heart Suicide Spicy Taco Ranger heart I know when most of us were little, we had dreams of what we wanted to become in life. Maybe more, or maybe fewer still dream. It's never too late to make change and live your dreams.
My family was very poor growing up. I think I had like two sets of clothes. We played pretend a lot because we didn't have many toys. But we had the greatest times of our lives. I never wanted to be rich, but I always wanted to see the world, to explore and climb mountains, and to become a writer. I started with making clocks. I still do every now and then. Later in Europe I took up commissions for art, doing portraits for weddings and family gatherings, etc. Of course, I couldn't make a living off it, so I still had a job. Having jobs has helped me to nurture and fuel my desire to pursue my goals, and they give me the finances to take care of all the details. I am a published writer and a professional operative in my field. There are still many places I want to see and many more things I wish to write about. both take time, planning and work, but it's all a part of living my dream.
So what are your goals? What are your ambitions? What dreams are burning to escape the yolk of vision and be realized?
The future is yours...

♥ This December, i'll be turning 17. Sefira, you and i grew up in totally different environments. From when i was born to when i was 3, i was spoiled because my family is well... very wealthy. People would call me a spoiled brat, but i wouldn't think of it that way. I may be spoiled, but i'm sure not a brat about it. I appreciate everything i get. Ever since i could remember, i have always dreamed to be a singer. Now that i'm going to school, i realize that maybe people can still keep up with their passion (like for me, it's singing) and still have a reliable, steady job. Two years ago, i was taking this Planning course and the teacher asked me three questions. 1) What do your parents want you to be? 2) What do you want to be? 3) What do you think you'll end up being in the end? My answers were as follows: 1) What do your parents want you to be? A Nurse 2) What do you want to be? A Singer 3) What do you think you'll end up being in the end? A Nurse Currently, i just want to take a year break after graduating. I want to take a year off and figure everything out. I want and need a break. I feel that i've worn myself out between schoolwork and volunteering for my school club. Can you believe i've volunteered over 700 hours?! And that's only in the course of 2 years! But yeah, i'm pretty sure i'm gonna take up Nursing in college / university. I'll probably join a few choirs on the side. I feel blessed that at such a young age, i feel like i have total control over what i want to do with my life. ♥

heart Suicide Spicy Taco Ranger heart Sometimes it's hard to achieve our dreams while having to make a living, but it sounds like you have what it takes. You have goals and ambition. I certainly can't see why you couldn't be a nurse and a singer. If you've got a good voice - take it as far as you can 3nodding The fact that you could volunteer so much time while still doing school makes it evident that you can diversify your accomplishments. And 700 hours... zoinks! On one hand you could pursue singing on the side, and since it's something you enjoy, even if it doesn't go far you will have a good time with it. On the other hand it may even take you further than your job in time. For me, I'm trying to get my writing to make as much money as my regular job. As of now it's mostly a matter of product volume. But it occured to me, if it ever makes as much, why not just keep doing both? My job makes me happy and writing makes me happy. So if Nursing and singing make you happy, then I'd say you're off to a good start mrgreen

Yeah, things like writing, and singing, and art stuff... often are hard to get lots of money from fast... You usually gotta do them on the side, until your certain they will be self sufficient... at which point you can either, go to just that, or stick with that and whatever else you're doing.
Just try to make sure you enjoy it, whatever it may be. ^^ And truth is... sometimes, we can actually make ourselves enjoy something... just by choosing to. The mind has a lot of power.

♥ I think that's why i'm choosing to do nursing. I realized halfway that nursing is something i'll probably grow to like and it's something that would apply to my life outside of work. And anyways, if i don't like it, then i'll just change my major xd ♥

Plenty of people don't really have a clue who they wanna be, even up to their freshman year of college. Then there are a few who actually believe from when they are little, they wanna be something, and stick to it... But I'd say a majority of us aren't like that.

Ok, I think I have enough time to write in this thread.
I wanted to be an actress. I thought I was pretty good when I was younger. My church used to call Children’s Worship ‘the Becca show’ because no matter what they did, I always managed to get a hold of the mic and say whatever was on my mind. I usually started with the phrase ‘My mother told me…’.
Then I got to high school and met REAL actors. Kids that someday would be on Broadway or in Hollywood. Or in some movie. Compared to them, I was barely better than a ‘normal person’. If I was a Drama Queen, these people were Gods and Goddesses. I was blown out of the water.
At first, I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know where my life was going to go. I didn’t think I could satisfy myself if I was just an extra in a movie or play. Would you call that a ‘mid-life crisis’? Then I thought ‘just because I wasn’t going to be in a spotlight for acting, didn’t mean that I couldn’t be in one for something else’. So I took stock. I thought back to Children’s Worship and realized that it wasn’t acting that I enjoyed, but telling stories and having people listen. Writing just called to me.
The funny thing is I hated to read until something like second grade. My parents were frantic. My older sister was reading before kindergarten. I couldn’t even read for school. For some reason the teacher I was assigned to couldn’t teach anymore. I don’t remember why. So we had for a while Ms. Webber. WORST TEACHER EVER! She called Social Services on half of her students. Including me. I thought it was because I wasn’t doing my homework (because I didn’t like to read). My mom told me last year that I was because she said that I had said something, *give a look toward the ceiling in thought*... shall we say, inappropriate?

