Argh! Has anyone here ever had writer's block. What did you do to get rid of it.

xD I was suffering of that ten minutes ago. I don't force myself to keep writing. It usually just makes it turn out like crap. xp I write in my journal/diary instead, and get a drink of tea or something ( I love tea. xD ) and settle down. Maybe read some other peoples work, then try again. ^_^

you won't be able to write much if you have writer's block. I had it a couple of times. Usually, I just sleep on it. Ideas will come in the morning biggrin

Yeah but usually when I do that my passion for what I'm writing starts to cool. And my writing turnout get less and less.

Argh! I am having some major writer's block. I know what I want to happen, though. I'm just having a hard time putting words on the page. Someone help.

Hm... If you are writing a specific type of scene, try writing a bunch of different descriptive words you might want to use. Then try to get a few good sentances going that sound nice, and build around that. If that doesn't help, drink/eat something yummy, listen to music, sleep on it, and try again. <3 I wish I could help more. ( Is it only me who sees how unbelievably dead the guild it right now?

With writers block I just take a break and do something else. If it lasts more than a few days, I force myself to write some short things, but nothing I'm going to work on full time, just something to keep my writing skills working. Meanwhile I do lots of planning, like making characters, thinking of storylines, or drawing my characters, and usually from that inspiration will come on whatever I'm having writer's block on.

Yeah, many guilds slow down when school is back in. I guess most people just can't spare much time during the school year sad

sometimes it helps to read a really good book you like.

I heard that writer's block is really too many ideas contain in your head.
As far I'm concern, the only way of getting rid of writer's block is to do something else. Even if it is staring at the ceiling hours on end.

I've never come up with a truely effective way of dealing with writer's block. I'll usuallt walk away from the piece for a while and hope that it helps. Most of the time, it does. Other times it requires that I go back and rewrite sections, which ultimately improves the story in my thinking. Although some times it regretably leaves me so lost that the piece never gets finished.

Uh huh... Writer's block is indeed a b***h... I had one the other night, writing for the Nano is much harder than normal and I'm still waaaay below my word count..... -sigh- I picked it up again though after a while, took a break, put on some music... Ate chocolate... -cough-

I'm not quite sure myself how to deal with it... sometimes I'll force myself to write a few sentences, but the writing does seem a bit off, so I don't like that much. Usually I just turn my word pro off and go do something fun and relaxing. A few days later I'll be able to pick it up again and do fine. 3nodding

Same here. Just take a few days off and relax. That's what I do after every chapter of the book I'm writing, unless I'm really into it and want to keep going. mrgreen

Or I just hang out for a while, and listening to music really helps me. It really inspires, music.

Right now I'm writing a fanfic to pass the time, but pausing and writing something no-so chanllegning helps me and it means that my skills own dead a death of neglect.
