Sorry, just trying to get some more active activity up in here.
So we've already got a thread dedicated to how you like Matt's personality. And really, it's a shame we have to have a thread for that because despite Matt and his infinite fandom, really he is what some fans refer to as a "blank slate" character. His personality and just about everything about him is left up to debate except for the following facts: He wears goggles, plays video games, doesn't like the outdoors, was third best at Wammy's, works for Mello for unknown reasons, real name is Mail Jeevas, and his bday is 2-1-90. Oh, and he smokes.
Yeah that's seriously all the hard core facts about him. Everything else is either fanon, or... no yeah, that's it. Fanon. xd
Some common fanon traits are Matt's love for stripes. He wears a striped shirt in the only outfit he's ever worn, and suddenly all his shirts have stripes on them. lol His red hair. Green eyes.
What I want to discuss is, what other traits and quirks do you like to give your version of Matt? Matt's a blank slate, so you as a fan give him personality. Some fans follow the most common fanon (ie red hair and green eyes), some follow the anime (brown/green hair, red shirt), some throw in their own quirks here and there.
Here are some of my Matt quirks:
He's not obsessed with stripes. Likes them, well yeah. His shirt and pants had stripes on them, so I guess he's a fan. But I don't always draw him in stripes. That gets old. I normally stick him in a novelty Tshirt here and there.
Matt-smirk. :B That's what my sister calls it whenever I draw Matt smiling/smirking. I love the Matt-smirk. It's a result of the apathy and sarcasm that tends to come with my Matt, which is what my Matt uses to balance out Mello's tendency to be over emotional and spaz.
Height. He is officially an inch shorter than Mello at 5'5 where as Mello's 5'6. I think Ohba was lying. I make Matt at least an inch taller than Mello since it's a bad habit from the days when no one knew of these apparent height differences and always made Matt taller.
Seme!Matt ftw. Self explanatory but I like dominant Matt. He doesn't have to be in charge, per se. Mello is almost always in charge. My Matt just rebels most of the way but always ends up doing whatever Mello wants. And that includes the sex. But Matt should still be seme. xd
Blue eyes. Yeah. I went there. He has blue eyes in the anime, but I didn't know that at first. I just always liked him better with blue eyes.
I think that's about it.
Some quirks I don't like personally are green eyed Matt gonk , uke!Matt, cutter/emo!Matt, and short Matt. neutral Although short Matt is technically canon, it's just not my favorite.

Hmm... let me think now. My role play Matt.
He's smart, for one, since a lot of people like making him a dumb a**. I give him social anxiety, which explains why he doesn't like the outdoor. SImply, less people to deal with. I like making Kid! Matt a bit playful with Mello. I like making him the only good/positive thing in Mello's life. I make Teen! Matt like all other teen boys, horny bastards. I tend to make him bisexual. Ooh! And he is NOT a push over. Yeah, sure he'll do what Mello says, up to a certain point. He is not afraid to get into physical fights with Mello when need be. Umm... I'm interchangeable with his eye color, but he always has red hair. He doesn't always wear his vest. Ummm.... there is probably more, but I just can't remember, since I role play and write Mello more than I do Matt.

Oh oh I concur~ 8D My Matt gets into fights with Mello and doesn't always lose. Even physical fights. Pushover Matt = fail. Also, my Matt would be straight if it wasn't for Mello. xD In fact, my Matt often flirts with girls. Mostly to piss off Mello, but they would be the type he'd be attracted to if it wasn't for Mello.

Wow, so basically mention what you think of Matt, well my roleplay wise xD
I take everything that is canon and mix it with my own things. Hmmm, he is a total scarastic joker a lot of the time, to the point that he makes Mello mad A LOT! XD And teases him by calling him "Melly Welly" But~ xD He hates chocolate xD He does not understand how Mello can like that crap, because it tastes aweful to him. He hates taking medicine(From a RP that, that happened with him once xD). And I make Matt Uke for the most part ">> But, he is not some whiney Uke or anything, he is just see he will do whatever Mello tells him too and Mellos personality makes me think that, BUT! I think it depends on Mello and Matts moods who would be Seme or Uke, I call it MelloMatt, because it sounds better to me, but really either could be Seme to me. And Yes, I have Matt not be a pushover with Mello, if Mello yells at him, he does not get all upset about it, he just yells back, then they fight and then kiss and make up xD Because, Matt is with Mello in my beliefs of course. I also have a past that I made up for Matt, but I am not getting into that, because a fanfic I am going to write will that in it. Also, Wammy!Matt I like to think he sucked lolipops, before he started smoking, just something I like to add that and he was a bit diffrent as a kid then as an adult. Oh and Matt has green eyes to me X3
I like to think of Matt taller then Mello, but it is not true =/ But, I like to go canon wise, so it does not bother me that he is shorter xD
Things I do not like....Emo!Matt, that is so NOT his personality, I mean look at canon Matt and you can cleary see that he is not emo ">> That is about all I can think of, because I like a lot of other things with Matt.
Oh sexuality xD I see that Matt was probally more or less Biseuxal and Mello was probally gay or at least biseual, but when I rp Matt he is gay, because it started as a joke with a friend and it just stuck, but in all honesty I think he was bisexual. So, I like interpeating him gay, but I think he is bisexual.
That is all I can think of right now, I will say more if I think about it ^^;;;

Eh, what's canon what's not? XD I'm like such a rebel. I always do it my way and hope no one calls me on it~ Especially teller-than-Mello-Matt. I'm so awful! XDDDD <3

True XD I jsut like to go by canon and then add things, because his character is so much to add to, since we do not know a lot XD It is like what I do with Linda, I take canon things and mix with my own XD

I like a kind of lazy Matt. Like, he's smart... But he doesn't really want to go out of his way to get more work. He'd rather stay in and play games. I like to make him a flirt, but not someone who would cross their boundries. I picture him being fairly non-confronational, but still arrogant. Maybe not arrogant... But definately cocky and sure of himself.
I picture him as not being easily manipulated, but he likes to play along. Like, when Mello asks him to do something it's just; "Sure, sure... I was headin' out for smokes anyway."
VERY easygoing, but he can move when he needs to. As per the "outside" deal, yeah. I hate going outside too, but I have reason, so feel like he doesn't need to reason with himself or anyone else. He'll do whatever the hell he wants.
OH YEAH. And I picture him Seme. But... Lazy Seme. Like; you have to initiate it, but he'll be on top in the end.

I defintly agree with that 1st part, Matt to me, hates learning things he already knows, so he just chooses not to pay attention and not only that, but he does not apply himself, because he would rather be lazy and play games then learn. Which is why a lot of the time he is wondered if he appled himself just how smart he acutally is.
Oh, Matt would not be manipulated, he certainly is smarter then that I agree there too.
That is something I agree with too. He is a pretty easy going guy and he will do what he wants, but at the same time be obident, but only towards Mello, he is his best friend and he wants to help him after all.
That is funny to imagine, but his lazyness that I see him Uke, but with anyone, but Mello, I am not sure if Matt would be Seme or Uke, I see him more the Seme-Uke, he can either XD IT depends on the moods and the siuations xD I just perfer Uke!Matt with Mello xD
