First and foremost, apologies for the wait. I've just been sorting some business out so I've been otherwise "detained".
Hoenir is a member of the Aesir from Norse mythology. He is generally included amongst the three primary gods who created and gifted Ask and Embla (the first humans in Norse respects).
It is said that he gave unto them Od', which bares a few different meanings; most predominantly it is believed that it would be poetry.
Hoenir was also one of two Aesir sent to the Vanir (another race of gods) as a truce hostage (the other being Mimir). It is said that the Vanir were so taken with Hoenir that they entitled him a Chieftain. However, when the Vanir would come to him with inquiries, he would always remain indecisive; or would rely upon Mimir to answer these questions. In agitation they beheaded Mimir and sent the head to Odin. Somehow it is assumed he preserved and gained the wisdom from Mimir's head, thusly Hoenir is seen as partly responsible for contributing to Odin's "mastery" of wisdom.
It is also noted that Hoenir is one of the Aesir who manage to survive the Ragnarok. Most are listed amongst pairs, but Hoenir is listed by himself.
Hoenir apparently also maintains various awkward titles such as Swift God, Long Leg, and Mud King. Due to the name Long Leg and other descriptive factors, he is sometimes associated with a Crane.
Also, Hoenir is listed in various eddas (Norse poems) in which he engages in various travels and tasks with Odin and Loki.
That is unfortunately all I have on Hoenir at the moment as I need to commit to more research.
So until next time, and always.
Stay tuned for the next episode!!!! scream
