Scrutinising the shelves at Next Chapter Books, in the hope that they had Science III in paperback (alas, not yet!) my eye fell upon the black spine of Men At Arms. Clearly, this was a new cover design - not a Kirby... surely then, a Kidby!!! Imagine my shock, therefore, when upon picking it up, I found a shoddily opacity-adjusted image of a Roman legionnare's helmet and a watch badge on a black cover. It looked like the cover of some awful piece of crime fiction. There were copies of Colour of Magic similarly defiled. Why??? Why this horrible injustice? Why, when there is the astounding talent of Paul Kidby availible, must they do that???
*Weeps*
Of course, it is entirely possible that there were produced in that small gap between Kirby's death (GNU Josh Kirby) and Kidby's appearance... but why would they?
*sighs* Forgive my rant. I would be interested to know if anyone else has encountered these, and what you think.

They're just alternate covers, they're slowly releasing them for the whole series. I think the idea was inspired by the 'adult' Harry Potter covers. The Wheel of Time series has two sets of covers as well. Personally I love the Kidby covers.

*Shudders*
Yeah, Kidby's art is beautiful... and a lot more acurate than Kirby's stuff! But then, the Kirby covers are just insane fun.

This is one of the problems I have with buying the American versions of the books. The cover art is terrible. They are all blocky with random blocky pictures on backgrounds of a single primary colour. I treasure the ones I have that aren't like that.

Mine are all mismatched as well. :
Has any one noticed that Terry is sometimes listed as a national best seller and sometimes an international best seller?
