I had a blast at the event last weekend. It seemed everyone was having a good time.
I was very happy with how it went. It was our first event at a hotel, and I think it worked well.
However I would like to know other people's impressions.
What did you think of the event. Did you like having it at a hotel, or do you prefer the church basement?
We are also starting to look towards our New Years event. Traditionally we have done an overnight on New Years eve for the last 5 years.
I am thinking about doing that again, but I am wondering if I should try and get a hotel or have it at the church.
Let me know what you think. -Joel

The only thing I liked about the hotel above the church is that the gaming room was a lot more diverse, and had a lot more things to do in it.
Other than that, I found that the space was minimal, and there weren't enough rooms compared to the church.
And I won't say anything about money, because it's tough enough to pay for the regular event and get there for a commuter gal like me.
That's my two cents.

I liked the hotel for events that are bigger, such as the Halloween event and the New Years event. When we have a dance, i think its a must that we have it in a location where we dont have to worry about sound ordinance and crap. The gaming was also better at the hotel, just because it was a bigger room with more stuff to offer, thanks to Tony.
I think, given proper thought, you could prolly do a lot of the same stuff at the church, and it would be cheaper.
Overall, i didnt notice a huge difference between the two. I like them both.

Gah! I had a great time! I loved this event! It was my first halloween event so I guess I don't ahve much to compare it to, but I had fun. Unfortunately I came late in the day so I missed most of it, but still. Pretty epic-awesome. smile Next time...maybe a room for storage purposes? Purses, extra clothes etc. It was hard to keep track of stuff, but maybe if we had a room for all of it...? Just a thought. ^^

Eagle Anime is not responsible for lost items. Its not our place to look after your s**t. Just a thought.

You shouldn't bring stuff like that if you're too lazy to want to pay attention to it.
I bring tons of stuff at every event I go to, and I have no problem keeping track of it, ha ha.

I prefered it at the hotel. We had to worry about our noise level at the church. They were also quite rude to people attending the event. I'd try to shoot for a different location because Maplewood from where I live was extremely hard to get to with all the construction going on.
And as for the item topic, if you don't want to look after something, then don't bring it. Or put it inside something that you will have with you all night...like a pocket or purse. Keep it in your car if you have to. I take a lot of things too and always keep it with me.

Generally the church location works well, because it is cheap, and there is quite a bit of space. However last time we did have some issues with a group that was not supposed to be there. That will not happen again.
I know Maplewood (or even St. Paul), is not centrally located. However when we look for areas, we look for cheap places, and often they are out of the way.
Most of our events will continue to take place at the church location for the immediate future. However we are planning on opening a store sometime next year.
