Hi I don't know what I should get, another bass drum or upgrade to the DW 9002 double pedal? What are some good things and bad things about having two bass drums? Thanks

Upgrade your double bass pedal. Unless you are really good at tuning your drums you will get a weird, two pitched sound out of playing 2 bass drums. Plus, it is expensive, you need to find exactly the same bass drum you have now for it to sound right, then you need to buy a pedal anyway to have a second one, and you need to buy heads every once and a while. A double pedal is a million times more convenient. The only reason to ever get 2 bass drums in my opinion is if you play really fast speed metal, as two single pedals won't have the slave lag that you get from a double pedal.

Well, for double pedals:
Pros: Relatively easy to set up. Pitch is the same. Cons: Slave pedal doesn't feel as good as the master pedal. Due to two pedals on 1 drum, you can only get so much volume.
And for the double bass drums:
Pro: Both pedals are the same, therefore pedals have equally efficient movement. You'll be able to get the volume and punch you need and then some. Cons: Bulky and difficult to carry around and set up. Pitch problems, unless you want that sort of sound, (which some drummers do).

Two bass drums.
Double pedals are good for lower budgets, but get this:
A bass drum resonates and has the ability to sing, just like your toms. But with a double pedal, you hit once and just as it starts singing, you hit it with the other beater and it just dies.
Plus, your set looks cooler. xD

Double bass pedals are good If you just play at your house but if your in a band or going pro your going to want 2 bass drums. the beating of the head that fast isn't as good sounding as 2 separate bass drums. The first hit initiates the sound and the second dampens it.

I agree with you on the double bass though, it's like a sonic assault of doom! twisted

I Use a doublebass pedal but thats only because i cant afford another bass and pedal. I would preffer two basses personally the tuning wouldnt be a problem thats what they make pressure gauges for. All in all if i had the money id go with a second bass drum (if i had the money my kit would also be alot bigger lol)
