I thought this would be a good topic to discuss: Country aritists covering songs originally done by, either other country artists, or artists in other genres. I was thinking of a few examples like, Blake Shelton's recent cover of Michael Buble's 'Home', Lonestar's remake of 'Walking in Memphis, and Phil Vassar's remake of 'It's a Beautiful Thing', or 'Love Is A Beautiful Thing' originally sung by Paul Brandt, written by Jeffrey Steele and Craig Wiseman. I can't think of any other examples at the moment... but I know there are tons more out there! What are your thoughts?

I like Alson Krauss' singing "When You Say Nothing At All" which is also a Keith Whitley song.

shannon_m I also like that song, Alison Krauss is amazing! I still get chills everytime I hear Whiskey Lullaby. "Whiskey Lullaby" is so touching it makes me cry. sad Here's another one I know that's been done by others as well. "The Rose." I really like the ver. LeAnn RImes sings of it. I relate to that one in a way. I also remember it was done before by the late great, Conway Twitty.

I don't usually like the cover as well as the original, but I like Alan Jackson's "Pop A Top" better than Jim Ed Brown's, and I thought Aaron Neville did a good job with George Jones' "The Grand Tour"

"Pop a Top" by Alan Jackson is awesome! I like how covers can bring the original version of a song to new generations.

Have you heard of the group Doc Walker? They're a Canadian group, who are now mostly staying within Canada, and the northern States, I think, but they are really awesome smile They recently did a cover of Genesis' "That's All". I've heard some mixed reviews of it. It is really different than the original, I find, but it's really great!

Tillisnut Carrie Underwood's new song is a cover. "I Told You So" was done before by Randy Travis. I absolutely love Carrie's cover of I Told You So, she does an amazing job. I always get tears in my eyes when I see the longer version of the video, when Randy himself comes out to ask her if she wants to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
