I was scratching my head a little while ago, and found it tender right next to where the tumor was removed. I had my daughter check it to see if it's an ingrown hair, or pimple. She couldn't find anything. So I showed her exactly where it is. She saw a small spot, not red or anything, just raised. That's how the first tumor started, I think. I'm not sure. Thought it was an ingrown hair at the time, and then it was misdiagnosed as a cyst by 2 doctors. Only found out it was cancer by the biopsy from having it removed. The tumor was there for about 8 years. It was/is basal cell, so the "best" kind of cancer to have....unless you leave it for too long, and then it can grow into bone and such. So we don't know if it went into my skull. We're still at "keep an eye on it" stages, to see if anything grows. Biopsying the bone is too dangerous, as it's the top of my head. This is where my imagination runs with it. If it IS in my skull, and it's growing in there and we don't know it, and it moves on in to my brain...I'm done. So any small, normal, bump, is gonna freak me out, and I'm going to waste lots of time, and money, at the doctor's office. I'm wondering if I can ever get over that.

DON'T freak... just go spend all your money at the doctor. That's what I do. You have friends and relatives to help, and I'd rather be poor and alive than ... well, you get the point.
I'm with you, girl. I know that shaky feeling, and I hope you get past it real quick.

And today the bump is gone. So weird. How can I show him something that doesn't exist? Oy

Wow, it's gone? How long ago did you have the original lump removed? If it was fairly recently, maybe it was just swelling or an infection at the incision site? I'd saying it's worth telling your doctor about, but I would think the fact that it went away is a good sign. 3nodding

It was removed in May. I had a 3 month check, and it was fine. My daughter found an ingrown hair a couple weeks ago, and about an inch from where there was the hair was the little bump. So yeah, I dunno.

So darlin, did you at least call the doctor?
I got into a bunch of weird physical problems, and because I didn't check with the doctor and get the right meds to clear it all up, I have delayed my treatment at least two weeks. Not smart.

No. I didn't. Since there's nothing there to show him or anything....."I had a bump, but now it's gone" sounds so stupid. redface

It doesn't sound stupid to me! The human body is a weird thing. xp If I were a doctor and someone came to me saying, "I had a bump, but it's gone now," it's true that I wouldn't be able to examine the nonexistent bump, but I'd make a note of it at least. xp You never know what information might be important in the future. 3nodding

I'll call him on Monday, when he's there. I've noticed my skull isn't shaped the way it was before, or I just noticed that bump in my head..... If I just now noticed the way my skull is shaped, then wow. But I really don't remember there being an indentation there before. eek

Sorry.
Just being paranoid, apparently. *sigh* So I feel stupid. Only thing wrong with my scalp right now is dry skin from the weather. And the paranoia isn't going to get any better until I'm 110% sure the cancer didn't go into the bone.

You're not stupid. I sure don't blame you for being paranoid. You had a huge scare, and you're still dealing with a lot of perfectly normal fears. I think you're dealing with it a heck of a lot better than I would be. I was a mess for a little while when they told me I probably don't have cancer. xp So I say go ahead and be as paranoid as you want. xp And when it turns out to be just dry skin, that's something to celebrate, not something to feel stupid about. xp

I had a bone scan before they started treatment. It's an injection with some radioactive something, then a short wait for it to distribute throughout your bones, then a CT scan (several) to track any lesions to the bones.
Ask them about that. They did it for me to see if the breast cancer had spread anywhere (I had several CT scans, and a couple of x-rays) before they decided what chemicals to use. I will have more about two weeks or so after the last treatment (this Friday).

I'll do that the next time I see him. Sounds like it may be a good plan for piece of mind.

So had to go in to the doc's office today to get a signature for the kid's Uni papers. Talked to Mechelle, the doc's nurse, about my head. She said to not really worry about anything unless it's a scab like growth, or larger bump. The small bumps are nothing. Any changes in bone density that can be felt is a big flag, and I'm obsessed with feeling the top of my head out of paranoia, so I'll feel anything that changes. Hard part is going to be when my daughter moves out. She looks up there to see if it's an ingrown hair, or something minor like that. Once she's gone, I got no one.
