I love Ghost World! I have to admit, I've never read the graphic novel but the movie is one of my favorites.

Just as a question, from one person who's both seen the Ghost World movie and read the book to probably another... How do you think the two compared?

Nuala Just as a question, from one person who's both seen the Ghost World movie and read the book to probably another... How do you think the two compared? They were KINDA different. The move had Seymour, and in the book, Josh was a lot bigger of a character. (Not size-wise) Oh, and they took out the part with the "Ghost World" graffiti on the garage.. That part actually was kinda large..

Daniel Clowes: Caricature: Caricature is a collection of 9 short stories, all of which are ridiculously awesome. If you think I know everything, check out these ones first: The Gold Mommy, Green Eyeliner, Blue Itallian s**t, Gyenecology. All of the stories have the same sharp wit and dark humor seen in Clowes' other novels. Every single story in this book is ******** beautiful.
Ghost World: Ghost World is my favorite book of all time. It is about two young girls who have just graduated from High School. The neighbourhood they live in is constantly under attack by mini malls, fake 50's diners, nazi dorks, "stuck up prep school bitches", etc. They see the world the same, and seem to be the only people who can understand eachother. However, their relationship is slowly deteriorating, and they're kind of growing apart from one another. If I say anything else, the story would be ruined, and I would suuuuck.
NECKST TIME: Some updates on both of these mini-reviews, Craig Thompson's Blankets, A first post.

At all. ******** manga.Well there's a good way to be respectful of other's opinions stressed Since this is a guild for the literate we need to also put emphasis on something else: It's hard to comprehend things people write when they don't even know what they're writing. Think before you type and a lot more people will get your message and the reading comprehension will come a lot easier. And now, just because this post was much more mature than my usual dribble: razz Tongue sticks out at you!

(At this phase in my life) 2) This thread was meant for serious graphic novels, not with big eyes and cheesy love scenes. 3) I DON'T LIKE MANGA.
I wasn't trying to be rude, but when she started blabering on about Chobits Book 1 LOLZ! I was a little annoyed. Sorry?

Hey! Chobits is rather good! I gots the whole thing. And most of the manga I buy involves lots of blood. Could you at least be a little less harsh?
Changing topic.
Preacher is an awesome series.

As far as GNs go, an excellent one would be The Pro, from Image. Lovely humour and original storyline that is to die for.

Puffy AmiYumi Notes This thread is for serious graphic novels, not the stupid-a** manga crap. We're all for big eyes and gooshy make out scenes, but seriously, who would rather be reading a book called "IMADOKI! NOWADAYS!!" than reading a short story called "Blue Itallian s**t"?! Yaoi fangirls and asshats, that is who. If you don't agree with me: WTFUSUK GET OVER IT.
You've got to be the dumbest well read person I've ever met. Honestly, "I disagree with you so your opinion doesn't matter" What the hell is wrong with you? Not all manga follows that stereotype, apparently just the few that you have read. Stop being a twit.

At www.lowbright.com there's a graphic novel called Same Difference that I really enjoyed. Sometimes serious, sometimes silly, a tad emo angsty and very Korean. I love the art style as well.
