Okay, I haven't been as active as I would enjoy, but sue me! Back to topic, I've noticed a lot of stories involving parents and friends and family members who are disgusted by the thought of anything yaoi based, or guyxguy, ect. Basically homosexuality, well, from my own experience and many heated debates and parents who support my thoughts, I've come up with a survival guide! This involves Christianity too, since not to be stereotypical here (since I am a Christian myself), but I tend to notice Christianity, God, and the Bible really interfere in one's judgement or opinions, which it really shouldn't.
First off:
Christianity:
Approaching the subject with family members: Okay, I hear a lot about 'I hate my parents/family, because they are against homosexuality, ect.'
Do not hate your family, they grew up like this and homosexuality is way more out in the open than it was back then. Keep that in mind always. You can't hate them for not being accepting, even if it involves yourself. Just feel sad.
1. Approach the subject very carefully, see where they stand on it, without giving your own opinion on it.
2. Study up on your bible knowledge, because you can use it against them.
Ways to prove your point:
Once you've told your parents/family your views or if you yourself fall under the 'gay topic', you have to have back up in case they rebel against you and try to use the infamous lines against you.
My Dad always jokes around about the whole it's not Adam and Steve, but he's fine with lesbians because woman have the 'parts'.
I always say: Well it also wasn't Eve and Jean, for some reason (no offense) fathers and men in particular are more fine with lesbians than gay guys, most likely due to it being their own gender. So try to think up a catchy line, without getting yourself in deep trouble, that line has always shut up my father.
People will also refer back to the bible, the whole biblical story about gays. I'm not good with names, so excuse my lack of biblical names here, but when God was angered at, wasn't the actual homosexuality and relationship (though he may not have fully approved due to Adam and Eve, ect.) he was enraged, because the man already had a wife (correct me if I'm wrong here) and forced the other man to play a woman's part, it wasn't love it was what they called a quck f*ck. Excuse my language and sex was meant to be making love as one, a union, though intended between man and woman, could vary over time.
Something to bring up:
I read this in an opposing view points in a book called 'Sexual Values' and it included everything good for this subject. When someone goes up to a straight person, they don't think about what they do behind closed doors or under the sheets, but when someone goes up to a gay or lesbian they first think about the actual sexual act, instead of the pure, loving relationship they may develop between someone. It's a point to keep in mind.
I also don't recall it ever saying in the bible 'thou shall not be gay or lesbian'. But hey, I've been proven wrong before me. Step up to the plate if you wish.
In the bible it also, supposedly, says something about 'love conquers all sins'. I know there is a line to this that can't be broken, but God wished for a relationship to be pure and happy, not broken and false feelings. Wouldn't he accept you, as his child, for being honest to your heart, then lying and marrying someone you don't truly care for or being with them?

eh...I stopped caring a long time ago. My parents aren't accepting of it. They just live with it. I'm not accepting of my own orientation. I live with it. End of story.

i'm WAYY 2 scared 2 tell my parents i like yaoi so i'm not gonna tell them i'll just let them find out on there own(probably by stalking my computer like i know they do)

my parents fond the pictures on my computer a long time ago, they pretty much don't care as long as they don't see any hard stuff

my mom's a lesbian! =3 lucky me....but she despises yaoi and loves yuri! it was kinda embarrassing! I still haven't told my grandparents.... =3 I am straight but my uncle and mom are gay so i pretty much live by "Love is Love No Matter What!" =3 3nodding

i'm not bothering with it. my mom already knows && acts like i never told her. she jokes about homo and bisexuality, && when i say it hurts my feelings she says "why would it hurt your feelings? you're normal" so, i don't tell her about my enjoyment of yaoi && yuri. there's no point to it.

my god when I finally told my parents about my side hobby, they started to question if i was gay. So i told them. I havent been home in almost 6 months since they kicked me out of the house. For parents who are supposed to be open to everything(its wot my mom said) they sure had a hard time accepting it. At first they were fine with it, but then they started snooping thru my stuff. then they sent me to bible outings and s**t. When I finally asked them if they were bothered by it, they said yes. So I asked them if theyd rather me of been born straight. they said yes. So I told them they'd have to live with me being gay or kick me out. Yeah, well, they kicked me out. I'm better now, I live with my Aunt who's totally cool with it, but it still stings to think that my own parents couldnt accept me. I'm their own flesh and blood ya know? but anyways...maybe things will get better, who knows. I'm proud of me!!

I'm too scared of anyone finding out i like yaoi. My best friend knows and she doesn't mind besides shes the one that introduced me to yaoi. And before I go off the computer I always go to tools and delete the browsing history so my mom wont see what I go on since she works with computers and crap. Besides you're supposed to delete browsing history and the rest of the stuff or it makes hacking your computer a lot more easier so if anyone sees me deleting it I don't have to tell them the REAL reason ;P haha!

My whole family/Friends/Relatives/everyone I know, knows that I love Yaoi they dont really care, which shocks me, I know its hard for you guys i read the post.

Telll my parents no, tell my friends yes. My mom got pissed looking at vampire chronicals because guys were being other guys companions. Which is a phucking nice vampire chronicals its screams shounen-ai. (SYFY yesterday )

Hmmm my mum and dad are pretty cool. They said "oh what is yaoi? And could you get pregtnat from this?"

When I explain them the word Yaoi the looked at me and said "You little pervert girl oO But if you like it...pls don't bother us with it"

this really doesnt relate to telling parents about yaoi but when i told my mom ( dont live wit dad ) that i was going out wit my bestest of friends, she shoved it aside... but i later went to a mental hospital for cutting because i was away from her for too long ( hmmm i wonder whose the reason for that happening ninja ) then when she found out y i was cutting, and wanted me to NOT cut... she tried to make me happy... and before i was in the hospital i was seeing my friend more than when i was out...so now due to financial reasons im now living 3 states away from her with the worst people in the world
now dont tell me thats not accepting your own flesh and blood
