative space on the first one, it adds to the overall mood.

Alright, first, let me say this. I personally love high contrast black and white photos that mainly focus on the eyes. I also prefer slight desaturation instead of turning a photo black and white. These are my personal preferences which everyone has different ones of. heart
Photo 1: It seems like this photo is very emotional and dark which you did a good job conveying. You also seemed to catch the ruggedness* of this person, but I think you could have improved this shot by backing up a little bit. This is going to sound silly but I think all of the uneven shadows look a bit sloppy. Also, I can't really see where hair and shadows split. Haha, this bothers me. I like how you incorporated the hand into the shot. Hands aren't used enough in photography. So, I think this picture could've really improved if you messed around more in photoshop with it. Like that black and white thing that has all the color and you can adjust which you want black, and which you want whiter.
Photo 2: Nothing really stands out to me in this photo. It seems like you meant for it to tell a story, but I see no story being told. Your main focus is on the mic, but WHY? The colors here also seem a little dull. Not much else to say. D:
It seems like you have lots of talent. <3
