Got to be Emperor Bulbax from the first Pikmin. With his extended amount of life as compared to the later versions in Pikmin two, he simply outclasses every boss..Plus there's no boss that's made such a mental impact. Springing up from the ground unexpectedly and using wide sweeping tounge moves. Of course once you get the strategy down, he can become fairly harmless.
On another note, I normally give bosses human names (Beady Long Legs - Jeff , Raging Long Legs - Bob , Burrowing Snagret - Petey , etc.), but Emperor Bulbax retains his original game name (except being called a Holy ---- on our first meeting XD). Suppose he earned it.

Water Wraith is pretty hard to kill when you don't know what to do. He's invincible till the last floor of submerged castle. I remember trying to kill him. 5 Pikmin Extinctions

The Water Wraith can be a bit annoying (especially when you're trying to get a perfect on the challenges), but is really quite a pushover once you got him pinned. I have to say that purple Pikmin and the ultra spicy/ultra bitter sprays took away the challenge that was felt in the first Pikmin one..Not to mention the unlimited time compared to the first game's 'hurry up' pace. I guess I lean more on the first game for the challenge aspect and play Pikmin 2 for leisure.

I wouldn't say that the Water Wraith's the hardest boss (he's simple once you get to the last floor), but he gets an honorable mention. I hate going through Submerged Castle because I'm almost never fast enough to get through anything beyond the first (and maybe second) floors before he shows up, starts killing Pikmin and I have to restart.
I might have to go with the Emperor Bulblax from the first game. None of the other bosses in either game gave me as much trouble as him and a rematch doesn't sound too fun.
I also remember losing a ton of pikmin to the Smoky Progg, but he's not a boss.

I suppose the Smoky Progg wouldn't count as a boss because you don't HAVE to fight it. But considering the extra life it has and its toughness some people might consider it a boss. I really tend to bypass the Progg because it's not worth the time. It takes up about 1/3 of my day, and if I really wanted 100 Pikmin I'd just kill a Clam Clamp...I'd only battle it if it was part of a challenge.

For me it was the titan Dweevil.I agree that the potions took some of the challenge out of it but when you run out after relying on them to kill some of the tougher enemies then it puts a little bit more back than it took out.
Anyways, back to the Titan Dweevil. He was the toughest for me hands down.My first time fighting him I lost around 80 or so Pikmin and had to hurry to the geyser to get out and get to de choppa...sorry,bad time for that pun...Anyways,after I finally learned to kill him things almost got easier, then I learned that when one of his weapons is almost removed it does double time.Sheesh!I hated him soooo much. Then I beat him with 45 Pikmin left.I got all the treasures in,got Louie, and got the heck out of there. Then,on a different file, after paying off the debt in 16 days I went to the Dweevil again and lost only 1 to him.My best record but I'm not proud of sticking around long enough to get more Pikmin. For all I cared Hocotate could have gone out of business,I just liked the Pikmin.(Currently I am on day 267 on my perfect file, trying to get to day 365.)
I agree the Emperor Bulblax in the first game was amazingly tough but I had played 2 before 1 so I had a basic idea of how to kill him(just without potions even though I rarely have any to begin with)but I did lose a few Pikmin to him obviously...stupid bombs...That's my rant and I'm sticking to it.

Gotta go with the Progg.
If you only count story mode bosses though, Titan Dweevil was annoying to beat.

As said before, Smoky's optional. A waste of time on my part, though it was very challenging. I'll have to go with the Emporer Bulbax in the original Pikmin. Mainly because it takes so much time to beat.

i agree, we hate the smokey progg
The titan dweevil was the hardest for me difficulty wise, but he followed a pattern and if nothing went wrong you could beat him with only losing a couple. But for me the hardest is the red snageret, takes forever to kill, rarely flinches, and is hard to get pikmin onto.

i have to admit that Emperor Bulbax gave me quit a scare when i first battled him, but there are several ways you can kill him and i found it easy to get the skills needed down. for me progg was the hardest to beat (almost not worth the 100 pikmin considering the ones i had lost trying to get them)

When Pikmin die i feel really bad becaus ei made them die, so i run from some enemies unless it`s inevitable. I`d have to say the Man-At-Legs is the hardest. RAPID FIRE LAZER GUIDED MACHINE GUNS? WTF?

And i didn`t even make it in time to the Distant Spring to see the egg for Progg. and i sadly haven`t even gotten the perfect ending for Pikmin 1. 4 Reds, 150 Blues and 22 Yellows.
