In a way, this is like a poetry slam, but it'll test your rhyming and your humor. Now obviously we can't be like the contestants and do on the spot improv, but we can get close. Therefore, we'll follow this structure to pick the winner.
Rounding up Contestants
Now, I want people to take some time to participate, regardless of how busy they are. It doesn't require too much commitment, and it should be fun. Therefore, I want at least four contestants, so in order to enter, fill out this quick form.
Name
Watch any Whose Line?
If so, who's your favorite performer?
If not, how come?
Just for fun, write two to four lines in rhyme about how awesome you are:
Round 1: Hoedown! Complete! (11/5th-30th)
A hoedown is pretty easy to do online, but here's how it works. Once I have at least four contestants, I will put up a topic for the hoedown in this font:
Wow, it's a Hoedown Topic!
In the original Whose Line game, the object is to very quickly think of a four-line song to go with a Hoedown melody based on said topic. The final line is meant to be a punchline. In this case, we'll follow the same format, but in writing. For every topic, I want to see four contributions from four different contestants before I move on to the next topic. Whoever writes the verses that we find the funniest becomes one of four semifinalists to compete in the second round (or, if there are only four contestants, everybody wins the first round).
For those spoilsports bystanders who aren't participating, feel free to give me suggestions on what we should "sing" about.
Here's a very funny example of a Whose Line Hoedown.
Round 2: Irish Drinking Song! Complete! (12/1st-1/4th)
Irish Drinking Song is also a musical game from Whose Line, where the object of the game is to sing one line at a time throughout a line of four people. For example, if the line goes Wayne-Jeff-Colin-Ryan, Wayne starts the song off, with Jeff singing the second line, Colin singing the third, and Ryan singing the fourth, and then they repeat to finish the first verse. Once the second verse starts (All verses end with, "Oh, hi-dee-di-dee-di-dee-di-dee-di-dee-di-dee-di!"), Jeff starts with the first line, and it goes down as such until it reaches the point that Colin says the final line in the drinking song. Normally each person who gets the final line in a verse will of course say something funny.
In our case, we'll merely write out the lines as the four semifinalists will alternate lines. Again, I will assign you topics to sing about, using the same font as the Hoedown topic. Every time the semifinalists finish a verse (consisting of two lines from each person), someone assigned will write the "Hi-dee-di" line since we can't really sing it. Again, the two who have the funniest lines will become the finalists in round three.
Here is an example of a funny Whose Line Irish Drinking Song.
Round 3: Scene to Rap! Complete! (1/6th-2/11th)
Normally Scene to Rap is played by all four contestants on the show, each of them contributing a rap to a particular scene. In this case, we will have two contestants writing up raps pertaining to the assigned setting.
When a scene or event is assigned, the two finalists will each say three sets of four to eight rapping lines, alternating with each other. The funniest will be voted on and win! And remember, the more lines, the more credibility.
Here is a great example of Scene to Rap with Stephen Colbert!
I know it's not quite like the real thing. Maybe if we had Skype and some music we could do the real thing, but it's unlikely. But this should be fun and easy to do!