My mother didn’t believe her though, thank God. She knew that if I was saying something like that, she would have already heard it from people at Church. Not some crazy old lady. Well, I guess someone complained or something because after a while, Ms. Webber was replaced. So we got the brand-new, never taught before, about to be married over the next summer, Miss Laughlin. She would read to us during class. First it was Goosebumps, but I got nightmares. So she switched to the Boxcar Children. She would hold me after class to get me to read. When I finally did a book report (my first one!), she put me in for an award that was given to me in front of the whole school. Before then, my older sister was the one that got the rewards.
A funny twist: My sixth grade English teacher didn’t like it when I read in class. She thought I couldn’t hear her and read at the same time. I made an effort not to be looking down at my book when she was speaking after that. But one day, after the bell had just rung, I had put my thumb in my book, my book in between my legs and under the table. She thought I was still reading it when she looked at me so she gave me a referral and took the book away. The Vice Principal thought it was silly too, but he didn’t want Mrs. Lewellen to be mad at him, so I stayed after school one day for like ten minutes. He called up my parents, and they told him that they had trouble getting me to read, so they weren’t going to punish me for doing it now.
Anyway, although I'm probably not going to be seen on stage during a big production, I'm happy with the choices I've made and I don't think I'll regret it.

 ♥ That's awesome, Poisyn!
You know how you were saying that when you entered HS, you were exposed to amazing actors?
In elementary school, i already knew i had 'competition.' Funny thing is, that 'competition' is now one of my closest friends. Now i'm about to graduate HS and me and her are still really good friends. There's this girl at my school... amber. She's always the one who wins first at talent shows and she's such a cocky BEE about it a lot of the time. You can see how much it's gotten to her head that she's won first three years in a row. This year was her third. And you know the stupidest thing? She won two times this year. So technically, she's won 4 times >.<
Anyways, i'll explain more later when i get home.. ♥

As kids we think we can easily just jump up to whatever we want to be... and skip all the slightly murky middle stuff... But often, what society doesn't tell us is that we usually have to go through the middle grounds to become the best.
To really do well in something, you have to put your whole 'heart and soul' into it, for many years. Even just naturally being gifted will not make you the best of the best. You still gotta train your giftings into what you want them to be.
And as far as getting into something like acting... most people don't start off the main star of the show... but rather they do side things... and build up to it... Just like most people don't start out the CEO of a company.

♥ that's so true, Fuzz. You took the exact words out of my mouth..
But yeah, she came in first and second cuz she was in the show two times. And the stupidest thing is, she's acting up on this whole power trip now. Her head is so big and people don't like her for it. Before the show, i saw her getting ready in the dressing room and she put an electric fan to her face and she looked in the mirror and started posing and TAKING PICTURES OF HERSELF. Now self-centered is that?! Anyways, her friends are starting to warn her now because she's starting to piss them off too. It just goes to show that if you do win, you have to realize that it's a privilege. You need to realize that you need to be humble about these things because if you're so inlove with yourself, a lot of people won't respect you. It's actually so sad what she's become. She used to be sweet little amber, and now she's this little cocky BEE who talks about people behind their backs. Yes, she was. She was the lead of the school play last year and i overheard her saying to other people "Why do we need her and him to be in the play? They don't even know how to sing.., they're just gonna ruin the whole entire show..."
Doesn't that just seem a little cocky?♥

Back in the days of yore, I wanted to be a princess/ballerina/cowgirl.
Now, I'd love nothing more then to teach English in Taiwan. My Chinese needs a little more "shining up", but all in good time...

@Pink: Ya, egos can definitely go to people's heads... till they wake up from dream world one day... and realize the world doesn't revolve around them all the time.

Psh, The Chinese we speak here is a mix of Mandarin with some Taiwanese (Whole other language....) It's a real pain in the a**, if you ask me.
Honestly, I've always favored becoming either the Yellow Power Ranger, or Chichi from DBZ. But the harsh world tore down those dreams quickly.
